Chapter 98

  Chapter 98

I would have liked to collect my power and sort out my fighting force, but the Yuuzhan Vong were already on Coruscant doing their evil deeds. The New Republic army had cobbled their starships together from across the galaxy and were far from ready, but this wasn't a rinky-dink planet in the Outer Rim that the Yuuzhan Vong had captured; this was Coruscant. The prime planet of the core worlds, the planet where all the most important decisions were made and the core planet of the galaxy. The New Republic wouldn't stand for its loss, they would throw everything except themselves at regaining the world.

I hated the way those in power would find any way to fight as long as they were safe. They were weak and cunningly sycophantic in the way they would throw the poor at the problem they failed to fix and possibley made worse, and at the end, when the smoke thinned out and the war was lost or won, it would be the undisearvingly that would stay in power and reap the benifits without paying the price.

This was why I would work alone, I wouldn't have anyone order me around. No, jedi master General telling me how my resources should be spent, no Supreme chancellor ordering me into an shitty plan that would get people killed. It was my way or I would leave.

Padme had to calm a lot of people. She knew what I was capable of, but the New Republic didn't. A good amount of time had passed with the fall of the Empire, and newer, younger, inexperienced politicians had taken the vacant seats of the power gap of the Empire. They didn't have the generations of plotting and scheming that the old Republic had, but they did have the ego, and with that ego, they tried to control me. Padme put a stop to that almost immediately; she couldn't afford infighting, especially when I would rip the roots out and salt the earth to destroy them. They didn't understand what I would do to them if they pushed me too far; they were ignorant, and that made them brave.

Instead, it was better for everyone if I worked alone and the New Republic and Jedi would take advantage of what I was doing without getting in the way.

I was in position in one of my Stealth ships ready to attack. I had positioned my self in the Astriod belt as i wasn't postive that my Stealth was perfect, it had been many years since i was on one of my Stealth ships and the tecnolgy might be outdated. At the moment i was waiting for the Jedi and New Republic army to make its move.

I could have attacked, but I was uninformed. The world ship that the Yuuzhan Vong used to stage their attacks was reported to be on average 10km wide and house close to 10 thousand Yuuzhan Vong. This was nothing as the biggest spaceship that the Empire ever made was 15km long. The New Republic, through skill or luck, had already destroyed hundreds of world ships and reported the many different shapes that each one had taken, but this was different. Above Coruscant, looming over the planet, was a Yuuzhan Vong world ship the size of a moon that housed millions, possibly billions, of battle-crazy, fanatical, warrior-based, xenophobic force-resistant species who would love nothing more than to wipe us off the face of the galaxy.

I waited and watched. Padme was so kind as to give me recordings of the world ship at work. At first, it wasn't impressive. Slow and easy to hit was a weakness I wouldn't have stood for if it were my ship, but the Yuuzhan Vong made it work with a living world ship. Each powerful blast aimed by the New Republic was a sure-fire hit, but the world ship distributed the damage across the surface, leaving little damage that was visibly healed at great speed. The worldship was immune to laser fire and bombing runs, causing the surface to wobble like jelly and cause superficial burns.

If you discover this tale on Amazon, be aware that it has been unlawfully taken from Royal Road. Please report it.

It was a nice design, and I could only admire the Yuuzhan Vong bio-manipulation. Acording to the other interactions that resulted in many deaths worldships weren't just one design. This one was in the shape of a disk but others focused on speed, just like the jellyfish worldship that attacked the Grove.

That's when I got a message from Padme and her son, Luke. They were ready, which meant I would act.

I went in first, keeping contact with Padme and Luke. They had no idea what i was going to do because i only said i would work as a distraction. Padme didn't like that i was keeping secrets but i couldn't trust her, she was a slave to her emotions and my plan was risky, not to me but to Coruscant.

Reports of ships falling into place as the New Republic move into attack formation, I feel the worried emotions of their living crew and the buzz of the droids. I can even feel the Yuuzhan Vong movements through the force, even though they are cut from it. I can feel their movements because its like a stone falling through water, the ripples are still there.

My personal communicator buzzes, and Padme pops up. She looks stressed and annoyed "We are ready"

I shake my head and give my orders.

From the depths of the Astriod field, a cluster of ships breaks free and heads toward the Yuuzhan Vong worldship. There are no defences as they aren't worried, there are no intercepting ships as they are busy invading the many thousands of levels of Coruscant. Their confidence will be their downfall.

I get another communication from Padme. She is very unhappy, I'm starting to think that she is in a constant state of unhappiness.

"That won't work", Padme almost cries out of desperation.

Padme is referring to the fact that my ships are tugging a massive asteroid behind them. The New Republic has already bombed the surface of the worldship with enough energy and matter that would dwarf anything an asteroid could produce, and it didn't work.

My communication fizzs as the asteroid is released and my visual compount is interfered with. "Don't worry and get ready for a nice surprise", I answer back.

Everyone who is watching are holding their beaths hopeing that this will work but not truely believeing it will. The astroid is slow at first but when the gravitional pull of the Worldship takes over the giant lump of space rock rushes towords its target and slams in to the worldship only to cause the surface to wobble like a jelly getting hit by a spoon.

Padme's heart drops as the distraction has failed, and that means when they attack, more lives will be lost, and she will be responsible for it.

It's at the point of great loss of hope that the semi-intact asteroid splits apart, and a megatitan-sized worm slug bursts out and burrows into the worldship. How do you hurt a living bio weapon that is immune to most forms of attack? You make it sick with poison or an Exogorth parasite.

I made a deal with the young sentient Exogorth slug to help it with the balance of an entire ecosystem in its body. We had a working relationship as I had been taking genetic material from the slug for many years to study and incorporate it. It was a young one at close to five hundred million years old, and wanted nothing more than for a stable ecosystem to form inside it. I promised to help, and that was how I managed to make a deal for an Exogorth to become a division for the New Republic.

Padme image was shocked as she witnessed it through the shaking and fizzing of my communication, but her surprise didn't end there as the great Exogorth opened it maw and spewed out thosands of dopplegangers as well as me.

Usually, I wouldn't try to crash into something moon-sized, as it was a near likelihood of death, but Exogorths were different. You had to be made of sturdy stuff when you lived for billions of years in a home of constant giant asteroids crashing into each other, in an environment that was death to almost everything it came into contact with. Stallerwind that would rip and tear anything else was a nice summer breeze to the Exogorth, huge amounts of unfiltered radiation, a light snack to the giant slug, millions of tons of space rock smashing into your skin, just a smooth massage to the formidable Exogorth.

The distraction was a plan old invasion force, internally made of me, my dopplegangers and one Exogorth. The worldship was now infested with a stubborn force user and a very slight case of worms.
