"And God said, 'Let there be a vault between the waters to separate water from water.”(Genesis 1:6)
The second day of creation is a day of separation: the waters above and the waters below are divided by a vault – the visible sky. But in prophetic terms, this is no longer a day of order. It is the day when Heaven is violated. The angels no longer remain in their appointed place. The earth, already stained by the sin of man, is about to be defiled by another fall: the fall of the Watchers.
The Watchers and the Daughters of Men
According to the Book of Enoch, the angels known as “Watchers” were sent to watch over humanity. But their gaze, meant to be protective, became lustful. The beauty of the daughters of men ignited in them a forbidden desire. And desire became decision.
"Let us choose wives from among the daughters of men and beget children.” (Enoch 6:2)
This decision marks the crossroads of a new rebellion. Not only spiritual, but also biological. For the union between angels and humans gave birth to a hybrid race – the Nephilim, giants in stature and cruelty.
"The giants were on the earth in those days... these were the mighty men of old, men of renown.” (Genesis 6:4)
A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.
But this “renown” was not glorious. It was a renown of brute force, destruction, and domination of the weak. The world quickly became a stage of universal corruption.
Azazel and the Forbidden Secrets
One of the leading Watchers, Azazel, is the one who brought humans forbidden technologies and knowledge: weapons, cosmetics, astrology, enchantments. Instead of watching over creation, these angels perverted it, turning mankind into a laboratory of sin.
"Azazel taught them to make swords, knives, shields, breastplates... to paint their faces and to corrupt their bodies.” (Enoch 8:1)
Thus, the battle is no longer just between good and evil, but between creation and corruption. The whole earth groans under the weight of sin – and Heaven no longer remains silent.
The Cry of the Oppressed and God’s Intervention
"The earth complained, and the voice of its lamentation rose to the gates of Heaven.” (Enoch 7:6)
Enoch is called once more. This time, not just as a witness, but as Heaven’s messenger. God commands him to pronounce judgment upon the fallen angels and upon the giants born of them. Judgment is not delayed.
"I will bind them all under the dark mountain, until the day of judgment.” (Enoch 10:12)
The angels are cast out, the giants destroyed. But the consequences cannot be erased so easily. Humanity is deeply wounded. A world corrupted, full of blood and wickedness. The waters are preparing to rise again – not the waters above or below, but the waters of judgment.
Symbols of the Second Day
? The vault between the waters – symbol of divine order broken
? The Watchers – angels who chose to become human, violating the divine law
? The Nephilim – giants born of combined sin
? Azazel – symbol of unsanctified knowledge
? Enoch – the prophet who delivers Heaven’s sentence
Final Reflection: Heaven Brought Too Low
The second day is a day of forbidden mixture. Between angels and men. Between Heaven and earth. Between order and chaos. It was the first time God decided He could no longer watch in silence. A divine intervention is near.
But before judgment comes, a plan of salvation is born. A man, a family, an ark. And on the Third Day, the earth will be covered in water – but also prepared for a new beginning.
What the Watchers once attempted, man now fulfills – not as a victim, but as the architect of his own corruption.
