That night, Celosia approached the kitchen since it was almost dinner, she was intending to eat quickly and up back to the attic without saying anything else, she was annoyed to find Damon and Damian sitting by the table at the corner of the room when she entered the bright, modern looking kitchen with a beige coloured floor.
Isobel was also in the room, kneeling down to look at the ptes that she had recently pced in there.
The house has been retively quiet since Louisa left for Oaknd a few days ago too, Celosia barely heard anyone as she spent the st few days unpacking up in the attic. Her sisters kept to themselves, as did the twins for once while her father stayed in Peter and Evelyn's bedroom to recover from pill withdrawl.
The only person that the twins would talk too, and have dinner with was Isobel, and they would do their best to ignore Celosia whenever she did come downstairs to grab something.
"Why are you down here, aren't you busy burning your arms on a radiator? Or are you still uncomfortable with fire?" Damon goaded to Celosia when she entered the room.
"Yeah, we don't want someone as big as you to take up space at this table." Damian tried to add more dirt to the wound, but all he did was cause Celosia to gre at them before replying.
"Not uncomfortable enough to wish burning you two alive." Celosia smirked as she approached the table, this drew ire from Damon and Damian, they were about to snap back at her, only for Isobel to interrupt.
She didn't look too happy to see Celosia, but then again, she always had that disdainful look on her face whenever Celosia entered a room that she was in.
"Celosia." Isobel called out as she walked over towards the three at the table, closing the cupboard containing the ptes, in her right hand was a golden pocketwatch, which Celosia recongised was an heirloom, Isobel often checks it for the time, so she must have been doing that while checking the ptes.
It apprentley belonged to Celosia's te grandfather, but Isobel doesn't like talking about her family that much.
"Why don't you run an errand for before dinner?" Isobel requested.
"We're one pte short, so just buy the cheapest one that you can find at the nearest convience store." She added before handing Celosia five dolrs, which Celosia was surprised by, not because of the errand itself, but it was already night out and with various incidents that have happened around Fmel, was it even safe to currently go out at night?
"Really? Aren't you worried about the dangerous things we've already heard about on this Isnd? Like that woman who's been abducting those boys and that bear in the woods?" Celosia pointed out, a day ago there was a news broadcast about the search party for those boys, with the group focusing on the forest having to postpone the search there until that wild bear was found and it was safe to go into the forest again.
Reportedly a woman in a dress was the st known person that the boys had seen before going missing, and people have been searching for the woman's identity since, so far, nothing has come of it other then she has long mahogany brown hair.
Isobel would sigh. "And those incidents happened in the woods, so unless you want to snort up crunched up pills like your father does, then stay out of there if you value your life." Isobel sternly ordered.
"Fine, I guess I'll go out and get stabbed on the street since that can still happen outside of the forest, or have something worse done to me like you've been hoping to happen so I can be scared straight." Celosia said before leaving the house soon after as her mother watched from the kitchen.
"I hope." Isobel quietly uttered as she put away the watch, Damon and Damian had heard her whisper but chose not to say anything, because like her, they hoped something bad would happen to Celosia whenever she goes outside.
Then everyone in this family would be happy that there was no more burden dragging them down.
Fmel's dark streets were at least peaceful, Celosia thought as she walked through them to get to the convience store since it was only a short walk away and this walk did give her an opportunity to check out what Fmel was like at night.
There was a few people standing around, talking to neighbours, friends, couples, they were minding their own business as Celosia walked past them.
The streets looked almost green as they were basked in the twilight of the night with spoldges of darkness in the alleyways or at the other end of the street. The people around her didn't pay her any mind which was fortunate as she didn't like making eye contact with people anyway unless it was someone that she liked.
Celosia then reached the store itself, which had no people standing near it.
It was surprising to Celosia, seeing as how people often hang around convience stores like these during the night. It was probably because of the weather growing slightly chilly now, but still warm enough that you can walk outside at night without a coat.
The store's glow from the inside was the only bright thing around the area, the street lights were barely flickering with light that wasn't bright enough to remove the green twilight streets or the splodges of darkness further down the road.
When Celosia stepped closer towards the store she was touched by It's light and didn't look as though she was covered in green anymore.
She entered soon after, just as Haruo, Hanae, Fumihito, Hayate and Sota would arrive.
"Huh, not a lot of freaks out tonight." Hanae looked surprised as she noticed how quiet the store was outside of it tonight, Haruo was standing away from the others, his hat wrapped around the top of his head and his gloves in his pocket.
"Good, the less we talk to people the better, the only threat right now seems to be what we're looking for in the forest." Haruo mumbled. Sota, who was standing near Haruo, turned to him, having heard what he said.
"Has there been any updates during the night runs?" Sota asked.
Haruo, Masaru and Susumu have took it upon themselves to check the forest now and again for this "bear" that had been killing people, especially after it cimed a third victim recently, because of what happened to that farmhand, their searches in the woods have increased from three nights a week to five.
Haruo often checks the woods now and again as well for Haruki, maybe for a clue that was left behind of his disappearance, but there was nothing and as the months go by, clues as to where Haruki and the rest of the boys were taken become more muddier and it's frustrating him.
"No, no updates yet." Haruo shook his head to Sota in response.
"I mean, either me, Masa or Susu would tell you something by now anyway." Haruo added, the two boys would stop to look at the night sky, just so Hayate, Hanae and Fumihito, who were slugging behind them, could catch up and Sota was becoming more focused on the sky.
They looked at it in silence for about a minute, before Haruo spoke again.
"Your thinking about your dad again, right?" Haruo mented, Sota would sadly nod.
Whenever Sota couldn't sleep he would try to look for a star, stars, his dad often lectured him about to help him fall asleep, according to his father, stars often brought good luck if you see one. It was like a feeling, telling you that bad things that had happened to you, will be over soon, and good things will happen instead.
"Do you see one?" Sota would ask Haruo, Haruo looked up into that void of a sky, hoping to find a glowing dot of a star.
"I can't see a star." Haruo sounded disappointed, as if he could really see a star right now, so good things will happen to him.
"We all need a star right now, maybe one will come out tomorrow." Sota mented.
"Yeah." Haruo would agree.
"I don't see anything either." Hanae walked up to the two, along with Fumihito and Hayate, having heard their star talk just now but nothing else.
"It's been awhile since we had a clear night." Hayate would look up, Haruo sighed.
"Let's just grab our shit and get home as soon as we can, besides, the real creeps come out more as the night goes on, and I don't want to throw fists at some idiot again, or some creepy drunk guy." Haruo ushered to the four as they approached the convience store.
Celosia, being in this store for the first time then she remembered, noticed that this store had white pstic flooring and walls, which had neon green and pink lights helping light the inside and outside of the store, there was also a rge sponsership poster of Moulders Mill pstered on the window along with other smaller advertisement posters.
There was only six aisles due to how small the store was, but there was no signs indicating what aisles they were, there was a woman sitting at the store's front counter, who's name tag was "Hayley."
There was music in the store that was pying that same song on the current music charts, with Hayley's tired eyes indicating that she has heard the song over and over again during her shifts at the store.
"What aisle have ptes?" Celosia asked Hayley as she approached the counter.
"If they're any." She added, for all Celosia knew, she just entered a convience store that doesn't even sell something as ptes.
"What kind of ptes are you're looking for?" Hayley droned.
"The cheapest one possible, just something you can have food on without it breaking it once." Not like a paper pte, Celosia thought, although if her mother was here she would demand something of higher quality, and something over the five dolr budget that she gave to Celosia just so she wouldn't look cheap to anyone around her.
"Aisle five is where we keep utensils." Hayley pointed to the fifth aisle, Celosia smiled, bowing a little in gratitude.
"Thanks." As Celosia approached the aisle, she briefly turned towards the store entrance when she saw five teenagers enter, one of them was wearing a cool looking hat.
There was one girl and four boys, the girl and two of the boys seemed to enjoy the quiet atmosphere that the store had, before making their way to the back of the store through another aisle, Celosia didn't pay them any mind where she soon found various ptes.
Many of the ptes were pstic, some were made with stone and some were in different colours and patterns, one of which soon caught Celosia's eye, a brown pte with a yellow spiral pattern.
Intrigued by the design, Celosia reached for it, not noticing another pte made of stone slowly tipping towards the edge of the shelf, it prepared itself to fall and smash straight into the unsuspecting Celosia's head.
"Lookout!" Haruo shouted as he raced forward and pulled Celosia away as she was grabbing the pte, it narrowly missed hitting her and smashed onto the floor in pieces, the two looked down at the smashed pieces of the pte, surprised by the sudden events that transpired.
"You okay? That pte didn't hit your head right?" Haruo asked, Celosia looked up towards the taller boy who saved her just now.
"Oh uh, yeah, I'm fine." Celosia tried forming a sentence once things have calmed down.
"I would have seen blood dripping down near my eye if that stone hit me." Celosia tittered, Haruo ughed back in response.
"That sounds like something someone would say if they were famair with injuries like that." Haruo joked as he crossed his arms.
"Trust me, I did." Celosia was honest, although Haruo thought it was a joke, the slight serious expression on Celosia's face begged to differ and his smile dropped a little.
"Thanks though." She looked down at the pte.
"I'm going to have to pay for that though." Haruo sighed.
"No, it's fine." Celosia assured Haruo.
"I must have pushed it getting this pte, and it's the least I should do for you for saving my ass just now from a concussion." Celosia looked up to the shelf where the pte had fallen from.
"It was only." She paused and realised the price was five dollers, the same amount for the pte she wanted.
"Five dollers." Celosia looked down at the pte she wanted to buy, Haruo noticed Celosia sadly put the pte that she was holding away.
"Uh, I don't have that much on me." Haruo dug in his pocket, and pulled out some change.
"But if your fine with it, I can get you something." Haruo, feeling bad for Celosia, would offer, if he had more money then he would have bought the pte for her.
"Really?" She, sounded surprised at Haruo's friendly manner, Reiki would often buy her smoothies, but that was a long while ago.
"Y-You like smoothies right?" Haruo asked in an awkard manner.
It felt awakard as hell for someone who didn't keep the way he talked in check, now he was worried for the sake of this girl that he just met. Haruo wondered who she was as he never saw this girl in Fmel before, she must be new, but was she a witch, a vampire? A ghoul like the Qismat siblings and their cousin?
Celosia, felt just as awkard, since it had been awhile since she talked to a nice person like Haruo. But, She, smiled. "Yes." She answered back.
"I do." She added.
