Chapter 41: President Bo—Why Are You Here?
So once again, it was that damn Jiang Wanze—the scumbag original male lead—ruining her chances.
Ye Xian scratched her palm, her eyes flickering with a clever gleam. "Director Li, your reasoning doesn’t quite make sense. Sure, my retionship with Jiang Wanze is strained, but that doesn’t mean my retionship with President Bo is bad. In fact, Bo Ting Shen and I get along very well in private!"
"President Bo, please try some of this Japanese genmaicha—it has a lovely lingering aftertaste..."
In Room C2, Mr. Zhao of Xini Tech was just offering tea to Bo Ting Shen when suddenly, from behind the decorative screen next door, a voice rang out confidently: ‘Bo Ting Shen and I get along very well in private!’ The movement of his hand froze mid-pour.
It wasn’t just him—everyone in the room heard it.
Mr. Fei of Tengyue Group, Mr. Zhang of Guangda Jewelry, Mr. Xie of VOGUE Magazine, and the kimono-cd women kneeling and serving tea all turned to look at President Bo in surprise.
Someone at the next table also knew President Bo?
Bo Ting Shen slowly lifted his eyes and gazed toward the thin screen separating the rooms, his eyes falling on the slender figure beyond it.
"...Is that for real?"Li Jiahua looked at Ye Xian skeptically.
Ye Xian chuckled. "Of course. Even if you don’t believe me, you believe in Shangguan Yunli, right? You know he’s good friends with President Bo?"
"Yes, of course!"
Shangguan Yunli, heir to a real estate empire, known for his charm and unruly pyboy nature, was acquainted with countless people in the industry—but looked down on nearly all of them, except for his one true friend: President Bo of the Bo Group.
"Just a few days ago, the three of us pyed golf together at Nan Mirror Lake—had a bst. Shangguan gave me that business card during our game."
"Golf?"
Li Jiahua still wasn’t fully convinced.
Although rumors cimed Ye Xian had a wealthy backer supporting her, it was hard to believe she could associate with top-tier figures like Shangguan Yunli and President Bo. One business card wasn't enough to convince him.
"It’s true." Ye Xian poured him some more tea. "Director Li, how could you question my integrity? I never lie. Really—just tell me, what would it take for you to believe me?"
"If your retionship with President Bo is so good, why didn’t he just put in a word for you? Why come to audition in person?"
As soon as Li Jiahua said that, Ye Xian’s expression changed, her tone turning serious."Director Li, how can you say that? I, Ye Xian, rely on skill and ability. I’m not some pathetic nobody who climbs up through connections!"
Her righteous tone made Li Jiahua instantly feel guilty.
Ye Xian: Not bad, self—pulled that off effortlessly.
Li Jiahua: "Alright, then I’ll ask you one st question. Just how close are you to President Bo? Be honest—I need to gauge whether I can safely cast you."
"How close, huh~?"
Ye Xian stroked her chin, mysteriously beckoning him over. As he leaned in, she whispered in his ear.
"What?!" Li Jiahua couldn’t hold back and blurted out, "Close enough to give him lingerie?!"
"Shhh!" Ye Xian signaled for him to keep it down. Li Jiahua nodded repeatedly, now fully convinced. He even began to wonder—was the rumored backer behind Ye Xian actually... President Bo himself?
"Then I can confidently cast you—Presi—President Bo?!"
Li Jiahua was mid-sentence when he suddenly froze, staring in shock at something behind Ye Xian.
Behind the girl, an intricately carved screen was being gently pushed open by a woman in a kimono.
Ye Xian, puzzled, turned to follow his gaze—only to meet Bo Ting Shen’s pitch-dark, snake-like eyes, filled with chilly menace.
Startled, she nearly fell off the bench.
"Bo—Bo-Bo President! What are you doing here?!"
