Ep. 1337 To-Do List Part 10

As I am eating my second helping, Sarah and I continue chatting and we discuss the city. Sarah has a lot of ideas that she wants to try out and I am fine with her doing so. In fact, I tell her in no uncertain terms that she can do whatever she wants with the city.

Sarah says “What do you mean, whatever I want?”

“I mean exactly that. I am not going to be watching over your shoulder or checking in on your progress. The city is yours. I will only step in if there is a problem you can’t solve or the city is falling apart. I have too much to do to worry about each city individually.”

Sarah says “Thank you for your trust, I guess?”

“Sarah, I trust you with my kids and they are far more important to me than a city. Besides, I know you are intelligent enough not to make any major mistakes.”

  Sarah says “Thank you.”

Then she gets up, gives me a smile, and then gives me a huge hug before sitting back down. We then continue talking about her plans for the city so that she can get my opinion on some things. A lot of the things that she wants to do will be a lot easier once she has access to the system.

However, I don’t tell her about it since I am not entirely sure that it is going to work. For now, I just give her some advice, mainly based on playing city builder games. Unfortunately, that is something that Sarah never did in our world, but it isn’t too bad since the city is mostly built already.

All she really needs to do is tell Mason her plans and what she wants for the city. Then she can just leave it to him to figure out how to do it, plan it out, and then build it for her. That is probably the best advice that I can give her, to find trustworthy people and delegate tasks to them.

That is how I plan to run my kingdom, mainly because I doubt my ability to run it any other way. It isn’t like Sarah can argue against my point since I am delegating ruling this city to her. However, I hope that she doesn’t follow my example too closely since I am doing it to avoid responsibility.

Once we are done chatting I head back to the castle, but I am still feeling rather worn out. So, instead of trying to make myself work, I decide to take a bath and read some manga. It has been a while and reading manga does a lot to help me relax and let my batteries recharge.

The only problem is that once I start reading, I can’t make myself stop even after I am feeling better. Thanks to that, my break ends up lasting a lot longer than I had planned, but I don’t regret it. I enjoy reading manga way too much and with the time dilation I haven't really wasted too much time.

When I finish the manga, I finally get out of the bath and head back to my workshop. In order to clear out some of the mess, I start enchanting the weapons and armor that I have already finished. Once they are enchanted, I put them into my ring with the ones that are already complete.

However, as I am enchanting the weapons I notice that I am lacking ranged weapons. Once I have used up all of the alloy I will need to see about making some bows and crossbows. I should also probably make some leather armor as well, that way there are sets for all types of warriors.

Luckily, I have plenty of demonic beast hide to use, so I won’t need to go looking for materials. However, that does mean that I am going to be spending quite a bit more time crafting. Then again, I am nowhere near finishing the plans for the enchantments of the capital.

There are also other things that I need to do, I can’t just spend all of my time crafting. So, once all the finished items are enchanted, I take a break to get some food. The kids aren’t around when I head upstairs and when I ask, Jarvis tells me they left with Sarah.

She certainly didn’t waste any time if she already arranged for all of the crafters. Then again, she probably already knew exactly who she was going to ask before I even left. If the kids give each craft a proper chance that is going to keep them busy for a couple of days at least.

That’s good since I need to leave for a bit and take care of some things. Once I am done eating I gate to the tower and head for the library. With Yui’s help I look up the spells that Lin mentioned and start studying them. They contain what I should need to complete the two new detection spells.

There is no one else in the library when I arrive, but Yui has already gotten me the books I need. I chat with her as I am looking up and copying the parts of the spells that I need. I fill her in on everything that has happened recently and the current plans that I am working on.

I am not sure what information she has access to, so I just tell her everything that I can think of. Thanks to Divided Mind, doing so doesn’t keep me from working on the two new spells. In fact, Yui is able to give me some advice on how to structure the new spells.

The detection spell to help look for the drugs is easy enough, it is simpler than the demon detection spell. After that, converting it to an enchantment is even easier for me to do. However, I don’t think about making a detector yet, I will have Lin look it over before I do that.

The spell to search for people is a lot more complicated because it is looking for intangible things. For the spell to be able to find someone's potential and if they will be loyal is not a simple concept. The wish spell that I am taking pieces from is the most complex and convoluted spell I have ever seen.

Even having the spell sitting in front of me, I am not sure if I would actually be able to cast it. Luckily, that is not what I am trying to do, but even figuring out which pieces I need takes a while. The time passes fairly quickly since I have a lot of things to talk with Yui about.

Even with Yui helping out, the spell that I end up with is pretty bad, even to my eyes. While nowhere near as bad as the wish spell, I am not even sure if it is going to work. At this point, my only hope is that Lin is going to be able to make a lot of improvements to it.

Once Yui and I have done everything we can to it, I put the two spells away and head back to the trade city. Then I track down Bella to see if she is ready to go visit the southern empire with me. Once I find her, Bella quickly packs up her things, sets some tasks for her apprentices, and then we gate to the southern empire’s capital.
