Chapter 5: Kadeks Request

As Kadek spoke, Jann made no response. He simply sat there, silent and unmoving. The hood of his black cloak obscured his face, blocking out all view.

At this moment, Kardok was also trembling with fear. Doing business with a necromancer was no less dangerous than dealing with a lich. If the other party became unhappy, they could turn themselves into a mummy in the blink of an eye.

In fact, Kadek had already discovered that the girl standing behind Jain was not a living thing. From her somewhat unnatural iron-gray skin, it could be seen that she was absolutely dead and an undead creature of a higher level. To make such an undead creature willingly submit, it means that Jain, this necromancer, is probably not simple either.

As he watched Jann remain silent, Kardak also didnt know what he was thinking. Just as the dwarf official was about to explain further, he suddenly felt a chill on his shoulders, and then a female demon appeared out of thin air, pressing down on his body. At the same time, Janns low voice came drifting over.

"You mean... let me serve you alongside those despicable half-beast mercenaries and those stinking bear orcs?"

Zhan Ens voice was not loud, but it was filled with icy coldness and disdainful mockery. As if to match Zhan En, the female demon opened her jet-black mouth and let out a piercing scream that chilled people to their souls.

"No! No! No!! Of course not, sir!! We beg of you, this is our humble request!!"

In the face of death, Kadek finally couldnt hold on. Most importantly, Zhen said something to the point. Although his attitude was very respectful, Kadek indeed hoped to establish a dignified image in front of his subordinates, and if he could persuade Zhen to sacrifice himself for him, it would naturally be a great honor.

Unfortunately, Zain didnt buy into that, which made Kadek terrified and uneasy, especially when he felt the succubuss "tenderness" at close range. It was a memory that was absolutely not pleasant for any living being. It was as if you were standing on the edge of a cliff, staring at the shadow of death in the dark abyss.

Kadek for the first time realized that death was so close to him, just a fingers width away.

Not only him, but also his several subordinates were surrounded by other female demons that suddenly appeared out of thin air. Although Cardak still hoped they could remember their duties, now it seemed they might not be able to save themselves.

"Oh great, great sir! Honorable monk!! Please forgive us, we absolutely did not intentionally offend you!"

If at first, Carder had any doubts about Janns identity, he no longer had any extra thoughts now. This was indeed the city of the Grey Dwarves, and by all accounts, anyone who clashed with the Grey Dwarves here or killed their ruling official would not have a good outcome.

But the problem is, Zhan En was a necromancer.

He wouldnt mind the gray dwarves numerical superiority, for the more people there are, the more potential troops there are for a necromancer. Once war breaks out with the gray dwarves, Zhan En can use his necromancy to create large groups of undead creatures to fight.

Unfortunately, the dwarves were powerless against this. Their innate physical constitution made them resistant to most magic, but it also meant they had no way of learning magic themselves. In such a situation, dealing with necromancers was clearly very passive. Even if they could eventually eliminate the necromancer, they would pay a heavy price for doing so - which was something the dwarves absolutely did not want to see happen.

Kardek was also well aware of this point.

Although Brandon Stone City is known as the Pearl of the North, it is only one of the many underground cities and does not have any high-end military protection. This is also why Cardak wants to win over Jan. After all, if they can have a death spirit mage sit in formation, they will be more at ease.

But dealing with a Taoist is very dangerous, they are dangerous, reclusive and very mysterious.

The undead warlock is even more so.

"Please forgive our impertinence, we didnt mean to provoke you!! We truly are seeking your help!"

  Its almost done.

Looking at Caderek, who was drenched in sweat and pale as paper, Jainn fell silent for a moment, then waved his hand. The female demon quickly released the dwarf politician in front of her and floated backward.

Feeling Deaths departure, the Dwarf Lord let out a long sigh, his face an expression of being left alive after a disaster.

He finally understood why the worlds evaluation of necromancers was so poor.

However, its easy to get on a pirate ship but hard to get off. The gray dwarves who mixed with the underworld naturally understood this truth. Although Cardak was now deeply regretful in his heart, he still continued to speak with a stiff upper lip.

"Please, you must believe our sincerity. We can assure you that this is just a humble request. And we are willing to pay the sufficient price for it. You coming here to do experiments must need a lot of magic stones and materials, right? I guarantee that if you can help us get rid of this trouble, we..."

At this point, Kadek fell silent for a moment, and in the end, he chose his own life over interests.

"...we at Brandon Rock Castle can provide you with materials on this aspect for free......as long as we have them."

Of course, if possible, he still wants to keep some benefits.

  "Lets talk about it then."

Upon hearing this, Zhan En also broke his silence. His goal had been achieved, and the Grey Dwarves were a greedy race, although not to the extent of being willing to risk their lives for money, but it was close enough. Pressuring them too hard would not be good for either side, so after hearing Kadeks words, Zhan En also nodded his head and spoke up.

When he heard Zhan Ens answer, Kade suddenly revealed a surprised smile.

  "Alright, sir, actually..."

What Kardok said was actually quite simple. Just a short time ago, the dwarves were digging in the underground tunnels when they stumbled upon some ruins (at this point, Jainn was startled and thought that his own underground city had been discovered, but later found out that the directions were different, which made him breathe a sigh of relief). However, if it were just like this, then for the dwarves, it wouldnt be anything unusual.

The underground and the surface are different, you can never imagine how many historical relics exist here. Due to the uniqueness of the underground, any place may have ancient ruins or cities. There are all kinds of dangers here, but also all kinds of wealth.

To say the least, no matter where you are in the dark underground, as long as you keep walking along the crevices, if youre lucky enough not to die halfway, then sooner or later youll discover a building thats been sealed and buried in dust - it could be a relic, or it could be a tomb.

But whatever it is, it will bring you rich benefits and rewards.

The dwarves were naturally aware of this and sent a team of skilled slaves to investigate. Then the trouble started.

That group of slaves never returned, and the Grey Dwarves sent another elite troop, with even more disastrous results. A whole squad of brave Grey Dwarf soldiers in anti-magic armor was almost completely annihilated. Only one person escaped, and he was driven mad by fear, unable to say what had happened.

The dwarves also knew that something was wrong, so they sealed the tomb and continued to dig the mine. However, their excavation work did not go smoothly this time.

  The excavation team was ambushed.

Every dwarf who escaped said they couldnt quite put into words what they had encountered, but the excavation teams suffered heavy casualties. Several battle masters were even lost. Faced with this inexplicable threat, the dwarves also felt a headache, and they had sent adventurers to investigate more than once, but their fate was not much different from that of the dwarves.

There was only one bear geomancer who, after investigation, warned the gray dwarf that the ruin might be related to some kind of mysterious and ancient magical creature, which ordinary people could not deal with. The bear geomancer also did not have enough ability to explore the ruin, so this matter could only be temporarily put on hold.

For the dwarves, this was clearly not an easy decision to accept. Because that mine tunnel connected a huge silver ore vein, which had thick benefits for the dwarves. If they gave up like this, the dwarves would be heartbroken and sleepless.

It was precisely because of this that Cadrek hastened to come when he learned that a "powerful" "Necromancer" had entered Brandons Rock Castle, trying to recruit him for his own service.

But I didnt expect that the other party was obviously not something I could handle, and as a result, I lost everything, almost losing my own life.

  "Is that so..................."

After listening to the dwarfs narrative, Zhan En nodded. At the same time, he quickly thought about whether it was worth doing so in his mind. The dwarf would indeed prepare a generous reward for himself, but Zhan En could be sure that if he failed to complete the task, the dwarf would not give him any benefits at all. From what he could see now, this task was relatively difficult for underground creatures.

But thats only true for underground creatures... If Jenn didnt guess wrong, then he had already sensed the true identity of the so-called "ruins" from Kadeks narrative.

It seems that coming to Brandon Stone City this time is indeed not a mistake.

At this thought, a faint smile that was almost imperceptible flashed across Zhan Ens eyes, and then he reached out his hand to gently push up his glasses.

"Okay, Ill go take a look at the situation."

Then he spoke up and said.
