Chapter 8 – Bittersweet Family Reunion

Her family stood in the dark green hallway of the house, Celosia was happy to see that this part of the house didn't change since she st visited.

"Hello? Damon, Damian, we're here!" Isobel loudly called out. Celosia gripped her box as she stood by the stairs, preparing for the worst from her cousins.

"Ah, Aunt Isobel, you're here." Aw shit, Celosia thought, hearing their sickening and fake pleasant voices that were coming from the top of the stairs. Celosia wanted to groan badly upon hearing them, as she looked up and saw them.

Damon and Damian stood at the top of the stairs, looking down at Celosia with grins on their faces, both of which were filled with sinister intentions.

Despite being twins, they dressed differently, Damon wore a blue and purple striped sweater with jeans while Damian wore a white shirt, pants and shoes, making him look like how people interparated angels, they both also had white skin.

"We're happy that we have someone who will actually cheer us up." Damon continued to smile as he and his brother began walking down the stairs in unison.

"Except for unloved girls like Celosia." Damian taunted Celosia and ughed a little, who gred at Damon with heated intensity, she had just arrived too and already these assholes were already getting under her skin.

"Fuck off and die you aborted piles of shit." Celosia retorted.

"Celosia." Isobel chastised her daughter for her vile comeback, raising her voice a little in the process.

"They always treat me like shit when I come here, I'm just defending myself." Celosia grumbled.

"You will be polite to them, I want you to be nice to them, it's my choice, not yours." Isobel denounced her daughter despite what her nephews had just said.

"And those two cunts can't be polite to me for once?" Celosia argued, only for her family and the twins to stare at her with contempt, Celosia stood her ground regardless and gred back at them, like to her mother for agreeing with the twins for what they said about her.

Celosia wasn't going to apologise and while she did feel bad for what had happened to Damon and Damian's parents, she still doesn't like them, they always hated her and she always hated them.

"It was hard Aunt Isobel." Damian snivelled, but in a way that made him sound, melodramatic, as if he wasn't taking the tragic cirumstances of what happened to his parents seriously, at least, that was the way Celosia sees it.

"But, we've been getting there." Damon snivelled alongside his brother, but in a more beliveable way.

Damian and Damon proceeded to hug Isobel, to them, Isobel was their favourite aunt and they were happy to see her again after two years.

Celosia wished they could swap mothers, maybe then Evelyn would still be around. However that would mean subjecting Peter to a terrible marriage, compared to his happier one with Evelyn.

"Who's been looking after the two of you before we came here?" Addison asked.

"That would be me." A woman called from the top of the stairs before descending.

Her skin was dark brown and she had short dark hair, her eyes, a shade of green were beautiful and she wore a dark tanktop with dark pants and shoes, Celosia quickly realised who she was and began to smile.

The rest of the family recongised the woman too, but they were, less then happy to see her then Celosia was.

"Oh, hello Louisa." Isobel kept her smile as Louisa reached the bottom of the stairs, but Louisa could already tell from the venom that was in Isobel's lungs that she didn't want her to be here.

"Hi everyone, I'm gd that you finally arrived." Louisa greeted everyone warmly.

"And about time too." She joked before looking over towards the twins in a disapproving way, implying her short stint in babysitting the twins before the Barnes arrived was a handful.

"How are you all doing after..." Louisa paused and looked around the room.

Damon and Damian didn't seem too upset over what happened to their parents, if anything they looked, relieved. Louisa didn't question it, as maybe they were mourning their father and what happened to their mother in private, but during her time looking after them, they kept to themselves and sometimes, Louisa would hear weird things when passing by their room.

Sometimes they would go outside in the backyard, where they kept staring at the fence blocking them from Fmel's forest, they would do that for a few hours, remaining silent until Louisa called out to them. What was going on in their heads? Louisa often thought during her stay here. She always did feel there was something, off regarding them and she even almost turned down the option to look after them until Gio and Isobel arrived at the house, but she did it out of respect for Peter and Evelyn.

Evelyn, Louisa wanted her to wake up soon, even if that was unlikely to happen anytime soon.

"What happened." Louisa finished, she thought about Peter too, and how his life was taken too soon, bad things always happen to good people she thought.

"It's nice to see you again Louisa." Celosia stepped closer to warmly greet her aunt now that the hall was quiet, she smiled and bowed to Louisa, even if she had difficulty doing so as she was holding a heavy box. Louisa never really liked being called aunt, so Celosia simply called her Louisa.

"Celosia! It's always wonderful to see you!" Louisa would hug Celosia, if a bit awakard because of the box, Celosia liked this hug as it's been awhile since she had gotten one, Reiki was the st person that hugged her.

"Gd you left Agatho?" Louisa asked with a smile, Celosia would let out a short, sarcastic ugh.

"Hell yeah, I don't have to deal with the shit at Gyges now, although it will likely be the same at Conway's though, but I'll survive, somewhat." Celosia doubted her words though.

Isobel watched the two talk while her husband and her other daughters talked to the twins, staring at them and noticed how the sullen Celosia grew happier upon seeing Louisa.

And it, annoyed her, seeing Celosia happy and Louisa, a woman Isobel didn't even like, was the reason she was smiling now, she could never understand what Celosia, Peter, Evelyn or Basaran saw in Louisa, to Isobel, she was an outsider to this family and wanted her to remain as such.

It even made Isobel happy that Louisa was alone now that Basaran was gone, she was close with Peter and Evelyn through him, to the point that they would offer her a guest room whenever her and Basaran would come by on visits, and they were always around whenever Isobel and Gio came by to visit back then, those two couples felt like a contrast between her marriage with Gio.

With Basaran gone it also meant that he wouldn't have the chance to bond with Celosia like how Louisa did. They were, simir in behaviour, they both hated being around people, and Basaran was rude whenever he talked, if not more so then Celosia, he was gone before Celosia turned three, and she barely has any memories of her uncle.

Louisa was going to leave soon, Isobel thought triumphantly, as it meant that she wouldn't be around Celosia any longer and she would go back to her small sad apartment back in Oaknd.

"Louisa." Isobel would happily butt in to interrupt Celosia and Louisa, having grown tired of their conversation.

"Since your here now that would mean you would be leaving soon, right?" Isobel put on another one of her fake smiles, a smile that Celosia and Louisa quickly saw through, the real ones were rare compared to the fake ones that she puts on.

"Give her some breathing space mom, we just got here." Celosia chided to her mother.

"I just think she might overstay her welcome." Isobel would retort.

"Yeah and we're the ones to talk, we basically took over this house without Evelyn's permission." Celosia fumed a little.

"Well Evelyn's not in the right condition to say anything right now, and she probably never will even when she wakes up." Isobel mocked Evelyn's situation, enough so to strike a chord with Celosia and Louisa.

"Regardless she would still allow us to stay at her home until further notice." Isobel argued in her defense for the family staying in the house.

"Heh, would she really?" Celosia retaliated, followed by a smirk, Isobel stepped forward, closer to her daughter and invading her personal space, which almost caused Celosia to drop her box by her mother storming towards her.

"Alright listen here." Isobel whispered agressivly towards Celosia as she prepared to grab onto her arm, hard.

"Isobel." Louisa spoke up before Isobel could issue her threat to Celosia.

"I'm leaving for Oaknd tomorrow, I've already packed and everything after getting Gio's phone call this morning." Louisa looked over towards Gio, who was now checking out Peter and Evelyn's living room.

"Besides." Damon, moved next to Isobel, as if protecting her from Celosia and Louisa.

"I don't think our mom would mind, letting you all stay here." He grinned, which looked as creepy as when he first appeared at the top of the stairs.

"We're about ready to take you to your rooms, if you don't mind." Damian would slither over next to his twin.

"Would you like us to show you, dearest Celosia. We have the perfect rundown room that someone as sad as you could sleep in while you're staying here." Damian began to ugh followed by his twin brother.

"Would you boys mind actually showing her a good room? Regardless, she's a guest, and she should have a room as good as what everyone else here is getting." Louisa would demand to Damian and Damon, Celosia however, smiled.

"It's alright Louisa, I'm staying in the attic." Celosia would retort to the twins, before shoving her way past them and begin making her way upstairs. Damon and Damian were taken aback by Celosia's sudden decision, they, didn't expect her to suddenly choose a room so quickly, more so, the rge attic at the top of the house.

At least this meant that they wouldn't hear her, since it was on the highest floor of the house, and away from the other bedrooms everyone else will be staying in.

Still, the twins looked bitter that Celosia had one upped them just now, Louisa meanwhile smiled at Celosia's decision.
