Chapter 13: Escape at Sea

Even a journey of a hundred miles comes to an end. In the afternoon of the next day, a dark line appeared on the distant horizon. The dragon turtle stopped. Several guards were preparing a small wooden boat, and Grus expined to Liu Sen, "The retionship between Wind God Isnd and the mainnd is somewhat sensitive. Therefore, it is not advisable for the dragon turtle to approach the coast too closely. We'll switch to a small wooden boat."

Liu Sen nodded slightly. It seemed that his Wind God Isnd really wasn't very popur. It might appear imposing, dominating an eight hundred mile area of the sea, but in reality, it was utterly isoted. In the sea, it would be more accurate to say that it had thirty-five subordinates rather than thirty-five enemies. The mainnd also defended against it. Grandfather, oh grandfather! Besides the dragon turtle, what else do you have? And to pce all its prestige on a single creature, don't you find that to be a great irony?

The small boat was much more fragile than the dragon turtle. Standing at the bow, with Grus and Naka guarding on either side, they stood firm and steady. Liu Sen, facing the dragon turtle, called out loudly, "You go back and tell my grandfather and father not to worry about me!"

"Yes!" More than thirty people bowed together, "Wishing the young master a smooth journey!"

As the small boat gradually drifted away, the dragon turtle remained in its pce for a long time before finally disappearing from sight.

Liu Sen let out a long sigh, "Finally, I have the chance to see the world. I really wonder what the mainnd is like!" He was indeed looking forward to seeing the mainnd. The isnd had magic and swordmasters, power and beauties, thrills and ecstasy, but after all, it wasn't the mainnd. Everything the isnd had, the mainnd had too. Since his grandfather did not refuse his visit to the Magic and Martial Arts Academy, it was clear that the mainnd's level of magic was above his. This step would mark the beginning of a whole new journey.

"We're finally out!" Grus also said slowly.

"Yes! Nineteen years!" Naka also spoke, his voice heavy with emotion.

Liu Sen was stunned. What did they mean by nineteen years?

Naka slightly turned on his toes, "Akrus, you don't need to go to the mainnd anymore."

A chill rose in Liu Sen's heart. He abruptly stood up, but as soon as he moved his shoulder, a long sword suddenly whooshed from the side, accurately pressing down on his shoulder and forcibly pressing him onto the deck, "Don't move!" It was Grus!

Liu Sen's heart turned cold. These two damned subordinates had betrayed him. They were both first-level swordmasters, and here on a small boat surrounded by the sea, there was absolutely no escape. Liu Sen took a deep breath, trying to calm the turmoil inside, "Grus, Naka, why are you doing this?"

Both men's gazes fell on his face, and they too were surprised. This man, despite initially turning slightly pale, remained extremely calm, which was beyond their expectations.

"Speak up!" Liu Sen shouted, "If it's for gold coins, the gold is on you, you can take it away!" Pointing at Grus, "If it's for the dragon turtle shell, I've given it to you, and I won't take it back!"

Grus sneered, "You must have had a bad premonition when you gave me the dragon turtle shell, right, young master!"

Liu Sen said sarcastically, "Yes! And that premonition has come true, hasn't it, Mr. Grus!"

"You're very smart!" said Grus, "But if you can guess why we want to kill you, I'll really admire you!"

"I'm too zy to guess, just tell me!" Liu Sen stared into his eyes, "Tell me, who made you do this? Besides this dragon turtle shell and this bag of gold coins, what else did he promise you? Perhaps I can offer you more. You surely know I can do better than him!" Now, perhaps the only chance was to sway them with a bigger stake. As for the mastermind, it was almost obvious.

"You're wrong!" Naka interjected, "No one made us do this!"

"Even now, you refuse to tell the truth?" Liu Sen said, "Do you not intend to kill me?" The only ones who needn't keep secrets are the dead. If they intended to kill him, there was no need to hide anything from him.

"Today you're definitely going to die, so I might as well be honest with you!" Naka said grimly, "If you knew who we are, you'd believe that no one made us do this. We don't need anyone's orders!"

Liu Sen was stunned. At this point, there was no reason to lie. Could it be that his brother hadn't sent them? Had he completely guessed wrong?

"Even if you don't ask, I'll tell you!" Grus said, "We're from Nathan Isnd!"

"Nineteen years ago, Wind God Isnd destroyed Nathan Isnd. We're the only survivors!" Naka continued.

"Joining Wind God Isnd was to find an opportunity for revenge. You will be our first target!"

"The lives of ten thousand of our people were lost at your hands, so don't feel wronged!"

The two only spoke four sentences, their swords already lifted, pointing directly at Liu Sen's chest. Liu Sen couldn't utter a word. He could tell them that he wasn't really Akrus, but such an argument would be utterly ridiculous. He could tell them that if he were in charge of Wind God Isnd's future, it would be the greatest blessing for the remaining thirty-five isnds, but such a cim was too far-fetched, and they weren't among those thirty-five isnds anyway.

Liu Sen suddenly ughed, "You are very foolish!"

The two swords halted abruptly in front of his throat, casting his face in a stark white, as if Liu Sen hadn't seen them at all, "The two of you survived against all odds, how difficult was that? To endure for nineteen years, how difficult was that? And today, you're exposing yourselves just for me. Am I, Akrus, really worth that much?"

Grus responded, "The reason is simple. The time has come when we can reveal ourselves!"

The time has come for exposure? What pns did they have? Liu Sen calmly said, "Do you really think no one knows your identities? Why don't you use your brains and think about it? There are more than a thousand magicians and swordmasters on the isnd, so why were only the two of you chosen to accompany me?"

Grus and Naka's expressions darkened simultaneously. Yes, why? Had they fallen into someone else's trap? Liu Sen's eyes flickered, and he said leisurely, "Do you think you can kill me? Why not look over there?" He pointed slightly ahead.

Grus and Naka turned their heads simultaneously, their faces changing, but there was nothing in the endless expanse ahead. Startled, at the moment of their surprise, there was a spsh of water. They swiftly turned back, and the boat was empty. Liu Sen had jumped into the sea.

Both of them cried out at once, Grus tapped his toe, and the boat circled around. It was strange; he didn't surface at all.

"He can't escape!" Naka shouted, "Akrus' swimming skills are negligible, he definitely can't stay underwater for long!"

"Right!" Grus said, "You watch the front, I'll watch the back. As soon as he shows his head, immediately kill him with one sword. This kid is too cunning..."

How well Akrus could swim, Liu Sen did not know, but he knew his own swimming skills were indeed not strong. Jumping into the boundless sea was undoubtedly seeking death, yet he jumped anyway. The reason was very simple: he saw a pair of eyes, eyes that were signaling to him!

These eyes were under the water beside the boat, and he recognized them as belonging to the mermaid. As the two swordmasters aimed their swords at him, she silently appeared beside the boat, blinking her beautiful big eyes at him. He could see these eyes because he had always been calcuting his escape through the sea. The ocean was his only escape route, and the mermaid was indeed entering his line of sight.

With these eyes, Liu Sen's heart settled. Facing the two swordmasters, he had no chance, but with the mermaid's help, his chance had come. He just needed an opportunity for them to turn their backs, and in the sea, he absolutely believed the mermaid could help him escape this camity!

He succeeded. Under the water, he moved quickly, one hand tightly grasping another, not knowing how long he swam until he was almost out of breath, and suddenly, light flooded his vision, and his head emerged above the water. Wiping the water droplets from his face, Liu Sen took a long breath, "Good to see you again, truly!"

The mermaid flicked her hair lightly, sending water droplets flying. Her face revealed a sweet smile, like a daffodil blooming in the sea.
