Chapter Seventeen; Part II: Rematch

The days ran, I trained. Lonely midst of the far fields of the academy, I was just fluctuating my energy, as the grass was waving in tact, like little people cheering and rain starts pouring from the overshadowing cloud, falling in rhythm. I could clearly feel, one by one, the little triplets falling on my skin, even though hundreds of them fall per second, I had no problem counting them. My senses were sharper then ever, even the fresh breeze I could feel tingling my skin. As I concentrated more on the raindrops falling on the squashy dirt, topped with its smooth grass, I could feel them. No, even more I could see them and grasp them with my mind.

My clothes were drained in water, my hair a mess and puddles were filling around me. For over some hours, I trained now, and finally made a breakthrough, I unlocked the ability to see with my eyes closed, only with my senses and the energy around me I could see. Even trough walls, I could see detailed objects.

Even more so, I got the idea that I could try to manipulate the energy with mine. I came up with some ideas. The first would be to control it, like telekinesis; the next is to suck away the energy, this could help to rapidly recover lost energy, to ‘steal’ energy and even expand mine; lastly I thought of adding my energy to create something akin to an explosion or even an effect close to a black hole.

Trying for a few more hours proved pointless, I couldn’t realize it. All attempts failed, only once I managed to slightly deflect a droplet, but it could have bin the wind too.

Next morning I woke up to a beautiful sight, the sun was sizzling, birds were chirping and the trees were shaking their leaves to the wind. As I stood up, I sneezed, and again and again. Yesterday, I must have got a cold. I was really annoyed, as tomorrow the semifinals were scheduled and it would definitely be a handicap for me.

Today I intended to skip classes to prepare on my great match, but I didn’t, thanks to my cold—Training would just make it worse. The lesson about magic was nearly full as I entered, so I needed to sit down in the front. The teacher explained to us, the types of magic as well as the concepts. For once there is magic, which is energy released outside the body. Then there is body enhancement, describing the strengthening due to energy circling in once body. And that’s it, which wondered me, as it contradicted my ideas, but I kept my mouth shut. Because it could come over as dumbness or disrespect.

Thereafter we had some other boring stuff, where I just lazed around and even was from time to time woken up by a teacher. In retrospect I was evolving towards, how Nian had been in school, even my marks were getting worse. Bothering me only little, as I was still good in theory, but godlike in fighting. Even though most don’t have a clue about O.V.O. and my position there, I was well known to be the best. Later the day, we trained outdoors, sadly I couldn’t do much and therefore decided to coach some friends. Shortly after the lessons ended I went to bed.

The next day passed slowly, in the same manner as the last and today was finally my time to shine in the next fight. Which will be hard, as my cold had gotten worse, causing my strength to be significantly reduced. Still I made my path through the dark forest, straight towards the lights of the arena, just like a fly.

Arriving there, a bit late, the matches were already drawn. I was up against the formerly second ranked, he was just a small prey, for my growth. He already had been nearly defeated by me once, but now the situation changed—I have a cold, but also an efficient way to counter his shield.

The coin is flipped in the air, falling in slow motion, making its way to the ground per gravity. As it almost reached it, I felt a feeling in my nose, first a tickle, then a tingling and a huge sneeze burst out of my nose, matching the sound of a fist embedding in my side and boosting me into the arena wall. Followed up by a hook and some kicks, I already reached a bad state, before catching his foot, spinning him and smashing him to the opposite side. I stood up, grasped for air and steadied myself for the next exchange, after a short bloodshedding sneeze.

I took the lead and run towards my opponent, with unfathomable agility, he could barely dodge my kick and block my following hook with his energy shield. I destroyed it instantly with my wave attack, surprising him and beat him to the ground with a brutal combo. Only stopped by a sneeze, painting my opponent in my blood. He used the little time to escape and bring some distance.

The fight was continued, with some more little exchanges, only exhausting us both. Until I had an idea. I knew my opponent wouldn’t wait a second to beat me, when I needed to sneeze. So I acted as if I would do so, he saw the opportunity and came at me defenceless. With just some well targeted kicks and pushes, I made him go knock out.

I smiled as I stood proud above, only to then collapse, from exhaustion. The healer station nursed me up to health and even my sickness got better, before I could leave the next morning to my warm bed. I slept through the midday until late the day, luckily it was no school and I didn’t miss anything important.

The final round against the best of the best in this university, is gonna be in a week, so I need to train a lot and recover properly. And so sunk into deep meditation, to try to realize my ideas and get stronger.
