Chapter 3: The Kamen Of America

Gunshots rang out across St. Louis' city as the police were exchanging fire with a group of armed suspects barricading themselves inside the bank, but it became a hard task for the police force when the robbers turned out to have more firepower. While they held their position outside the bank, the police set up a perimeter around the bank to keep the bystanders away from the scene, while the press didn't take long to arrive and report the events live.

"Where the hell is the SWAT team?" The Captain demanded he watch from a rooftop his men being pinned down by heavy fire, using the patrol cars as cover.

"They're coming as fast as they can, but they'll arrive in about five minutes." An officer answered as he stood next to the Captain.

"Dammit, we ain't got five minutes! We need to create some kind of diversion to get our boys out of this mess!" He voiced his frustration as he tried to come up with a pn.

"Sounds to me like someone should be the bait."

The captain turned around and saw a young man standing behind them, wearing a skin-tight bck and blue suit with a leather jacket and a pair of round sungsses. "Who are you and what are you doing here?!"

"Wait, that's the guy who took down KillCannon in Chicago st week!" The other officer said with surprise once he recognized the hero's face.

"That's right, and I'm your friendly neighborhood superhero who's doing the same job, just like you. I was patrolling across the city until I heard the gunshots, and from the looks of it, I see you need some help. If there's something I can do, just say the word." Unbreakable replied as he took off his sungsses to show the serious look in his eyes.

He noticed the captain was about to reject his offer, but when he exchanged a look with his partner, they seemed to come to an understanding that many lives were at stake and they needed as much help as they could get.

"We got ourselves a bank heist. Four armed suspects stormed the bank and took everyone inside as hostages. Two of our men are wounded and we can't get to them under heavy fire." The captain expined as he led Unbreakable to the parapet, pointing a couple of officers behind a short wall; one of them was shooting with a banged up arm and the other was badly injured.

"Alright, anything else I should know?" Unbreakable asked, gncing back at the high-ranking officer.

"We got reports that one suspect is carrying heavy artillery. Probably a heavy machine gun or a grenade uncher. We don't know yet. But I assume you can handle that, don't you?"

"Boss, you have nothing to worry about. My body is practically… well, you get the idea." Unbreakable reassured him with a smile and he was about to put back his sungsses on.

"One more thing…" The captain spoke and stepped towards him, giving him a grave expression. "Don't let them hurt the hostages inside. Whatever you do, keep them busy so our SWAT team can get them out of there."

Unbreakable nodded his head in understanding and put on his gsses. He then climbed on top of the edge and stepped off to fall down, nding on the ground graciously. He sauntered his way in the middle of the crossfire, without flinching at the bullets whizzing by as he caught the attention from both sides. One of the robbers spotted him and armed the others before they began firing towards the superhero. However, the bullets could barely leave a mark on his suit or his skin, as Unbreakable just shrugged it off and continued heading towards the wounded officers.

"Hey guys! Can you both walk?" Unbreakable raised his voice amid the shooting as he checked on them.

"I think I can! But my partner is hurt pretty bad!" The officer with a wounded arm pointed at the other one who's clutching his side bleeding.

"Do you think you can carry him somewhere safe?" Unbreakable asked as he peeked over the short wall to spot the terrorists by the broken windows.

"If you can somehow give us some cover, I think I can!"

Unbreakable nodded as he noticed a police car next to them, and quickly came up with an idea. He strode towards the vehicle, pced his hands underneath it, and lifted the car effortlessly to flip it sideways. "Alright, that should do it! Get going!"

When the officer took his partner and met up with the young hero, Unbreakable carried the patrol car to use it as a shield, as they were heading towards the barriers where the ambunces were standing by. The bank robbers poured everything they got, even one of them used a heavy machine gun, leaving the car riddled with bullet holes with parts of it falling apart.

"Come on! We're almost there!" Unbreakable shouted as he kept carrying the vehicle even though it was now becoming junk, though he was sure they wouldn't mind that.

Despite receiving intensive fire from the thugs, Unbreakable reached the barriers and waited until the cops were now away from the shooting.

"Thank you, Unbreakable!" The officer excimed as he and his partner reunited with a police squad as they took him and his partner to the medics. Unbreakable dropped the car and acknowledged the police and the medics with a smile and a thumb up.

  "RPG! Take cover!"

He heard another officer shouting and then the next thing he heard was the distinctive sound of a rocket shooting. Before he would turn his head towards the bank, the rocket hit him and was engulfed in fmes. The crowd was in shock and held their breath as they watched the cloud of smoke clearing by the wind.

A shadow emerged out of the smoke and Unbreakable emerged unscathed, defying the destructive force of a projectile that would obliterate a normal person.

However, the young hero was not happy about that.

"You got dust all over my jacket… Not cool." Unbreakable spoke in an annoyed tone, though at the same time he was so gd his jacket wasn't destroyed. "Alright, pytime is over." He cracked his knuckles, rose into the air and flew away to surround the building.

"Spread out and cover the fnks! Don't let the cops try to sneak on us!" Inside the bank, the gang leader wearing a War Woman mask barked orders to his men while he reloaded his assault rifle.

In the lobby, a small group of hostages huddled together, all of them were wearing vests full of explosives after the robbers forced them to wear them. But they kept holding hope that a hero had arrived and was going to rescue them.

"Shit! Shit! Shit! What do we do now? The rocket didn't do shit to him!" A robber wearing the Martian Man mask shouted, getting panicked while hearing the loud whistling noise coming from the outside.

"Get a hold of yourself, dammit! Now get the RPG ready again!" Another one who wore The Immortal's mask grabbed his partner by the colr before shoving him away.

"Guys… Do you hear anything?" The fourth bank robber who had the mask of Darkwing asked, before the gang noticed they couldn't hear any noise of Unbreakable flying outside.

The air crackled with anticipation as the robbers nervously scanned their surroundings, fingers hovering over their triggers, waiting for the hero to show himself. But suddenly, the sound of gss breaking alerted them, followed by a blur whizzing by and tackled the thug who stood between the others. By the time they turned around and noticed their partner was gone, they heard the gss breaking again before they noticed a hole in the window.

"Oh shit, he got Kyle!" The thug with the Martian Man mask shouted in disbelief, only to be whacked in the head by his partner.

"Dumbass! You're not supposed to reveal his name in front of the hostages!" The man wearing the Immortal's mask cracked before shifting his attention to the hostages. "Y'all didn't hear shit! You got it?!"

Yet another shattering gss surprised them, and the blue blur took down the Martian Man, hoisting him into the air. The other two robbers looked up and saw their partner was being choked out by Unbreakable while holding him up by the neck.

"Gaah!… Gulk!…" He gagged as he kicked his legs up to break free, but gradually felt his consciousness fading.

"Hey, so, is there a reason you're sporting those masks? I mean, your friend here is Martian Man. Don't you think that's racially insensitive?" Unbreakable spoke casually as he lowered down and released the thug, letting him fall down to the floor unconscious.

Unbreakable then spotted another robber with The Immortal's mask cocking his shotgun and aimed at him, but using his super speed, he closed distance and grabbed the cannon before bending it upward, rendering the gun useless.

"You know, the only thing that's weird for me is that I feel this is gonna be about The Immortal getting shit on." Unbreakable commented while scolding at the gun wielding robber whose eyes widened behind the mask.

He pulled the shotgun from his hands and hit him with the butt to knock him out. After that, he raised his knee and broke the shotgun in half.

"Alright, three down… one to go." He turned around to confront the leader and approached him. "Okay, so you're supposed to be War Woman, but you're a man and she was a lesbian, I think. So is this hatred towards female empowerment?"

"That's close enough!" The gang leader suddenly pulled out a detonator out of his jacket so Unbreakable could see it. "You know what this is?"

"You ask me as if this is the first time I've seen that thing, but enlighten me." Unbreakable folded his arms with an unamused expression.

"This detonator will make eight pounds of C4 strapped in each and every one of the hostages blow up, painting this floor with their bloody guts!" The gang leader pointed to the group of hostages in the lobby. "Thanks to you, there's been a change of pns to make the police bring the negotiation and make them meet my demands! So now you'll do the job for me. I want you to break the vault door, and inside you'll find pallets with forty million bucks…"

Unbreakable whistled at hearing the amount.

"You're gonna carry them out and get me safely away from this pce with the money. Otherwise, I'll blow this entire building with everyone inside into oblivion, and the police will have an off day mopping up all the hostages's remains."

Noticing the hostages' fearful gazes, the young hero gnced at them, seeing their silent pleas for salvation and the bomb vests they're wearing. He didn't need to think twice before making a crucial decision, and then gnced back at the leader with a scowl.

"I have some solid points to make about how fwed your little pn is, but I'll get to the point. The answer is no. What's actually gonna happen is this: you give me that detonator, be a good boy, and wait here until a SWAT team arrives so you can turn yourself in. But if you resist, well… I'll be forced to do the thing the police forces are so good at." Unbreakable said, wearing a id-back smile even after he just made a threat.

"You even try anything and innocent blood will be stained in your hands! Can't you see what the hostages are wearing with your fucking sungsses? You might as well get rid of them because they make you look like a goddamn stinkin' hipster!"

The bank echoed with the sound of breaking gss, as Unbreakable's smile was gone in a fsh. He inhaled sharply to control his temper. "God, I forgot how much I hate that word…" He approached a desk where a mp was sitting on the table, which he unscrewed the lid and took it off.

"I will push the button right now if you don't do what I say!" The gang leader yelled as he was losing his patience.

Unbreakable ignored his threats as he pressed the mp's lid, fttening it to make it a disk.

"Did you hear what I said, or are you also deaf, hipster?!"

His brow twitched at hearing that insult again. Keeping his composure, he faced back at the gang leader while using his nail to sharpen the disk, creating an ear-piercing screech.

"Call me that again… I dare you." Unbreakable said with venom in his tone.

Despite the warning, the gang leader remained oblivious to the mistake he's going to make as he smiled scornfully.

  "Hip-"

Unbreakable threw the disk before he could even finish his sentence.

  "AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!"

Following the suspects' apprehension, the bank was secured by police while the bomb squad disarmed the vests and freed the hostages. Meanwhile, Unbreakable met up with the captain to give him the detonator he took from the gang leader.

"Careful with that thing. The bastard was thinking of going kamikaze just to make me steal the money for him." He said while gncing at the gang leader being escorted by the SWAT members, taking him to the medic while he's squirming in pain after losing his hand, not that he felt bad for him.

"We'll take care of the cleanup ourselves, kid. You did a great job." The captain held out his hand to express his appreciation.

Unbreakable accepted the gesture and made his way out of the bank. When he opened the doors, he was received by cheers from the crowd who watched the event, praising him for his heroic actions. He smiled and waved at them, as he was prepared to fly away to continue his job.

  "Wait! Mr. Superhero! Over here!"

He stopped and turned his head to spot the press, trying to call his attention while the cops were keeping them away from the scene. Normally, a superhero shouldn't have any kind of distraction and always have to focus on keeping the order anywhere, but in Unbreakable's case, he actually liked the attention he's getting. Besides, this could be a good chance to spread his name.

The hero approached the reporters as they gathered together to interview him, but the cacophony of questions rendered them mostly unintelligible. "Alright, alright, one at a time, please. I have some minutes to spare." Unbreakable asked politely with his hands up as he picked a random reporter. "How about you, the one in front of me?"

"For starters, can you tell us how do you feel after literally being hit by a rocket moments ago?" A female reporter asked while the cameras fshed to the hero's face, which he didn't mind since he had his shades on.

"Well, apart from the fact that I probably have to clean my jacket ter on, I'm perfectly fine. Thank you for your concern." Unbreakable replied as he dusted off his jacket. "Okay, now… You, what's your question?"

"How do you feel that not only you stopped a bank robbery, but also rescued a group of hostages and probably stopped what could've been a tragedy?"

"I can't take much credit." Unbreakable waved his hand in modesty. "All I did was take care of the criminals to give the police a chance to rescue the hostages. They also did a great job of keeping these punks busy until I arrived to give them a hand. Me, the superheroes, the police department and every w enforcement across the US have the same goal, and I hope we can keep working together. Who's next?"

"Can you tell us what your primary goal was to become a superhero? And why did you want to be one?"

"Well… I can go on a massive speech about justice or how I was inspired and all of that stuff, but I'm not gonna do any of that. I leave that job to the screenwriters." His answer drew some chuckles from the media. "But here's the fact. I do this because all I wanna do is just helping people. You don't need a reason, sometimes you do, but I'm just the type of person who wants to do the right thing. If I find a cat trapped in a tree, I want to help. If I find a dy who needs to cross the street, I want to help. You may believe me, you may not believe me, that's your choice. But all you need to know, it's that I'm here to help."

He cleared his throat after giving his most eborated answer to the media.

"Alright, I can answer one more question. Anyone?"

"Here! According to the rumors, your name is Unbreakable, correct? You made your debut by taking down KillCannon in Chicago, and you were accompanied by Invincible. Are you somehow reted to him?"

"I'm not going to confirm it, but just to let you know a secret, I'm the handsome twin." Unbreakable pulled down his shades to give everyone a wink. "Alright, I have to go and continue my hero duties. But rest assured, there'll be a next time you can take pictures of me!" He stepped away from the crowd and shot off into the air.

Feeling he could use some warm-up, Unbreakable flew leisurely through the city, circling around the skyscrapers, to even pass through the Gateway Arch. After making sure nothing else was going on around here, he immediately left the city and went to travel across the vast ndscapes.

As he slowed down, he looked up at the sky before a wild idea ran through his mind. He bent his body and propelled himself upwards, increasing his speed whilst feeling the wind blowing in his face and through his jacket. When he reached above the clouds, Unbreakable took a deep breath as he stopped in midair, closed his eyes and let himself drop.

He began flipping through the air freely with his arms crossing across his torso, then he spun around while pretending that he was riding an invincible skate. Unbreakable continued practicing his acrobatics as he was getting closer to the surface. After performing one more flip, he shot forward just when he was a few feet from hitting the ground.

With the excitement coursing through his veins, Unbreakable flew across a vast field next to a highway, as he came across a construction site. He went through a building while avoiding the pilrs of metal and concrete inside. When he found a scaffolding ahead, he loosened himself and twisted his body to cross it without colliding it, and continued to take off.

In the distance, he observed a pair of cranes transporting concrete tubes moving around. Growing a daring smirk, he approached them while watching the tubes aligning.

Once he saw the gap between them, he brought his arms down to his waist and went at full speed.

Just before the cranes went the opposite ways, Mike spun around inside the tubes and managed to reach the other side.

"HAHAHA! WHOOOOOOOOOO-HOOOOOOOOOOOO!" He howled ecstatically as he shot up to the sky.

Though that wouldn't st long as Unbreakable was starting to feel tired from all the rush. Suddenly, he felt his phone buzzing inside his jacket, before pulling it out of the pocket and saw a new text message from his mom. Filled with curiosity, he read the message which said the following:

Mom: Mike, I just saw your interview on the news! I just want to say you looked amazing and I'm so proud of you for your honesty and for what you did at the bank. I'm sure Mark would feel the same way.

Smiling at her kind words, he responded to her message as he let himself float down in midair while 'ying' on his back.

Mike: Thanks mom. Just doing my best and, you know, being myself. How's Oliver by the way?

Mom: He's doing fine. He was also excited when he saw your face on TV :)

Mike: Gd to know he's my biggest fan … Hey, I might go back home earlier, do you need me to bring something by any chance?Mom: I'm fine for now, thank you. But if you see Mark, could you check on him? I just need to be sure he's doing fine, but don't tell him what I told you.

Mike: Don't worry, mom. You can't count on me! ;)

Unbreakable kept his phone and continued to fly over a city to do more patrol. "Alright… Seems everything quiet around here. Before he could finish his sentence, he heard an explosion nearby before spotting a column of smoke pouring out from the downtown area. "Or maybe not…"

He descended toward the smoke, and as he neared, a creature-like screech reached his ears. As he circled around the skyscraper, he spotted a giant monster that looked like a bug.

It had 6 legs, three on each side connected to one major abdomen body. However, it had tusk-like fangs jutting from the sides and into hooks, and the carapace was akin to a beetle's, as if a predatory beetle with red stripes along the shell. It was about as rge as a pine tree, and wider than 4 of them. Considerably rger than most trucks, and quite frankly, still lethal and dangerous.

The giant beetle was causing destruction by demolishing buildings with its tusks while stomping through the street. He also spotted civilians trying to flee from the chaos, but some of them were in danger of being crushed as the beetle gained up on them.

Acting quickly, Unbreakable descended and flew forward with his fist stretched out with a burst of speed, and nded a powerful punch to the beetle's head that left it dazed for a moment. This gave the other civilians the chance to run away.

Unbreakable hovered in front of the giant bug to look at its hideous face with four piercing red eyes. "You know, I never squashed a bug in my life, but I'd probably need a big boot to put you down."

The giant monster screeched at him and lurched forward with its sharp fangs wide open and poised, but Unbreakable floated away to avoid getting bitten and then flew around to nd a couple of strikes to the face.

The giant beetle tried to strike him with its cws, but Unbreakable flew down and delivered an uppercut under the maw that even the monster felt the hit through its armor. However, Unbreakable noticed the beetle became livid as it screeched once more and suddenly spewed some sort of green, gooey-like substance.

"Whoa!" Unbreakable soared through the air, avoiding a single drop of the viscous goo nding on him and instead they spttered all over the nearby buildings and the street.

He turned around to notice the concrete of the walls started to melt with smoke coming out of them, causing the chunks to fall off the structure.

Suddenly, a scream of a female caught Unbreakable off guard and looked down to see a woman carrying a child in her arms, trying to avoid the falling remains of a building raining upon her.

A loud crack made him look back at the crumbling wall and saw a giant chunk just colpsed and headed down straight for the defenseless woman, which she froze and hugged her child tight to her, awaiting her fate.

"No!" Unbreakable swooped down and got between the mother and the crumbled wall, raised his hands and stopped the giant rock from crushing her. He looked back down at the mother while carrying the boulder. "Are you okay, miss?"

While the mother was stunned to see who was his saviour, she nodded her head with grateful eyes. But then her eyes widened and let out a frightened gasp. Noticing she was looking behind him, Unbreakable turned around and saw the giant beetle was ready to crush him with its cws raising up.

"Aw crap." He cursed under his breath, unable to do something with his hands full but to prepare for the worst. But suddenly, he heard something cracking that sounded more like thunder.

  ZA-POW!

A lightning bolt hit the giant bug's shell with an explosion that sent the bug stumbling, interrupting its attack on Unbreakable, which gave him the chance to throw the boulder away and tell the innocent woman to get out of the street. Looking back, he watched the beetle shifting its attention to whoever threw that bug, but at that moment, he saw a blur covered in lightning flying straight at the monster.

  BAM!

The giant beetle was thrown back when it was punched in the face that created a shockwave across the surrounding area. With sparks running through its shell, the bug struggled to keep its bance.

"You're not going to hurt anyone under my watch, spawn of evil!" Said a female heroine hovering in front of the monster.

She was a beautiful young woman with long blond hair and a patriot-themed costume, which was a white and blue leotard with a chest window that's shaped like a star. She also wore a red masquerade with a small gem on the bridge of her mask, a pair of long white and red striped gloves, and matching thigh-high boots.

"Faithful lighting! Kamen America! To prove the justice of our culture, I will vanquish you!" The heroine, known as Kamen America, procimed herself as lightning crackled around her fists.

"Well, God bless America…" Unbreakable muttered, pushing down his shades to get a better view of Kamen America's beauty. Might as well take the chance for introductions as he flew up towards her.

When she sensed someone was approaching, she turned her gaze and was surprised to meet another superhero. "Oh, hey there! You're also dealing with that bug?"

"Yeah, though I just got a bit of trouble with that until you came along. That was pretty cool what you just did, by the way." Unbreakable said with a genuine smile.

"Oh, thanks! I'm still getting used to bioelectric powers and all, but I'm getting the hang of it!." Kamen America replied as she let the sparks of lightning dance around her hand.

"So that's what 'Faithful lighting' comes from. That's a nice catchphrase."

"You really think so? Heh, I've been working so hard to come up with that, but I appreciate that!" She giggled bashfully, feeling fttered by the compliment.

However, they both knew this wasn't the good time to get to know each other as they noticed the giant beetle has now recovered and screeched at them.

"Careful. That thing can also spit acid, and we can't let it melt the entire block with people inside." Unbreakable warned as he clenched his fist.

"Got it! But if we need to take down that beast without more colteral damage, we must drive him out of the city!" Kamen America suggested as she gathered up her lightning around her hands.

"Leave it to me, sweetie pie!" Unbreakable smirked, willingly on board with the idea.

He swooped in and nded his fists on the beetle's head with a hook, before whirling around and flew back down to nd a straight jab. The giant beetle tried to devour him, the young man dodge it and rose upwards. Once he was above the beetle's head, he clenched his fist and then brought them down to smash the beetle's skull.

The beetle fell on its face first into the concrete as Unbreakable flew back towards Kamen America. When the bug raised back up, gring at both heroes with its piercing red eyes before it let out a furious roar to the sky.

"Yup, now he's pissed!" Unbreakable chuckled to see they have its undivided attention now.

"I can see that! Quick, let's draw him out to us!" Kamen America said before she and Unbreakable soared up to the sky.

Just as they expected, the beetle spread its wings and flew out of the street to pursue both superheroes. Flying over the city, Unbreakable and Kamen America were moving around so the monster wouldn't try to spit acid on them. They didn't have to worry about flying faster since the beetle barely could catch up with their speed.

"Alright, that should be far enough! Let's end this!" Kamen America turned around, charged a lightning bolt, and threw it at the beetle to stop its advance.

Unbreakable soon followed it by diving back at the monster and throwing a right hook at its face. While he surrounded the monster, Kamen America flew behind the beetle and shot another bolt at its shell.

The beetle shrieked in pain as electricity coursed throughout its body, but the bug shook it off and twirled around to cast a menacing gre at the blond-haired woman. She shot another bolt, but this time the beetle swatted away with its tusk and flew towards her.

Kamen America flinched and hovered away while trying to charge another bolt, but thankfully just before the beetle was closing distance with her, Unbreakable stepped in and punched the beetle away from her.

He stood over the beetle's abdomen and delivered a barrage of punches to its vulnerable part, only to stop when he noticed the acid dribbling out of the beetle's fangs. His eyes widened and flew away just in time before the acid would nd on him.

Unbreakable met up with Kamen America as they watched the giant beetle regain its aloft and flew straight at them. They split apart to dodge the beetle's tusks, and Kamen America used the chance to charge her bioelectricity powers in her hands.

"STATIC SHOCK SMASHER!" She shouted and thrust her palms forward into the beetle's shell, delivering a shocking blow that electrocuted the monster.

Unbreakable took his turn as he flew under the beetle and delivered a blow to its chin. He then grabbed one of the tusks and spun the monster around until he threw the monster away, only to buy some time so he and the beautiful heroine could come up with a pn.

"That thing's armor is too thick to break it easily. Any ideas?"

"I just have one that I think might work. I need you to throw me directly at it!" Kamen America replied, gncing at him with determination filled in her face.

"Are you sure?" Unbreakable asked with a hint of concern on his face.

"Yeah, throw me as if you're an olympian in a javelin contest! Hurry!" She hovered next to him as she saw the beetle was coming at them.

"Alright." Unbreakable nodded without a hesitation or second thought, before he grasped her hands and started spinning around. Once he increased the speed, he let her go and threw her to the giant monster.

  FWOOOSH!

Kamen America shot forward with both arms stretched as she and the beetle were closing distance from each other. Right before they both collided, she flipped through the air and stuck her leg out, as she concentrated her lighting on the sole of her boot.

"STATIC OLYMPIAN…." The patriot-themed heroine raised her voice as her foot pnted on the beetle's belly. Upon the impact, she sent an electrical charge across its body. "JAVELIN!"

The beetle screeched as it was being shocked with waves of bioelectricity that it could even feel under its thick armor. Its body then began to glow with bright yellow that Kamen America knew what was going to happen as she flew away, as the beetle body mass bloated up as if it was being infted. And then…

  BOOOOM!

Unbreakable whistled as he watched the monster getting blown up with a loud noise that resembled thunder. Its remnants of meat and shell rained down like scraps of a destroyed warpne.

"Well, you look at that. Fried beetle, a delicacy from Bangkok, Thaind." He quipped as Kamen America caught up with him.

"Eh, sorry, but I don't eat that kind of food. I'm much more of a milkshake and hamburger type." Kamen America replied with a nonchant shrug.

"Ah, the true American way." They both exchanged a ugh, taking a moment to savor the victory after saving another day. However, Unbreakable noticed something odd on the girl and spoke out. "Hey… I don't wanna arm you, but your hair is turning brown."

"Huh?" Kamen America grabbed a hair lock with her fingers and saw it was phasing from blonde to brown. "Oh no! My powers are wearing off! I need to go back to the ground! Hey, can you stick around with me so I won't fall down from the sky?"

"Is the American fg red, white and blue?" Unbreakable made a rhetorical question, but was good enough as an answer for her.

He and Kamen America flew back to the city in a haste as the young woman tried to keep her powers from decreasing, but at the very least she had someone for the worst-case scenario if her powers run out before she touches nd.

As they flew over the city, Kamen America took the lead and lowered herself down to the top of a building with Unbreakable nding next to her. She let out a breath as her blonde hair completely turned brownish.

Unbreakable would be a liar if he'd say this didn't surprise him, as he initially thought blonde was her natural hair color. Then again, changing hair colors was an effective way to hide their real identity.

"That's much better. Now where did I leave my… Oh! There it is!" The young woman headed to the rooftop entrance, where a backpack was lying next to the door. When she picked it up and opened it, she took her casual clothing out of the bag and began dressing up over her costume.

"You know, I don't think I've ever seen you before. Are you a new hero?" The young auburn-haired woman asked as she slipped on her pants.

"That is correct, babe. Name's Unbreakable." He pushed down his sungsses so he could cast a wink at her. "I just got started about a week ago after I dealt with a super vilin throwing a tantrum. After that, I've been just catching low-timed criminals so far, but as long as I can still do a good deed, I don't mind."

"Sounds like you're off to a good start. I also wanted to help people with my new powers, but… let's just say I've been held back by people who just didn't share the same belief." She sighed while putting on her jacket.

That piqued Unbreakable's curiosity as he thought about asking how that happened, but since that subject was something she wouldn't like to talk about, he thought it'd be best to not pry.

"Man, that really sucks. Sorry to hear that." Unbreakable offered some kind words to at least cheer her up.

"It's okay, at least I'm finally free to make my own decisions without having a leash on my neck." She waved her hand reassuringly.

Unbreakable nodded as he stared at her brownish hair. "So how did you gain those powers to begin with?" He asked while leaning against the wall.

"Aahh, now that's a good question!" After she finished dressing up, she turned around with her bosom sticking out, excited to share her background story with another hero. "I was crushed by a meteor!"

  …

"That's it?" Unbreakable blinked behind his sungsses and titled his head in disbelief. "That was the most tame origin story I ever heard."

"Well, excuse me for not knowing you've been expecting a compelling backstory!" She huffed with her arms crossed. "What about you, Mr 90s? I doubt yours is better than mine."

Unbreakable raised an eyebrow and snorted, as he knew his answer was probably gonna blow her mind. "As a matter of fact, I'm the son of an alien from outer space and a loving human mother, who was granted with his father's powers as he grew up and decides to use them for good."

As he predicted, the young woman's eyes widened after hearing his story. At first, she grew incredulous and thought he was just messing around with her, but she didn't find any sign of humour in his tone.

"... You're not gonna probe my butt, are you?" She asked, wearing an accusatory look but her voice dipped with teasing.

"I mean… You do have a nice butt." Unbreakable titled his head to the other side, as if to take a glimpse of her behind.

"Eek! You pervert alien! Get away from my butt!" The young woman cried out, pyfully covering her whole body with her arms to shield herself.

"Come on, just gimme that butt!" Unbreakable grinned 'evilly' and reached out to her with his hands .

  "Nooooo!"

They both looked at each other as silence filled in the air, but then they couldn't hold back much longer and burst out ughing. From this moment, Unbreakable could feel that he's now building a new bond not just with a person, but also a hero he never met before, not even in his world. Maybe there are even more things he needed to learn about this universe.

"Hey, if there's a chance we will work together again, we should get to know each other first. I'm Charlotte, but you can call me Carly! Nice to meet you!" She extended her hand for a shake.

Unbreakable smiled and shook her hand. "Michael. Call me Mike for short."

"Alright, Mike!" Carly winked at him. "Hey, are you hungry? Our little skirmish with a bug has worked my appetite." She asked while rubbing her belly after feeling her stomach grumbling.

"Oh, hell yeah! How about we go for some burgers like you mentioned earlier? I would kill for one of them!" Mike rubbed his hands together.

"You sure you wanna go with your costume? I mean… not that it bothers me cause it actually looks so good on you, but some people might get the wrong idea about a girl hanging with a superhero." Carly rubbed her chin while looking at the hero costume he was wearing.

"Ugh, yeah, you're probably right, but the thing is… I didn't get a chance to buy some new clothes. You see, I'm still in search of a new wardrobe that is inspired by my alter ego." He gestured himself while posing in front of her.

"Oooohh, you mean you want to get into fashion?" A grin spread across Carly's face. "Fear not, darling. I got you covered!"

Carly then pulled her cell phone out of her backpack and started dialing a number, as Mike only watched her curiously. She waited for a short while until her call was picked up.

"Vicki, I need you to come and meet me up! We have a new potential customer!"

Not long after, Carly was standing in front of a stall in the dressing room as she was waiting for Mike to come out. They arrived in a thrift shop where Carly could help him find some new clothes he could wear over his costume. Though it would take for a while since she and Mike picked so many clothes.

The curtain was pulled open and Mike came out to show his fashion advisor his new look. He sported a shirtless, pink tank top with a fming white star covering over the center and a pair of dark denim pants fastened with a matching belt.

"How do I look?" He asked, standing with full confidence before Carly.

She rubbed her chin while eyeing critically at his attire, but then shook her head. "Don't get me wrong, it makes you bold wearing pink, but all of it makes you look like…"

"A French male hooker? Yeah… maybe you're right." Mike sighed as he looked at himself in the mirror, having a second thought. "Alright, let me try these, then." He grabbed another batch of clothes from Carly's hands and went back inside the stall to change.

As Carly waited patiently, she noticed out of the corner of her eye someone was approaching while carrying another batch of clothes that their face was covered.

"That's all that I could find. I hope that will be enough." Said a young woman, though she sounded strained from carrying that pile.

"Thank you, Vicki. I appreciate you coming with us here." Carly took the clothes and revealed her best friend to be a young woman around her age, wearing a pair of round gsses and a green hairband over her dark brown medium hair.

"Don't mention it. When you told me you met another superhero, I couldn't help but be curious to meet him in person. He seems very nice." Vicki smiled while gncing at the stall where Mike was inside.

"Tell me about it. He's also very funny." Carly giggled as she remembered his jokes. However, she gazed at her friend with a rather serious expression. "Actually, there's also something I need to tell you. I just encountered another giant monster in another city. It was a giant bug this time."

"Again? And let me guess, did it turn into mud after you defeated it?" Carly asked, with her arms folded.

"To be fair, me and Mike defeated it together. But here's the interesting part. The monster was nothing like the others I've faced. In fact, it exploded into pieces instead of melting into that component, which could mean it was a regur organic one."

"What? A-Are you sure?" Vicki almost stammered, understandably in disbelief at that shocking detail.

Carly nodded with her head. "I saw it exploding into pieces instead of melting into mud. That hasn't happened before. It could mean that whoever is creating them found a new way to turn small living things into giant monstrosities."

Their conversation was put on hold when Mike stepped out of the stall, revealing himself wearing a puffer pair of pants and jacket with a fishnet shirt underneath, and red-trimmed sungsses.

He took off the shades to see their reactions, only to notice Carly and Vicki grimacing. "What? Too extravagant?"

"Eeeehhh… I mean… What's with the shoes?" Carly pointed at the big red boots he was wearing.

"I dunno. They're just surprisingly comfy." Mike shrugged nonchantly.

"Yeah, I say you should change with something else." Vicki sighed as Carly handed him the next batch of clothes.

"Oh, I think those would be good enough. Okay, just give me a minute!" Mike slipped back into the stall and started changing again.

"It doesn't make any sense. What's the purpose of picking something like an insect, turning it into a kaiju-level monster and releasing it to the city?"

"And why all of a sudden they changed from creating creatures with mud to that? I'm not sure if there's some sort of connection between them, though." Carly frowned while rubbing her chin in deep thought, but then she snapped her fingers. "Oh, I almost forgot? Did you find out anything with the sample I gave you the other day?"

Vicki sighed and shook her head. "I ran the tests this afternoon, but the results were inconclusive. At this point, I wonder if we'll ever get another sample."

Before Carly could think of something, the curtain was pulled open once more and Mike came out, and this time the girls had their jaws scked.

He was now wearing a denim vest over a dark shirt and a pair of jeans. His shoes were made of leather and had buckles instead of ces. Mike also wore a steel bracelet around his right hand, and a metallic neckce around his neck. And st but not least, he donned a pair of squared amber gsses.

"Well?" Mike turned around to show his backside view as he turned over his shoulder with a smile.

Carly and Vicki shared a look at each other before smiling and gave him their thumbs up.

Moments after Carly and Vicki bought the new clothes for Mike, they headed straight to a dinner where they could have a meal together with burgers and fries. As they were enjoying their meal, Mike took the chance to get to know more about Carly and her best friend.

"Wait, so they really let you get into Area 51 just so you could pick up Carly?" Mike asked while munching his cheeseburger.

"Well, after I had to sign an NDA so I could leave their base without getting shot." Vicki replied with a forced chuckle as she tried not to remember the moment she had to do it under watch.

"And not long after I got back home, a lightning bolt struck me. Next thing I knew, my hair color changed into blonde and I could float! That's how I found out I gained powers and decided I could use them to help other people!" Carly finished the story before she drank her milkshake with a straw.

"That's so cool. And that's how you became Kamen America, right? I can imagine you were inspired by the Japanese TV shows to come up with that name."

"Actually… I thought Kamen was the word for Power, like the Power Rangers series, you know." Carly answered as she felt awkward to respond to that.

Mike froze just when he was about to take a sip of his drink, looking at Carly in a mix of shock and disbelief as he slowly set the cup down. "You're joking… You gotta be joking. Please, tell me she's joking." He turned at Vicki.

"Trust me, I was as disappointed as you are." Vicki replied with a solemn expression.

Mike groaned loudly while rubbing his eyes. "I hope you're ready to tell the others how to pronounce that name…" He finished the st bite of his hamburger and crumpled the paper with his hands. "By the way, I couldn't help but overhear you girls talking about monsters made of mud. What's that all about?"

"Well… remember that bug we dealt with? So here's the thing, I encountered some giant monsters when I started using my powers, but unlike this time, they would melt into mud after I defeated them. Have you ever seen anything like that before?" Carly asked as she leaned closer to him to make this conversation a little more private.

"Hmm, I've seen my brother and other heroes taking on kaijus and ginormous supervilins, but monsters made of mud? That is definitely new. Although, that sounds to me that it should be the work of a vilin who could have that sort of power. " Mike leaned back against his chair.

"We still don't know if whoever's making the mud monsters is the same person who created that giant beetle, but we need to focus on the important matter." Vicki said with her finger tapping on the table. "We need to figure out where they come from. Mike, I hope I'm not asking too much, but if by any chance you find one of these things, bring me one of their samples so I could run more tests in my b. With your help, we might find some answers real soon."

"Sure, I'd be gd to help whatever I can. And if I find anything that could help you with your tests, I'll let you know." Mike nodded with a smile.

"Thanks, Mike. We really appreciate it." Carly said with a sincere smile as she finished her milkshake. Suddenly, she perked up. "By the way, you mentioned your brother is also a superhero, right? Can you tell us more about him?"

Mike raised an eyebrow, but he felt more pleased to tell them about his brother. Letting out a heartfelt chuckle, he spoke. "Well, I don't know if you ever heard that name before… but they call him…"

Somewhere in the rocky field, Cecil was standing on a cliff while watching over his scientist team collecting the remains of the giant beetle monsters that fell from the sky not long after Mike and that blond girl destroyed that creature for good. While he wished they wouldn't leave such a mess, he knew there was something odd about it compared to the past incidents.

Hearing the sound of footsteps from behind, Cecil turned over his shoulder and saw a man with short brown hair and wearing a grey suit and a pair of gsses approaching him.

"What do you got, Donald?" Cecil asked as he faced back forward.

"Sir, our team just confirmed that the monster is not made of the same material as the previous creatures we tested. However, they also confirmed that this one is not sharing the same genetics that could be cssified as organic. Almost as if… it was made of a non-organic material." Donald answered with a professional tone, though Cecil could notice he was expressing some disbelief by the results.

Cecil's frown deepened as he tried to figure out if there's some sort of connection with the previous monster attacks that's been becoming unusually recurrent.

"Are there any updates with mud samples?" Cecil inquired.

"As a matter of fact, we just got the report from the b. Our scientist discovered that the traces of the radiation found in the mud are made up by particles that don't belong on this pnet. They're also known as… Chimeratons." Donald replied as he handed the tablet to Cecil so he could look at the results.

While Cecil read the info, he could've sworn he had heard that anomaly before. "Chimeratons you said… I remember I read that simir report from Area 51 not too long ago. Hmm…" Clearly, this was not just a coincidence.

"You want me to look more into that?" Donald asked, growing as curious as his boss.

Cecil took a moment to think, but then shook his head. "That won't be necessary. For now, we're just gonna let this Unbreakable and Kamen America try to sort this out themselves. But we'll keep tabs and collect more samples of these things. Hopefully, we'll have a trace of who's basically making these things. I wanna make sure if this wouldn't be a wasted potential." He turned around and began walking to the other side.

"What happens if it has nothing to do with that?"

"Then we're gonna treat it as a stain that can be easily removed with chlorine." Cecil finished before he teleported back to the GDA HQ.

N/A: And we wrap this up! I hope you really enjoyed the introduction of Kamen America in this story! Honestly, I wasn't expecting I would include her, but when I just started to look more into that comic, I got the idea that she could definitely fit in this universe! So yeah, you will see more of her and the rest of her teammates!

Now, there's a chance I will keep updating this story, but for now I need to take a break and see what should I do next.

As always, don't forget to leave a review, hit follow and/or favorite to support my story! It will mean a lot! Also I'm pnning to add some interesting exclusive content for Unbreakable in my Patreon page, so if you wanna look more into that, just ask me!
