"Well, whatever the reason may be, it is a good thing for us. Thank you for letting me know."
Mythica says "You are welcome. Now, if you will excuse me, I have other duties to attend to."
Mythica disappears and I feel like I have dodged a bullet, at least for now. My first thought is to run away before she can come back, but I stop myself. If anyone noticed that I left immediately, it might look a little suspicious.
Besides, even if she goes straight to Holos' domain, it will take some time for her to investigate. I should have plenty of time to finish hunting demonic beasts and it will look less suspicious that way. However, I am going to have to move to another area, Mythica scared away all the nearby beasts with her aura.
Not that I can blame them for being scared of her since she also scares me. So I take to the air and fly farther west, looking for demonic beasts to hunt. Once I find a decent number of groups, I dive down and start killing them.
I have no idea how many cores my angel is going to need, but I am guessing it will be a lot. Demonic beasts are at the bottom of the totem pole, so their cores won't contain much energy. Now if I could find some demons to hunt, that would be a different story.
However, so far I haven't seen a single demon, they probably don't care if their beasts get slaughtered. The beasts are just cannon fodder, they are easily replaced, especially if there is another gate. So I don't really expect any demons to come and try to find out what is going on.
Now, if the empire was expanding its borders, that would be a different story. That is something that the demons would be very unlikely to ignore. However, I am not about to ask Emperor Amn to endanger his troops just to help me hunt demons.
If I go deep enough into their territory I will probably find or attract some. In fact, now that I think about it, I shouldn't be too far away from the castle of one of the demon lords. It was one of the two I helped to set up, I think his name was Dra or something.
I am sure that the other demon lords looted his castle already, but I am still curious about it. Besides, they may have stationed guards there or be using it for some purpose. So, it might be worth checking out, the problem is that I don't know the exact location.
All I remember is that his territory faced the southern empire and his castle was near the middle of his territory. I think I will go and see if I can find it after I am done with these beasts. A single demon core should be worth dozens of beast cores, if not more.

So, even if I only find a single demon, it should be worth the extra effort. Besides, demons are a lot harder to replace so I might draw some attention to myself. If the demon cores want to deliver themselves to me, I am certainly not going to complain.
As long as the demon lords don't show up, I should be able to handle just about anything else. Of course, knowing my luck I am going to stumble upon a meeting between the five of them. Although, I wonder how they are reacting to their new ally suddenly disappearing?
They are probably suspecting that it was all some sort of trap, they are demons after all. Hopefully, they will suspect each other and it will cause their alliance to fall apart. However, I very much doubt that my luck is that good, more likely it will make the alliance stronger.
Holos probably wasn't much of an ally to begin with, I doubt that they trusted him. More likely, they were just planning on using him and he was doing the same with them. I just hope that his sudden disappearance doesn't push them to do anything rash.
What I really want to know is how they got into an alliance in the first place. I can't imagine them meeting, so it was probably done through subordinates. If I knew how they communicated, then I could maybe do something about the situation.
As things stand, I have no way of doing anything or even knowing what is going on. It is really frustrating, but there is nothing that I can do about it at this time. In the end, I just take out all the frustration that I feel on the poor demonic beasts.
Sadly, as fun as it is, I still find myself eventually getting tired of all the killing. There are a lot more beasts who run over and join in the fight this time. It takes me a couple of hours to finally finish killing all of them and by then I am exhausted.
5,186 Demonic Beasts defeated! 1,612,450 Exp gained!
With the last of the demonic beasts finally dead, I sit down and let myself rest for a few minutes. At this point I even take out the cleaning stone to get the blood and filth off of me. After resting for a bit, I get up and start the long process of dealing with the bodies.
One thing is for sure, after this I won't run out of beast materials anytime soon. I just need to figure out what I am going to use all of them for. Not many of the materials from demonic beasts are all that useful, so I have only been collecting the best of them.
Even so, with how many I have killed, I have collected a huge amount of materials. About the only thing that I can think of to use this many materials for is gear. Weapons and armor for the soldiers, but specifically anti-demon ones.
The war shouldn't be starting too soon, but conflicts on the land bridge are likely. In fact, if possible I want to keep all of the fighting confined to the land bridge. It will make it much easier if my troops don't have to worry about protecting civilians.
In fact, I want to get people onto the land bridge and have them start building fortifications. Defensive positions will give my troops a much better survival chance. Fighting defensively should help to balance out the fact that they will outnumber us.
When I am finally done with all the corpses, I start looking around for a cave. After all that fighting, I want to make camp and get some real rest. While I could gate back to the tower, I know that I would end up getting distracted.
If that happens, then I probably won't be able to come back, at least not anytime soon. I plan to camp here for the night and then go looking for the castle in the morning. After I have explored the castle I will head back to the tower to see Lin.
