Leonardo POV
The world around me shifted again, and when I blinked, I found myself standing on solid ground, the air thick with warmth. The café was gone. Lyra, the goddess, was nowhere in sight. Instead, I stood on a dirt path in the middle of a grassy ndscape that stretched ahead. It was somewhat sunny and has just a perfect weather overall.
I gnced down at myself, and my eyes widened slightly. I was no longer wearing the clothes I had on earlier and had on a dull gray shirt and seme bck pants under a hooded cloak, all looked worn down, but I guess that it's part of the disguise.
There was also a strange weight at my side. I reached down and felt a pouch tucked into my belt. I wasn't sure what it was, but the moment my fingers brushed it, a strange sense of recognition hit me. Lyra had mentioned something about this. It was a spatial pouch, enchanted to hold valuables. All I had to do was think about an item that was stored, and it would appear. It should have my ID and some money. 10 copper equals 1 bronze, 10 bronze to 1 silver, and 100 silver to 1 gold coin. Gold coins being 100 silver seems a little much, but I'm not the expert here.
Then, my gaze moved to the bck arm guard on my left arm. But Lyra had said something else about it. The moment I focused on it, I felt a pulse of magic, and in an instant, the arm guard transformed, shifting and expanding into a sleek, metallic gun. It was the strangest feeling, almost like my arm was connected to something far beyond the leather. The transformation was seamless.
No bullets as it shoots out mana or spells instead, so it's based on my mana pool on how much I can use it, it can also transform into a dagger for close combat. I also have a regur dagger strapped to my waist, as the armguard shouldn't be shown due to no such transform weapons existing in this world, it could attract unwanted attention.
I looked around again, scanning the ndscape. The path ahead seemed to wind through tall grasses, leading toward distant mountains. The sun was high, and the air smelled fresh, cleaner than anything back home. The nd was untouched by any sign of civilization, at least from where I could see.
[Hello, can you hear me?] Lyra asked in my head.
KingSilver
"Yeah."
[You've arrived in Terra. Explore the world, get familiar with your surroundings. I'll be able to see the world through your eyes and hear what you hear. It will help me give you advice or instructions when needed. You can choose to block me if you prefer some privacy, but just know that I can't always guide you if you do.]
"Got you...and you forgot my sandwich."
[Check the pouch.]
I got the pouch and reached in it, and sure enough, there's a sandwich in there.
[Head straight, the closest town should be a 2-day walk.]
"2 days? Oh my goodness, this sandwich is amazing."
[You need some experience camping and living in the wild, which is why I pced you this far; your mission will take you a few years anyway.]
"Alright, but wouldn't he be much stronger than?"
[Don't worry, I think there are discussions about sending in 2 more demigods.]
"So what power do I have? I don't feel like a demigod."
[Like all demigods, your powers were sealed until needed. As for what you have...I quite frankly don't know.]
"Don't you know my parent?"
[I do...just, well...I wouldn't know what powers you may have, even if I had to take a guess, they're quite a wildcard.]
"Alright, useful. So, how do I use magic?"
[Walk and find a pce to rest first, I'll expin tomorrow.]
It went from wonderful weather to terrible one real quick as I was sweating under the cloak, and I knew no magic to cool myself down. I pulled the pouch from my belt, and with a thought, a fan appeared in my hand. It wasn't much, but it helped a little. I waved it in front of my face, trying to get some air circuting, though it hardly did enough to fight the heat.
As if the universe had decided to throw me a bone, I reached into the pouch again, this time pulling out a filtered water fsk. I unscrewed the cap and took a long drink, feeling the cool liquid settle in my stomach. It wasn't the most refreshing thing in the world, but at least it was keeping me hydrated, and that was something. I didn't want to think about what would happen if I ran out of water in a pce like this.
Just as I was trying to make sense of how I could survive in this hellish heat, the weather decided to throw me another curveball. A dark cloud formed quickly overhead, casting an eerie shadow across the forest. The temperature plummeted almost instantly. What had been sweltering heat was now a chilling cold, the air thick with an impending storm. Thunder rumbled in the distance, and the wind kicked up, making the trees sway and creak ominously.
I looked around, realizing I had no idea where I was or which direction I should go. The trail I had been following was now obscured by thick fog that seemed to have rolled in from nowhere. I continued on my path, and that led me into a forest. I saw a flickering light through the fog in the distance and thought that it was other people that I can get a few help from as this Lyra person in my head wasn't helping much so far.
But as I stepped closer, the flickering firelight revealed more than I bargained for.
There were people, alright, half a dozen of them gathered around a campfire, ughing and passing around something in a jug. Their clothes were ragged, weapons leaning against nearby logs, and the way they all turned to look at me in perfect unison sent a chill down my spine that had nothing to do with the weather.
"Drats, bandits."
[Drats? That's new.]
"I'm trying for a family-friendly approach."
"Well, what do we-" a bandit said while grinning, before I interrupted him.
"Wait, just wait for a second, is there a way that I can give y'all an IOU and get robbed another day? I kind of don't want to be robbed today."
"Are you sane?" the bandit asked in reply.
"I'd say so, my doctor said that I am clinically sane...he did give me a follow-up with a specialist, but that's a story for another time."
[You were also rejected by art school, I'm just saying, he might be right.]
"Not helping my case."
