Ep. 1262 Aftermath Part 2

If the demons do have massive amounts of beasts, it will increase our casualties by a lot. I am not crazy enough to think I can prevent all the casualties, but I want to reduce them as much as I can. However, it is still too early to be thinking too much about that, I still have a ton to do.

For now, I lose myself in the excitement of battle and slaughtering my enemies. I dash from group to group as fast as I can, it helps that they come to me as well. The packs of beasts are attracted by the noise and the smell of blood, so I rarely have to stop.

To be honest, I don't want to stop, I only stop when I finally run out of beasts. The only reason I don't rush off to find more is that there are a lot of bodies behind me. I go back and start cutting them open, looking for cores or materials that might be useful.

1,631 Demonic Beasts defeated! 527,668 Exp gained!

As usual, looking for cores takes far longer than killing all of the beasts did. Not to mention that it is nowhere near as fun and I wouldn't even bother if it wasn't for the angel. Out of all those beasts I only find a couple of hundred cores, but that is to be expected.

If strong beasts were more common the empire would be in serious trouble. Normally, that would make it hard to farm cores, but I can go deeper into the demon lands. At least, I am hoping to find more strong beasts when I head deeper in.

Before that, once I am done harvesting, I sit down to eat some food and drink some water. Once I feel refreshed I get moving, but I don't bother to clean myself. The blood will attract beasts and I am just going to get covered in more anyway.

As soon as I see another group, I head down and begin another slaughter. The nearby groups are all drawn over so I end up in another long fight. Some of the beasts manage to wound me, but I don't really feel any pain.

Luckily, my strength is high enough that even if they pile onto me, they can't pin me down. In fact, throwing a huge pile of beasts off of me makes me feel like the Hulk. It is a great feeling and it makes the fight even more fun, for me anyway.

The beasts obviously aren't having any fun, but they are only here to die anyway. However, my fun is soon brought to a stop as my medallion goes off, Lin is calling. I don't stop killing the beasts, but explaining things to Lin takes all the fun out of it.

It is a good thing that the medallion works off of thoughts, otherwise Lin would hear the fighting in the background. It isn't that she would mind me killing beasts, but she would mind me not giving her lecture my full attention.

As expected, she is not mad about my actions, she is mad that I didn't consult her first. Well, she is probably a little mad about my recklessness, but she doesn't say anything about it. By now she knows I have good arguments for what I do, but not for lack of communication.

All I can really do is let her vent and then apologize for not talking to her sooner. Although, in my defense, I did tell Myria the first time, but that isn't much of an argument. For once, I wisely keep my mouth shut and just let her yell at me as I kill beasts.

It turns out that killing beasts is a good release for the frustration of being yelled at. In fact, I might just have to come to the demon lands whenever I am in trouble. Although, with how much I get myself into trouble, there might not be enough beasts in the demon lands.

Luckily, once I promise to visit the tower next, Lin lets me off the hook. After that, we continue chatting for a while, but it is about more pleasant subjects. It is a lucky thing for me because not long after that I run out of beasts again.

852 Demonic Beasts defeated! 691,722 Exp gained!

Having Lin chatting with me certainly makes the harvesting process go by faster. We don't chat for much longer, after all we will be seeing each other soon. Once we are done chatting, I finish up the pile of beasts and start looking for more.

However, before I can find another group of beasts to kill, a white pillar appears. Considering the fact that it appears directly in front of me, there is no doubt I am in trouble. Since I am outside the empire's borders, I can think of only one angel that would be looking for me.

Mythica takes longer to appear than a normal angel does, so I sit down to wait. The idea of running away crosses my mind, but that would only make things worse. Right now, she at most has some suspicions, running would just confirm them.

The fact that she tracked me down does worry me, but I am not going to panic. Even if she knows what I did, she still can't really do anything to me. Being an ally of the empire gives me a certain amount of protection, I think.

Mythica appears and says "King Ash."

"Hello, Mythica. I really didn't expect to see you again so soon."

Mythica looks around and says "What are you doing here?"

"Just hunting some demonic beasts. I need their cores."

Mythica says "You are a king, don't you have people to do that for you? Or can't you just buy the cores?"

"I could, but this way is more fun. Is that what you came down to ask me?"

Mythica says "No, I was just curious. I came to tell you about Holos. He went crazy during the trial and has been found guilty and has been imprisoned. He shouldn't cause you any more problems."

"That's good news! Does that mean his followers will lose their divine powers? Will his angels still be able to descend?"

Mythica says "Correct, his followers will become powerless. His angels will be stuck in his domain, but any that are already here will remain here. I will be leaving to deal with his angels shortly."

"Well, that certainly makes things easier. Any idea why he went crazy?"

Mythica says "Not really. He just started screaming about his avatar and tried to rush out of the meeting. The other members of the pantheon did not take it well. Honestly, they were already mostly convinced, that was just the last straw."

"That is a relief! Honestly, I was worried that he was going to manage to talk his way out of things and then launch an even bigger attack on my people."

Mythica says "I was also somewhat worried about that, but Holos was nowhere near convincing anyone of his innocence. It was almost like he was distracted the entire time he was talking."
