Chapter 1 : Wang Yong

"Hey, check it out." A random kid in the street made a weak gust of wind that happened to lift her female friend's skirt.

"AHH, hey, don't be a pervert."

"Sorry, my bad, wasn't my intention, but your favorite color is pink, huh?" That boy then proceeded to run away.

"Hey, get back here!!!!" The girl chases him while summoning a stone out of her hand, trying to throw the stone at his friend.

This kind of scene is common, but people with power are even more common. Essentially, this is the norm in the society, and most of them are living in a country called Arkbaiki.

But unfortunately, most of them only possess weak power, and the ones that possess strong power are usually regarded as a hero, and join the government as important people.

The government in Arkbaiki also formed a group called Arkbaiki Central Police (ACP). Essentially, it is a group of police or an army whose main aim is to protect the people of Arkbaiki and enforce justice. Essentially, they are Arkbaiki security.

And since their job can be seen by the people, they are being idolized.

"Hey, look at this video." A girl gathered some of her friends while showing them a video. "Lisa saved the day again. She can single-handedly stop the whole tsunami with just her ice power. She is by far the strongest, in my opinion."

"Huh, you sure? You haven't seen their leader, Aiman. He saved my family when we were being held hostage by some gangsters. He even managed to make an invisible shield that can contain them."

"Yeah, of course I know. Who doesn't know him? His statue was just placed on the plaza.

"Oh, I wish I had him as my husband. He is so hugeee, charismatic, and tall. I bet he is big down there."

"Careful now, horny girl. He is mine."

  "No, he is mine."

Meanwhile, in the vicinity, some boy also discusses their favorite hero. Once again, Lisa was mentioned.

"You should see her chest, man. I happened to meet her a while ago in the street. Her bouncy chest is f*cking hugeee."

"Holy sh*t. You are so lucky. Man, I wish I was in her uniform. I totally want to jerk off right after this."

"Hey, speaking of which, I happen to have the sauce. Fanfic about Lisa has been circulating from the internet."

"Really???? Share it with me now."

"Relax, man. You can jerk off later."

"Oh, don't be such a boomer, man. I promise I will do it privately. You think I want to jerk off while you guys are around me?"

Laughter can be heard everywhere. Also, in another vicinity, there is this one guy who looks like a beggar. Well, he was almost a beggar.

His name is Wang Yong, and he age 14, he had long admired these heroes, because they are famous, and become the talk of the town. Needless to say, he was inspired to become one of them. Therefore, he decided that one day, he would become a hero, just like them.

"Someday," Wang Yong imagined, "there will be a huge statue of me in the town square. It will be made of shiny metal, and I'll stand proud and strong with my hands on my hips." He imagined people in the town would cheer and continue to talk to him like he was the great Alexander.

"Wang Yong is awesome. I hope I will be just like him!"

"He looked right at me!" "No, he looked my way first!"

He imagined it, which made him have a dumb smile on his face.

"I will become his wife, just you watch." He also imagines some pretty girl will shout this thing about him.

His dumb smile is noticed by some people, who look at him like he is some sort of crazy beggar and ignore him like dirt. But he doesn't care about it.

The problem is Wang Yong's doesn't have any power. He didn't know why. In addition, his life was terrible to begin with. As I mentioned, he was a beggar. His dad left him before he was even born, so Wang Yong never knew who his father was. Possibly because his mother was a prostitute who worked in a brothel.

Wang lived with his mom and older brother, Wang Liang, in a small, messy home in a district called the Lotus District. It was a poor district to begin with. Full of people, more trash along the way, broken roads here and there, and the government doesn't seem to care a lot about the street. In addition, it is where crime usually happens. Theft, extortion, and small crimes happen here. Several bodies appear to have been murdered by some gang, but no one cares to even look at them.

Wang Yong's apartment room was small and messy. Crack walls everywhere, leak pipe that came from the roof, constant sh*t smells. Also, the only furniture in there was a kitchen with minimal utensils, a table, a chair, and cardboard for sleeping, with only one cushion in there.

Every day, her mom, who was in her mid-thirties, looked old and messy, with makeup still on, always showing up in the apartment's room with a tired look and slumped body. So it looks like she was even tired with body and mind, not because she was f*cking a lot of men out there but because nobody would even look at a woman in their mid-thirties, especially when her face seems like an old lady. Needless to say, she didn't earn enough money, and she felt useless.

"I'm home," she'd say in a low voice. She didn't have the energy to speak any louder. By far, she was the most pitiful in the room.

So being dutiful as he was, Wang Yong tried his best to make his mom happy. He cleaned, did chores, and even worked around the street to earn money. But no matter how hard he tried, his mom would get mad at him for small things.

"Why can't you be more helpful?" She shouted to Wang Yong, even if he just got in her way by accident.

But when his brother, Wang Liang was in the picture, her mood suddenly changed.

"Liang'er, are you hungry?? I brought a special roast pork just for you."

Wang Yong's mom had a clear favorite in the family, and that was his older brother, Wang Liang. It was because Wang Liang had a Power, while Wang Yong had no Power.

Wang Liang's power is a water Power that allowed him to conjure water balls from his hand.

"Oh, Liang'er, you're so talented! Your Power is going to take you further!"

"Liang'er, you must be hungry after using your Power. Let me get you some more food."

  Wang Yong's stomach grumbled.

  "Mom, I am hungry…"

His mom, looking at Wang Yong, said, "You got only a leftover. Go on, shoo shoo" She shoo Wang Yong away.

It wasn't fair, but Wang Yong tried not to let it bother him. He would just smile and say, "That's okay, Mom, I'm not hungry anymore." His stomach is still rumbling even when he says that.

Wang Liang noticed that, and laughed.

"You are weak. An insignificant person such as you is not fit for the feast of the king, such as I. Do you think I should share my food with the peasant who DOESN'T even have the power, to begin with? Go away, useless fool. And oh, btw, remember to give me money. You didn't give me last week's money.

That, my friend, is what we call classic family extortion.

Also, his mother defended Wang Liang, while continued

"Oh yes. This month's electrical fee is around 50 asro. You know I don't have money because I have to buy you food, despite my busy time. You should be grateful and give me some money!!!"

Wang Yong, feeling gloomy, just stood up and walked away from their home. He can hear some mock laughs from his mother and Wang Liang behind Wang Yong's back.

"If only I had a Power…" he thought to himself. He then proceeded to walk off.

He then went outside, walking alone while feeling sad, until he bumped into a girl.

"Yo, dumb*ss, what's up? Watch where you going, by the way."

Wang Yong looked at the girl. It was his best friend and his long-time crush, Shi Ying. She was the same age as Wang Yong.

“Ewww, do you ever brush your hair, by the way? It is so messy,” Shi Ying teased, flicking one of her long, curly locks over her shoulder. Her hair bounced as she walked beside him.

Wang Yong rolled his eyes. “I don't see the point. Besides, not everyone has time to look fashionable just like you, A Ying.”

“I know, right?” She laughed and adjusted her bright jacket. “I was born to be a fashionista. Too bad my job is stealing some sh*t.”

Wang Yong smirked. “How many hours have you spent on your hair?”

Shi Ying blew out a puff of strawberry-scented vapor in Wang Yong’s face, making him cough a little from the sweet smell.

She grinned. “Long enough for you to realize I have what we called a confidence. You should try it sometime. I mean, look at you, just buy some nice clothes for once. Geez.”

Wang Yong shook his head. “I don’t have money to buy the jacket and ripped jeans that you are wearing.”

Shi Ying gave him a curious look. "I thought I gave you more money yesterday to buy some clothes. Where is that money, huh?”

Wang Yong gave a sad look. Shi Ying took an easy guess.

  "Your brother took it?"

“Yeah, He said the youngest should respect and provide whatever the oldest needs.”

Shi Ying looked at Wang Yong with wide eyes. “OH MY F*CKING GOD, Idiot! I didn’t teach you to be this dumb, dumbass. Is that why he has money for stylish clothes?”

Wang Yong nodded. “Yeah, he threatened me using his Power.”

Shi Ying rolled her eyes, feeling frustrated.

“Oh, man. Let me teach you how to get back at him. You just need the courage to do it. Just f*cking watch.”

She taught Wang Yong everything she knew about surviving in the streets, including stealing, scamming, and anything that seemed illegal. Together, they became a team, and every day, they grabbed food, coins, and shiny rings from many civilians quietly and fast.

Whenever they divide the reward, Shi Ying will sell them to the potential client, she also made sure Wang Yong always got a fair share.

And today, they spotted a man carrying a suitcase.

“Alright, dumb*ss,” Shi Ying whispered. She pointed toward a man walking nearby, carrying a suitcase. “See that guy? That’s our target for today.”

Wang Yong followed her gaze. “The guy with the suitcase?”

“Yeah, I got a client that wants us to steal that suitcase. They paid a lot of money on it.”

Wang Yong frowned. “Yeah, I can see it since he’s holding onto it pretty tight. But what if he notices?”

Shi Ying rolled her eyes. “C'mon. Don't be such a loser. You sound like we don’t know each other."

Wang Yong smiled. “Yeah, girl, listen. I just want to strike up a conversation with you.”

Shi Ying realized Wang Yong's intention and gave him a playful shove. “Yeah, we can have a lot of conversation after this stunt. Come on, don’t mess up.”

Wang Yong then moved and slowly approached the guy with the suitcase from behind. “Slowly, easy.” he was trying to calm himself because he still wasn’t used to situations like this. But for Shi Ying, he was willing to do that.

So he approached that man and tiptoed carefully, making no sound with his steps. Just as he reached out to touch the suitcase, the man suddenly noticed something, and Wang Yong froze.

  “Oh crap,” he muttered.
