Chapter 7 Refining Techniques

A month passed quickly, and in this month, everything about me changed dramatically. First of all, I completely mastered the Dwarf Axe Technique, as Grandpa Tribe said. Next is the issue of proficiency and actual combat skills.

As for my learning ability, the tribal elder was greatly surprised. In his long life, he had never seen anyone as smart as me.

As for the praise from the clan elder, I just smiled slightly. Studying is what Im best at, otherwise you think I became a double PhD holder at the age of 10 by chance? Its all because of my super strong learning ability!

What Im doing now is carefully observing other blacksmith uncles and grandfathers, observing how they apply their skills to forging.

After careful observation, I found that forging is not just a technique of hammering, but also involves many other aspects such as mining, smelting, alloying, quenching... The knowledge involved is endless, however... Im not worried about this at all. My strong point is that I never forget what Ive seen, observed and noticed. No matter what kind of knowledge or technique it is, once Ive seen it, I can quickly absorb and digest it, turning it into my own.

Now... I no longer study with the other kids, theyve only just learned the second axe of the 18 axes of the dwarves, its still too early for them to master it. Every day, I just go there and follow along with their morning exercises and evening closing exercises, and thats enough. The rest of the time, the clan elder grandfather lets me observe other dwarf blacksmiths forging, to experience the essence of forging!

On the other hand, my Nine Suns Divine Skill has also made rapid progress. Although I havent yet experienced the qi sensation described in the true classics, my body has become much stronger and more robust, especially in terms of strength. With each days consolidation and increase, my current strength is already quite considerable! The clan elder grandfather instructed that these next few days will be spent accompanying me to go outside the village for a trial by fire!

Its just the Dwarf Axe Technique, for this month, I havent gone to think about the Hundred Battles Sword Technique again, wholeheartedly studying the Dwarf Axe Technique. As the saying goes, having one more skill wont hurt, learning a bit more is always good, and even more so... The Dwarf Axe Technique is actually the Dwarfs Forging Hammer Method, which makes it even more worth my while to study diligently.

After a month of training, I have mastered the battle-axe skills proficiently. In the words of the clans elder grandfather, I have reached the point where I can actually go into battle, while other dwarf children will take at least another year to reach my current level!

Although it was only a month, my appearance had undergone tremendous changes. The muscles all over my body began to develop rapidly, and the hard training made my body full of strength. Although I was still far from maturity, compared to dwarves of the same age, my physical advantage was overwhelming!

Im looking forward to the upcoming trial, and Im excited... After studying for so long, I finally have the opportunity to go out of the village. Once I leave the village, I can take on two other jobs - mining and transportation!

Although my initial activity range is generally only within one kilometer, I believe that I will grow up quickly because... I have a clear goal, which is to become a qualified blacksmith as soon as possible and forge a precious sword with my own hands! For this goal, I will make every effort that I can pay for myself!

For several days, I have been practicing my dwarf axe skills with all my might, increasing my strength. At night, I sit up late in meditation, recovering from fatigue while slowly and steadily increasing my power!

Finally... The time for the trial is about to arrive, but... Before the trial begins, I still have one more important thing to do, that is to pay respects to my master!

As mentioned earlier, the dwarves have a rule that they will never forge any weapons or armor for other dwarves. In other words... I must forge my own weapon to participate in the trial! And to learn how to forge, I need to find a master, an apprentice myself to a dwarf blacksmith and learn the forging skills.

Generally speaking, a dwarfs master is his own father, because... every dwarf is an ironworker, there is no need to apprentice with others, usually... each dwarf has their own forging experience, such skills, if not passed on to their children, who would they be passed on to?

But Im different, I dont have any relatives here, everything is unfamiliar, so... my master must be chosen by myself and get the other partys consent.

Fortunately, my luck was really good, and the patriarchal grandfather highly appreciated my learning ability, personally accepting me as an apprentice. You know... The patriarchal grandfather is not only the greatest blacksmith of the dwarf tribe in 300 years but also the most talented blacksmith in thousands of years, having forged eight peerless weapons, thus becoming the patriarch of the dwarf tribe!

Spent a morning, the patriarchal grandfather personally taught me the basic skills of forging, the most basic forging techniques, and personally demonstrated how to forge a dwarf tribes special combat axe!

The dwarves battle axes are all short-handled, only the Minotaurs Krixus uses a long-handled giant axe, and the dwarves small stature determines that even with great strength, they cant use a long-handled giant axe at all!

Early in the morning, I first practiced dwarf battle axes for two hours, and then followed the tribal elder grandfather to the back of the village...

The dwarf village was built in a mountain valley, with only the entrance facing the wilderness. The inside of the village was surrounded by mountains. On ordinary days, most dwarves excavated minerals from the back mountain wall and carried out smelting and forging.

To the left of the Dwarf Village, there is a small dock. Outside the dock is a boundless and picturesque lake that stretches as far as the eye can see. I have seen the ocean before, but this lake differs from it in two ways: firstly, it doesnt have such turbulent waves; secondly...the water is green instead of being azure like the ocean!

After spending a whole morning, under the guidance of the tribal elder grandfather, I learned how to identify iron ore. Its actually very simple... First, look at the color, iron ore is relatively black and heavy, most importantly, the tribal elder grandfather gave me a small piece of magnetite, if its iron ore, the magnetite will be attracted to the iron ore.

After mining for a whole morning, I finally mined enough iron ore. The tribes elder told me that these ores were enough to smelt and forge the iron needed for a 20kg heavy dwarf axe!

After drinking some papaya porridge at noon, the tribal elder grandfather personally demonstrated how to smelt the ore and separate the stones and iron. After the demonstration, he let me try it myself. The tribal elder said that knowledge gained through personal exploration will be remembered more firmly!

A blast furnace is an earthenware kiln made of clay, first put special coke into it, after ignition, make the coke burn to the most prosperous, and then pour iron ore in, cover and carry out smothering burning.

The ones responsible for blowing the wind were ten Bi Diao beasts. The Bi Diao beast is a type of wind-elemental magical creature that can blow out strong gusts of wind from its mouth, causing damage to enemies...

Of course... These are all trained, unlike ordinary Beedrill which can only generate small whirlwinds, a trained Beedrill can blow winds that meet the blacksmiths requirements!

Through a dozen pipes, ten blast furnaces that are not as stupid as beasts blow strong winds, making the carbon in the furnace burn very vigorously, and the temperature also rises rapidly!

When the temperature exceeds a certain degree, the iron ore in the furnace begins to melt and turns into a magma-like liquid. At this point... the first step of smelting is completed.

When the ore in the furnace has all melted into a liquid, quickly prepare a wet and sticky lump of clay, come to the front gate of the furnace, use an iron bar to poke open the lower guide hole, and lead out the liquid inside...

Because the solution of iron ore is heavier than that of ordinary ore, ... all the molten iron will gather at the bottom. The liquid flowing out from the runner has more than 90% molten iron, which is exactly the main material for forging!

According to the amount of ore, determine how much molten iron is received. If too much is received, the solution of the rock will also be taken out, affecting the purity of the iron ore. However, if too little is received, the molten iron will be wasted and the unflowed molten iron will be discarded with other stone solutions.

After receiving the iron water, the first step of smelting is considered complete, and some pig iron has been obtained. Next... its time to start refining! To forge a good weapon, the refinement of ore is very important. The higher the purity of the iron, the better the material of the manufactured weapon will be, and accordingly... the strength of the weapon will also increase!

After the molten iron solution in the furnace is poured out, the molten iron is poured back in again, and after adding carbon, it continues to be smelted. After several repetitions, the resulting molten iron becomes high-purity molten iron!

Generally speaking, after nine consecutive refinings, the purity of molten iron can reach more than 99%, and it is already possible to start the next step!

Take out the mold that has been carved in advance, and catch the molten iron flowing from the sprue. When the molten iron fills the entire mold, there is hardly any remaining molten iron left.

After the molten iron in the mold cools down slowly, smash the mold and get a rough and ugly raw iron dwarf battle axe. Next... comes the most important work - forging!
