Chapter 2

  “Shit shit shit! I need to find that exit!” I shouted, panic rising in my throat as I heard the heavy thumps and growls echoing behind me.

  My legs were screaming. My body ached all over. Every breath felt like knives in my lungs. But I pushed forward, teeth gritted, dragging myself through the endless twists of this damn pce. Adrenaline is a beast.

  But This pce is massive. Way too massive. Left, right, down another tunnel, then another. Openings everywhere. its a Vast, and dark.

  I clutched the mana stone I found earlier, this one was bigger and brighter. It lit up the tunnels better than the small one I have in the sack. I could actually see more than a few steps in front of me now.

  "No monsters in sight… yet. Thank god" I mumble, as I look around.

  I still had two magazines loaded and ready. I kept the pistol tight in my grip. If anything popped out, I’d unload the entire mag into its skull or body? No hesitation.

  Then I felt it. I don’t know how, but I just "knew", that guy feeling. The exit was near.

  With that feeling, I moved faster. Hope was a drug, and I was high on it. A few left and right.

  There, there it is, the light. Actual light, not mana-stone glow. Real sunlight. I smiled like an idiot and rushed toward it.

  But Then I stopped, Something was off. Another guy feeling, but now saying it's dangerous.

  I raised the stone higher. There they were, Goblins. Four of them. This Short, green, ugly bastards. And they were guarding the way out.

  “Shit,” I whispered. “To think they were waiting here...” or maybe this is there camp. I don't care, right now, I am in danger.

  I gnced behind me. Growls, distant and it's getting closer. Cornered, I think to myself. With No other choice, I raised my gun.

  “You shits only know magic. I’ve got something better.” I pointed it at the leader and grinned.

  “I cast… *LEAD*!” I yelled and fired.

  Bang! Bang! Bang!

  Three shots. Two goblins dropped, screaming. The rest panicked and ran, probably never heard gunfire before. They had no idea what hit them.

  “The sound is new to them,” I muttered, and smirking. “Let’s keep it that way.” I put the gun in the sack then sprinted toward the light. Toward freedom. Upstairs. Out of the cave. To the light. Sunlight. Trees. Air.

  “Agh! finally!” I get out. In that damned dungeon.

  But I didn’t stop until I smmed into a tree. My legs gave out. My body was shaking. Pain screamed from every nerve ending. But I was out. I was safe. For now.

  I look Behind me, at the mouth of the cave, I could still see eyes watching. Dozens of them. Hungry and angry at me.

  “I’m not staying here,” I growled, pushing myself up with my bug-leg stick. Every step was pain, but I didn’t stop. Only Once I felt far enough, I colpsed at the base of a tree.

  I sigh with peace, as I look around. It was beautiful out here. You can really see the beauty of things when your about to die.

  But The Strange thing to me, are the trees surrounded me. Some looked like oaks with spruce leaves. Others had red leaves, glowing bark, and roots tangled like veins. It was alien and unreal to me. Like nature itself had gone wild.

  In Alex’s memories this trees are normal, the norm of this world. But I am from Earth. So to me, this was fantasy.

  I sigh again, this time in pain. As I looked down at my body, many cuts, blistered, weak. I was a mess. To think I survive, it's a miracle.

  “I need help…” I muttered. The adrenaline was gone now, and the pain was worse than ever.

  “If there’s a doctor here, I’ll thank the gods…” I mumble. But then I remembered the gun.

  I quickly checked the sack, it's still there. Still real and not hallucinations.

  “This thing, this gun came from my old life,” I said softly. “But it appeared when I thought about it…” I think deeper. Is this an ability?

  I test it, so i closed my eyes and concentrated again. I think deeper. Maybe there's something simir to games.

  "Abilities… powers… stats…" I mumble, trying to concentrate.

  Come on, this is a fantasy world. Maybe there’s a status screen? I focused harder, like clicking a button in a game.

  And then… warmth, that warm air again. I opened my eyes. It worked! I smile and look at it.

  **Status**

  Name: Alex, Son of Lord Harold

  Age: 18

  Titles: Exiled Brat, Crying Baby, Ego Maniac, Useless Son, Well-Educated, Great Strategist, Armchair Historian, Reincarnated

  **Abilities:**

  * Magic – Lv. 1

  * Sword Art – Lv. 1

  * Gun User – Lv. 1

  * Strategist – Lv. ??

  * Military Commander – Lv. ??

  **Health:**

  Mental Health – Low

  Physical Health – Low

  Sanity – Low

  Mana – Low

  **Overall Health – Critical**

  I stared at the screen. This… this was a awesome! I smile but look at the titles.

  The titles were brutal. “Exiled Brat”? “Crying Baby”? Damn. But “Reincarnated” confirmed it. This system knew I wasn’t "Alex".

  The abilities were strange too. Gun User made sense. But Strategist? Military Commander? What was that?

  I tapped on the commander, maybe it has some answer like checking new skills in games. As I press it, something pop in front of my face.

  *Military Commander: Grants user the ability to summon military weapons, tech, ammo, and troops. Sanity will be used as currency for all commands. Skills has no cool down.*

  I froze. Shock and awe. "That’s how I got the gun…" I whispered.

  Then I think about it. If I can summon a gun. Maybe I can summon a soldier? But my sanity is very low. I sigh and look at my status, with my state. I had to try.

  I close my eyes and think, like what I did to the gun. Think, think of a doctor!

  “Deploy… 65th Medic Regiment!” I said loudly, voice cracking from pain, I am confused, I don't know that?

  Confused as to how I said that, a warm feeling hit me again. Then a powerful light.

  And then—

  “Reporting for duty, sir!”

  I open my eyes and look Infront of me. A soldier materialized in front of me. World War 2 soldier? With a Marine uniform. Red cross on his helmet. Simir to what I used in one of my games.

  “Holy shit, it works” I breathed. But I feel worse as a result.

  He looked at me and his eyes widened. “You’re badly injured, sir!” without any hesitation. He dropped to his knees, pulled out a medkit, and started working fast.

  “Morphine, don’t worry,” he said. “You’re gonna be okay.”

  He pulled out sharp tools and surgical gear.

  I panicked. “Wait! wait! what are you" he shuush me. Then He gently patted my head.

  “Rest easy, sir. I’ll make you better." I look at him, this is my first time to get injured this badly, and getting help by a man I didn't even know yet.

  He open a smaller bag, and i saw needle, and a scalpel with other medical tools.

  Maybe because of fear or exhaustion, maybe both I fainted.
