Just as soon as the souls are dead, I am back in the air and flying away. I can't risk what might show up to investigate since it might be Holos himself. If he is out looking for the killer of his lieutenant, it would only make sense for him to come.
From now on, I am not going to stay in one spot for any longer than necessary. That is the only way I can think of to make sure Holos can't catch up to me. Of course, I am assuming that he can't just teleport around since he hasn't done it yet.
So, I continue roaming around above the forest, I still haven't found anywhere different. I am starting to think that the entire domain, other than the city, is just one huge forest. That shows a lack of imagination, which is a good thing in an enemy, but still annoying.
Flying around like this with nothing changing is really boring and I am starting to think about leaving. Right as I am starting to think that I really won't find anything, I spot another group. This group is more human souls and they are being led by a couple of angels.
They are walking with weapons out and are looking around constantly. It seems that this group at least has heard that there is someone going around killing. Not wanting to disappoint them, I fly down and attack, targeting the angels first.
The two angels are only two-wings, so they don't put up much of a fight. However, apparently they were only the bait, because a lot more angels and humans appear. They had somehow been hiding in the forest nearby, but I am not too worried.
The only thing that worries me is that if this fight takes too long, Holos might show up. Just in case, I cut out and grab the cores of the angels I just killed. If I do have to run away, I don't want to leave anything useful behind.
Doing so gets me hit a few times by the human souls, but they can't even wound me. Once I have the cores, I cut down the souls attacking me and then head towards the angels. Surprisingly, they are all two-wings, I don't see a single angel stronger than that.
There should be at least one four-wing to act as the commander, but I can't see one. Then again, I couldn't see the ambushers either, they might be using invisibility to hide. However, right now there isn't much I can do about it unless they come out to fight.
Anything that I try to do right now to detect them would also act as a beacon for anyone hunting me. My best bet is going to be to kill the rest of these angels quickly and get out of here. So that is what I do, making sure to grab the core after each time I kill an angel.
When I kill the last visible angel I turn my attention to the human souls. As I am killing them, I keep expecting another wave of angels or something, but it doesn't happen. If there is a commander, he just watches as I slaughter the last of the human souls.

Well, they may be low rank, but I'm pretty sure that the goddesses will appreciate almost thirty cores. That's not even counting the cores I already have that I probably won't need. It might even be enough to get Seronia to stop being mad at me and Krenocia.
Especially since me coming back alive will prove that she was worried for nothing. Although, I highly doubt that I will ever get her to admit that it wasn't an insane plan. Myria and Lin will probably be on her side, so it is better to just avoid that argument.
Since the fight is over and no one else has appeared, I take off and leave the area. As soon as the area is no longer within sight, I change directions and head towards the city. Or at least where I think the city is supposed to be, I'm a little turned around at this point.
Of course, even if I end up completely lost in here, I will never admit it to anyone. That would just be asking to be called some more names, which I don't need. I will probably end up being called names anyway, but at least it shows that they care.
Now I have a decision to make, I have achieved all of my goals, so do I stay or leave? The safe answer would be to leave, but when do I ever take the safe path? So far, I haven't even been hurt and as long as I don't run into Holos I am pretty safe.
While I have achieved my goals, more cores would definitely benefit the goddesses. Who knows, if I get enough for them then maybe they will get stronger, which would benefit me. Although, it will probably take a while before the new angels show an effect.
Since most of the cores are from two-wings, the newly created angels will be wingless. I doubt that wingless angels will do any good for the pantheon until the progress. I also have no idea how long it takes for an angel to progress, or what they have to do to do so.
These are all questions that I will have to remember to ask once I am out of here. I especially want to learn how angels progress so I can make plans to help mine. Mine will be starting as a four-wing, but that won't be enough for it to be useful.
I want mine to be at least six-winged, if not eight-winged, by the time I have to face the demon lords. Otherwise, it will be pointless to even have it with me, it will just die in one hit. Thinking of that, I should probably also ask about what happens if an angel dies but its core isn't taken.
I am guessing that there is a way to bring them back as long as the core isn't lost. Also, I wonder if resurrection would work on an angel, something else I should ask. Basically, I guess I just need to ask for the full information about angels and how they grow.
For now, I have decided to stay here at least a little longer and see what else I can get. After all, I highly doubt that I will ever get another opportunity like this. At least, not without starting a war with another pantheon, which would get me into trouble.
I continue flying above the strange forest, looking for more souls or angels. However, what I find next is actually something different from the forest. In the distance ahead of me I can see a single mountain rising out of the forest.
