How long does it take to forge a good sword?
The whole day has passed, and I still havent found the answer to this question. Ive been busy until nightfall, but all Ive managed to do is just finish smelting. The iron water is still cooling in the mold, and forging... will have to wait until tomorrow!
After a night of meditation, my physical strength has recovered to its best state, and I am fully confident to face the most difficult tasks.
Rushing out of the house, I ran to the smelting workshop. As the first weapon forged in my life, I had invested too much heart and soul into it, and I couldnt wait to forge it immediately.
But... when the clan elder grandfather told me what I had to do today, I finally understood that a good weapon cant be forged in just one day.
What I want to do is very simple, just keep using a 20-kilogram iron hammer to strike and temper this rough iron axe...
Hitting different positions requires different techniques and skills. The 18 hammer methods of the dwarf tribe are a complete manifestation of this...
The dwarfs battle-axe has always been only one, which is the first weapon they forged, and will never be replaced afterwards...
After undergoing a thousand refinements, every dwarfs battle axe is the greatest weapon because... The special structure of the dwarven axe not only makes it more suitable for combat and chopping, but most importantly, when forging a dwarven battle axe, it can perfectly showcase the 18-style hammering technique, which is also known as the dwarves 18-style axe technique!
The dwarves battle-axes are taken out every day to be hammered, and while increasing the hardness and strength of the dwarven battle-axes, the 18 basic techniques of forging are also gradually solidified and deepened...
Dwarves are indeed a race obsessed with forging, battles are for tempering and honing techniques, while honing also practices the technique of battle, in this sense, dwarves are indeed born warriors!
The dwarves battle-axes are the smaller, the more formidable. The tribal elders battle-axe is only half the size of my current one, but its weight has not decreased in the slightest. After hundreds of years of continuous hammering and tempering... the tribal elders battle-axe has become a fine steel, nothing can cause it any harm! Not even a scratch will appear.
Moreover, through continuous forging and accumulation over time, the familiarity between humans and battle axes has become unimaginable. The tribal elders play with the battle axe is like a magic trick, and any action can be easily completed in his hands. When he reaches that level, attacks are no longer limited to the dwarven eighteen axes, and all sorts of moves are possible - only the imagination is the limit. The huge and heavy dwarven battle axe becomes as agile as an embroidery needle in the tribal elders hands.
What is called forging is to first burn the axe head with a strong fire until it turns red, then use iron pliers to clamp it out and hammer it vigorously. After the surface of the axe head has cooled down, throw it back into the fire and burn it again, then take it out and hammer it again. Repeating this process is the basic skill of forging.
Three days of continuous forging, finally... the rough protrusions on the surface of the axe were all flattened by me, and the entire surface of the axe became bright and shiny, smooth and flat, and finally had a sharp feeling like a weapon!
Dwarves weapons are very sharp, however... Dwarves never sharpen their blades, but instead use a hammer and special forging techniques to create sharp edges!
But in terms of strength and angle, my technique is clearly not qualified. The shape of the axe is determined by the mold, but the sharpness and solidity are determined by my forging skills.
In the words of my grandfather, the clan leader, Im just showing off my fancy moves now. The appearance of the weapon Ive forged is nice, but since my strength is still too weak... it cant even budge the metals deeper layers, and the durability of the weapon is very poor!
And... my skills are also very rough now, with uneven force and discontinuity, so the sharpness of the axe is not qualified either. However... all these need to be honed in actual combat and forging, as mentioned earlier, forging is fighting, fighting is forging, the two are completely interchangeable!
Because a dwarfs battle-axe is something that follows him throughout his life and will never be replaced, ...from the time he was young, the weight of a dwarfs battle-axe has already been fixed, its size and style have also been fixed, it is a 40-kilogram declaration flower axe style battle-axe, however...the specific details have some subtle changes!
Facing such a heavy giant battle axe, I gave up the idea of leaving the village as soon as possible, because I know... no matter what, the foundation is the most important thing. My current strength cant bear the weight of 40 kg battle axe at all. If I leave the village rashly like this, it will be of no benefit to me!
When I actively asked for the opportunity to delay the trial, the patriarchal grandfather smiled with relief. Such a calm temperament is the most important quality of an excellent forging master!
In the following days, I began my own forging career, every day tirelessly repeating the hammering of that increasingly black and bright battle axe! My arm strength was rapidly increasing with each strike, as well as with each nights meditation.
I pulled out a massive battle-axe from the forge, lowered my head and carefully hammered away, savoring and appreciating the subtleties of the dwarven hammering technique, observing and understanding the specific effects and functions of each hammering method!
No one else in this world could have had my insight; for no one has ever been educated as I have been.
On Earth, everyones habit is to find science to explain any problem they encounter, emphasizing principles and the essence of things. Having received such education for a long time, I have also developed the habit of pursuing truth unconsciously!
I myself studied metallurgy and mechanics, so I have a good understanding of the action of force, the properties of metals, and the behavior of metals under stress. Therefore... once I devoted my mind to comprehending and experiencing it, applying the knowledge I learned in school to forging, I quickly absorbed the essence of the dwarf hammer method!
From a scientific point of view, the dwarves hammering method is not perfect... Although it has evolved for over 900,000 years, this set of hammering methods is not the most scientific!
Gently placing the cooled battle-axe into the blazing furnace, I began to ponder carefully. The Hundred Battles Sword Technique is the most scientific and reasonable, with not a single superfluous movement, its efficiency is astonishingly high. In contrast, the Dwarf Mallet Technique has too many cumbersome moves; many movements that seem capable of unleashing greater mallet force actually create huge obstacles for exerting force.
Deep in thought, I pondered the similarities and differences between the Hundred Battles Swordsmanship and the Dwarf Mallet Technique. I attempted to merge the two, for I had already grasped the fundamental principles behind each movement... so as long as I could replicate this effect, whether it was the Hundred Battles Swordsmanship or the Dwarf Mallet Technique, they would be one and the same!
After half a year of thinking, I finally thought it through thoroughly. Half a year... maybe for some people, its not a very long time, but... when I finished learning all the high school courses, it only took me half a year too!
In these six months, I finally figured everything out. Although its not perfect yet and still has its shortcomings and flaws... Ive already merged the Dwarf Axe Technique and the Hundred Battles Sword Technique after compressing them, forming my unique forging and combat skill - Seven Extremes Slash!
The so-called Seven Cuts of the Axe is not literal, seven refers to my technique having only seven moves, each move with seven styles, its just a number, a quantitative word.
The word "absolute" means absolute, after half a year of thinking, I have determined that all the forging techniques and the skills of Bai Zhan Knife Method are absolutely included in these 49 basic styles of Qi Jue Zhan! Not only that... many skills of Bai Zhan Knife Method and Dwarf Axe Method that were not available, I also supplemented them.
As for the imperfections, shortcomings and loopholes mentioned earlier, they are just issues of connection between moves and techniques. The techniques themselves have no problems because... each move, each technique is deeply in line with scientific principles, cannot be changed, I used mathematical formulas to scientifically calculate for half a year before getting the final answer, every move, every technique has a complete and grand calculation formula behind it.
As for the word "cut", it actually means temporary, that is to say, this set of skills is not complete and still needs to be constantly refined and researched in order to reach a state of perfection.
But... for better sound, I replaced the temporary character with a cut character. Whether its visually or aurally, Qi Jue Cut is too cool.
Each move of the Seven Cuts contains seven forms, and each form is executed in sequence to form a single move. Each move has its unique characteristics. My current problem is how to connect moves and forms between them in the most scientific way? This question cannot be imagined solely by thinking, it must be figured out through continuous battles, only then can we determine what connections are the most reasonable in actual combat!
However... Although there are still regrets in this regard, however... In any case, the 49 moves of the Seven Cuts have been thoroughly and absolutely confirmed. Under the nod of the clan leader, I am now using the Seven Cuts technique when tempering my battle axe every day!
