It was time for Mina to think on her feet. What could she possibly do in this dense situation?
Should she tell the court the truth or continue to cover up for D. Vito and his sons crimes and lies. It seemed she was in between the proverbial hellish flames of the frying pan and a hard place.
But as Mina opened her mouth, she noticed something in Vito's hand. He had pulled his phone out and held it clenched in his fist to threaten her with Le Mort.
Something flashed in her mind all of a sudden. His greatest strength was also his greatest weakness.
Taking the phone out of the safety of his pocket--the only way to signal his cronies--was also the easiest way to disarm him.
Provocation to some extent would be a quality distraction. She looked at Raven who had also noticed this and winked at him. He slowly crept into the crowd, awaiting his chance.
"Your honor," Mina said boldly, thrusting a finger directly at D's throat. "There is indeed something the prosecution hasn't told everyone about his son."
D's finger eased over his E-phone touch screen. He was a man with nothing left and on the edge of calling in an apocalypse.
"What is it?" Divine answered.
"Yes pally," D. Vito asked. "How about you tell everyone and see what happens, punk."
Mina took a chance to yawn obnoxiously holding up her hand. She dramatically made noises with her mouth and moved her hand back and forth. "That yarn D. Vito just spun about his son is a total yawn!"
"What did you say dear?!" the judge said, her mouth hanging open too.
Mina shrugged her shoulders. "Sob stories are a dime a dozen. But D. Vito left out the most important part of the story..."
This tale has been unlawfully lifted from Royal Road. If you spot it on Amazon, please report it.
"Grrr..." Vito said, his face ripening red like a cherry. "How can you be so insensitive. And what part are ya talking about? Think about dis wisely before you speak, punk!"
Mina held her hand to her side and slowly lifted it. Her finger pointed straight at D. Vito yet again. "You forgot to tell everyone how Hot Dog Johnny is..."
"A what?!" Vito, Divine and some of the crowd exclaimed.
"A fish!" Mina said, her eyes sparkling mischievously.
"A fish?" everyone asked, completely baffled. Vito nearly dropped his phone due to the stupidity and nonsensical remark she just made.
Mina smirked. They were all dumbfounded but it would all make sense in a second. "A herring to be exact. A red one! A red herring because...BAG EM RAVEN!"
Raven who had tip toed through the crowd emerged on the other side and jump on Vito, wrapping his lanky birdlike arms around his neck.
"BANZAI!" he screamed.
"Eyyy what is dis?!!" D. Vito screamed, struggling to get the birdman off of him. "Dis was an ambush! Someone get him off me!"
Raven and D. Vito tumbled to the floor wrestling in front of the judge. Everyone screamed, but some cheered and some laughed as the toughest man from the Bronx wrestled with a flamboyant bisexual fan of the band Princess.
The no-nonsense judge screamed for security and soon, the bald bailiff was lurching towards them. Vito called for Dark Persecutor to save him too as he attempted to put the hurt on Raven. In the end, it seemed all those meat and cheese sticks had done D. Vito wrong as Raven emerged triumphantly having snatched the phone away from him. He stood up on the checkered floor, laughing like a maniac. "I'm so glad all that PE wrestling with sweaty men in high school really paid off!"
"Raven T. Lockwood!" the judge exclaimed. "What in the great green beans and chili con carne are you doing to the prosecution?!"
"I'll tell you what in a second," the bizarre birdman shouted and he threw the phone in the floor and stomped the heck out of it.
The scene was so confusing that both the bailiff and the Dark Persecutor just stood there dumbfounded.
"Your honor!" Mina exclaimed. "I can explain for him. D. Vito is the leader of the Aura and he had control of the French nuclear arsenal. He was planning on blowing this whole world to smithereens if he didn't win the case for his murderous deceased son who killed my boyfriend!"
The judge placed her hands to her temples. "I'm gonna need some serious migraine medication after this is over. Is all of this really true?"
"It is!" D. Vito growled with fury in his blood shot eyes.
He whipped out a remote. "But it won't matter you bunch of punks! Because even if I can't blow up the earth. I'm gonna detonate this courtroom with the help of the bomb inside my cyborg prosecutor!"
