I was running toward the department store like a madman, aiming for the shop where I am currently working. When I finally reached it, it happened. This one brief moment of carelessness, caused my already wonky legs to give up. My left ankle twisted and I fell down to the floor, while excruciating pain shot through my body.
I really don't have time for this now!!!! Stand up already!!!
While my eyes were fixed on my pursuer, my body began to move. Unfortunately, my attempt to stand up again failed and I landed on my knees. Before I was even able to react, I saw something metallic flashing in the light of the lamps above us.
The figure was armed with a baseball bat and ready to hit me with it. He was pointing at me and I quickly raised my arms above my head to protect it. Every inch of my body was shivering while I was waiting for the bat to hit me every moment.
That's it I guess. If only I had driven with my car today, than this wouldn't have happened. SHIT
Tears running down my face, the feeling of taking the last breath while my anxiety got broken to pieces when I realized that nothing was happening. I cautiously and confused opened my eyes. I realized that a men had stepped between us. He was fending off the baseball bat with his left arm, while gripping it tightly with his right hand. My eyes widened.
Sophia: Victor? What are you doing here?
My savior looked slightly to the side and answered me with some strain.
Victor: I actually swapped shifts with you, didn't Lisa tell you? But this doesn't matter now. Where did you pick him up and why is he attacking you?
A loud squeak from Victor's sneakers could be heard as he struggled with all his strength against his attacker. The figure tried to free his weapon while growling in frustration. Gasping, he jerked his baseball bat free.
For a second he just stood there, gritted his teeth and started grinning at the security camera. After that, he glared at me and ran away.

Victor tried to grab his hood but unfortunately missed it. Both of us were staring at him while realizing slowly what actually had happened. I was still sitting at my knees, letting my arms sinking down in slow motion while breathing heavily. The shock still sat deep in my bones.
It took me a while to notice, that Victor was talking to me while he was helping me on the bench next to the shop. He asked me if everything is ok and if I am injured. I just nodded.
That confused him, so he checked for wounds. As he couldn't spot any, he was relieved.
My head was still spiraling around what had happened.
Why always me? What does he want from me?
In the meantime Lisa, our shop owner arrived. Victor informed her of the situation. Frightened, they brought me into the shop and sat me on the couch in the employee area. After that, they called the police.
I felt like glued to the wall, while shivers ran down my spine. I finally woke up out of this stage, when a knocking sound from the window in the front reached my mind. Two police officers were looking through the window.
The first thing that came into my mind now was, that Victor might be injured. He was standing in front of me while he was talking to Lisa. I widened my eyes, instinctively grabbed his arm and pulled him onto the couch. I pushed up his sleeve and was relieved when I saw a slight bruise.
But how is that possible? He hit him with full force, I saw that!
I looked at him, totally confused of the situation, while he smiled at me like nothing had happened.
