Chapter 4: The Mysterious Visitor

As one of the underground gathering places in the north, Brandon Stone City is the pride of the gray dwarves. Its more like a huge cave than a city. Countless gray dwarves excavated this vast space with their blood and lives and built a prosperous and bustling city inside. Naturally, it also attracted countless intelligent races who gathered here from all over to rest briefly, trade or settle down.

To the dwarves of Brandons Stone Citadel, travelers were among the least noteworthy things they had seen in their long lives.

So when the guards at the gate saw a thin figure in black robes walking towards them, they didnt think anything was out of the ordinary.

"Halt! Travelers! This is Brandon Stone Castle, what brings you here?!"

The dwarf guard stepped forward with a heavy tread, frowning as he carefully sized up the group of people in front of him.

The one standing in the front was obviously a mage. The grey dwarves didnt have much good feelings towards these spellcasters, but they also werent as afraid of them as others were. Although the grey dwarves bloodline naturally prevented them from becoming mages, it also granted them superhuman resistance to magic. Ordinary mages really werent taken seriously by these grey dwarves.

Behind the black-robed mage, however, was a girl wearing a bright red dress, her dazzling golden hair making her quite eye-catching. At this moment, she had her arms wrapped around herself, her eyes narrowed, and a haughty gaze fixed on the guards in front of her.

There were no sturdy guards, nor anything remarkable. Just a glance was enough to make one wonder how they had managed to survive the dark passage and arrive at Brandons Rock Castle.

"Answer me, traveler! Bring out your gifts and arms for inspection!"

Perhaps thinking he could gain an advantage, a gray dwarf loudly shouted and raised the long spear in his hand, pointing it at the black-robed wizard in front of him.

But soon he regretted his actions.

  "Get out."

A cold, low voice came from the black-robed wizards mouth. Along with this sound, between the two of them, a semi-transparent ghost suddenly appeared out of thin air. Her whole body was transparent, wearing tattered and worn-out long robes, with a head of emerald green hair that seemed to be soaked in water, spreading and floating in all directions.

Right after that, the female demon suddenly stretched out her hand and grasped the long spear held up by the gray dwarf. Before the gray dwarf could react, a chill that pierced to the bone and was enough to freeze the soul flowed through the long spear without any stagnation and rushed into the gray dwarfs body.

Although the dwarf had a strong resistance to magic, no living creature could withstand the blow from death. The unfortunate guard let out a miserable cry and was sent flying backwards, heavily crashing into the thick stone wall. His face turned pale, his beard covered with a large patch of white frost, and his short body trembled uncontrollably due to the extreme cold.

Seeing this scene, the other two guards who were originally going to rush forward to rescue also stopped involuntarily, their faces pale as they stared at the black-robed wizard in front of them. Although they still didnt know who the wizard was, the female demon that suddenly appeared and the terrifying aura of death had already revealed his true identity.

  Necromancer!

  "Hmm..."

With a glance at the motionless grey dwarves, Zhan En let out a cold snort and then walked towards the city in front of him. This time, no one dared to block his way. Even others who were planning to enter the city held their breath, watching the three people with terrified and fearful eyes.

Until they disappeared, the air that had seemed to be frozen in place began to circulate again. Soon, one of the gray dwarf guards was seen running quickly into the city, and in the blink of an eye he was gone from sight.

"It seems those grey dwarves have begun to move, master."

She narrowed her eyes, with a graceful smile, Enya withdrew her gaze that was looking deep into the alley. Then she turned around like this and looked at Zhan En.

"What do you plan to do?"

Facing Enyas inquiry, Zhan En first habitually pushed his glasses before opening his mouth to speak.

"The dwarves are cautious and greedy creatures, I can guarantee that the arrival of a lich would make the ruler of this city sleep with one eye open. If he doesnt want his city to become a feast for ghouls, then I think he will definitely come looking for me... By then, they should try to entice me with generous rewards to serve them or help them solve some problems that the dwarves themselves dare not risk their lives on. And all we need to do is wait quietly until that time comes."

As he said this, Zhan En paused for a moment, but soon, a sinister smile appeared on his face shrouded in the cloak.

"I believe they wont keep me waiting for too long."

No matter the era, rumors have always spread the fastest and widest. Just as Jan had barely entered the inn and hadnt even had time to close his room door, the news of the death of the spirit master in Brandon Stone City had already spread throughout the entire city.

And the undercurrent also began to surge.

But at this moment, Zhan En didnt care about these trivial matters. In fact, while outsiders were busy running around for him, Zhan En himself was hiding in his guest room, smiling as he browsed through the intelligence floating before his eyes.

  Silver Elite (Female)

  Number: Ten people

  Rank: 1st Rank

  Attack: ★☆

  Defense: ★☆ (Spiritualization)

Special Ability: Soul Penetration (Any physical obstruction is non-existent for them, nothing can refuse the caress from the depths of their soul —— Piercing +15, Damage x3)

【Special Ability: Soul Devour (Despair is a fine wine, pain is a delicious steak, fear is a great dessert, and death is the final main course - when defeating an enemy, devouring their soul can automatically restore life and magic)】

Special Ability: Undead Transformation (Death is not the end, but a beginning. Only by giving up ones desire for life can one fall into this eternal cold world - with a certain probability, it can transform the opponent into an undead creature)

  Three special abilities!

Although he had expected it in his heart, Zhan En still revealed a joyful smile. Special abilities are only available to rare elites and are completely random. The highest level of the fully-equipped Flash Rare Squad has five special skills, while the female demon squad he summoned now has three special skills, which is already very good!

Moreover, the Succubus Guards defense has ten points, plus the resistance to physical attacks from spiritualization, as well as the ability to transform undead creatures, making it arguably the most useful summoning unit in the early stages.

Most importantly, as undead beings, they do not need to eat, and at most, they only swallow the residual souls of their enemies to recover. Even without residual souls, they can exist relying on the magic provided by Jains underground castle, and do not need to compete with Jain for that bit of food.

Jian was never a necromancer. As mentioned before, although he studied many spells in the demon tribes library, he couldnt use them due to his own limitations. The same applied to necromancy. Until now, as the master of the underground city, Jian could only release two primary spells that came with the system: Thunderbolt and Flame Snake.

And the reason he can disguise himself as a necromancer is precisely because of his female ghost guard. As long as these ghostly women are by his side, even if Zhan En says hes not a necromancer, probably no one would believe him anyway.

Actually, Zhan Ens disguise and arrival here is not just for show. A dungeon needs a lot of resources to develop. But Zhan En himself doesnt have many resources. If its mineral resources like ore and crystals, Zhan En can still get the goblins to dig them up. However, building materials and food can only be obtained through purchases and trades.

Especially wood, in the dark underground, wood is worth a thousand dollars. And many buildings in Jenns underground city need wood to be built - its not possible for Jenn to plant trees herself, let alone whether they can be planted successfully in a world without sunlight, and where to get the seedlings is a big problem.

If it were his brothers and sisters, they could have directly marched into the city and forced them to surrender. Unfortunately, Zhan En didnt have that much power, so in order for the underground city to develop smoothly, he had no choice but to take matters into his own hands.

Thats why Jenn chose to appear in Brandon Stone Castle as a death spirit mage, an identity that commands both respect and fear. He believes the dwarves will not ignore this time bomb, and if they dare send someone to find him, he can make demands of them, at which point hell be able to get what he wants without arousing anyones suspicion.

But in fact, it also proved that Zhan Ens idea was correct.

On the second morning after their arrival here, five gray dwarves in magnificent attire knocked on Jans guest room door.

  "Hello, venerable master."

The dwarf in the ornate half-plate armor with intricate flower patterns etched into it flashed a warm, almost overly enthusiastic smile at Jann.

"To be honest, its been a long time since weve seen a wizard in Brandon Stone Castle. They are the greatest and most powerful beings in this world, I think you should understand what kind of emotions we have when we know that a wizard has arrived. As the ruling officer, I represent all the people of Brandon Stone Castle here to extend our warmest greetings to you."

A dwarf named Kardrek, who was the governor of the city, rubbed his hands excitedly, looking more like a hotel owner welcoming guests than a ruler.

  "My name is Zhan En."

Still hiding his true identity under the hood, Zhan En nodded at the dwarf official in front of him as he sat on the chair.

"You dont have to be so tense, actually, I came to Brandons Rock City just to find a relatively quiet testing ground that wont be disturbed by those foolish underground demons. If you guys didnt come to bother me, then nothing would happen."

  "This..."

Upon hearing this, Kardels chubby cheeks also twitched involuntarily. A stone golem above, a lich wanting to conduct an experiment in his own city?

Carcadoc could almost predict the plague, ghouls and undead having a Halloween party in the city!

However, as one of the most cunning and sinister races in the underground world, Kardok would not be as foolish as his distant cousin, the dwarves. After hearing Jans words, he only showed a slight expression of panic, and then once again revealed a passionate smile to the extreme.

"This is just great! We never thought that a powerful wizard like you would come to our city. I can assure you, respected Wizard. Brandon Stone City welcomes your arrival, how about this? We will provide you with a free building for experimentation and guarantee that no one will disturb your experiments. However..."

Saying that, Kadek rubbed his hands together, lifted his head up, gave Zhan En a faint glance, and then lowered his head again.

"...If I may be so bold, Master, Id like to ask for your help in solving a small problem..."

At this point, Zhan En and Enoia exchanged a glance, both seeing the hidden smile in each others eyes.

As expected, the meat has arrived.
