Ep. 1313 Preparing for a Trip Part 12

Annya says “So am I! Without that, I never would have met my husband!”

“I am really glad that the two of you met each other and can make each other happy.”

Annya says “I am glad that you met Lin and that she makes you happy, I like her. I am also glad that you finally accepted Myria’s feelings for you! It is good to see her so happy!”

“I am doing the best I can to make them both happy, but I don’t feel like I am succeeding most of the time.”

Annya says “I don’t know Lin well, but when I saw her she looked to be happy and I know for a fact that Myria is happy.”

“I hope they are and I hope that I can keep them that way. There are just so many things that I need to do that it doesn’t leave me much time to spend with them.”

Annya says “Maybe so, but they know and understand that. I think that you are worrying too much.”

“You are probably right. That is one of the issues that I have. I have been trying to work on it, but it isn’t easy. Anyway, getting back on topic, are there any other issues that either of you can think of?”

Pol says “When you visit the emperor of the southern empire, take one of our coins with you and give it to him. They need to know our currency to prevent anyone from using counterfeit coins. He should give you an example of their coins as well.”

“Alright, I will do that. That is something that I never would have thought about.”

Pol says “That’s not surprising. It is something that only merchants really worry about.”

“Actually, I don’t even know what currency we are using?”

Pol says “The beastmen don’t have their own currency, nor the ability to mint coins. We currently are using Illium’s currency. The kingdom and the Free Union also use their coins. Only the empire has their own currency, but it is the same weight so it doesn’t make much difference.”

  “Okay, good to know.”

Pol says “Should I make plans to build a mint?”

“No, don’t bother. I am not vain enough to need a coin with my face on it. We will continue using Illium’s coins.”

Pol says “Understood. That is all of the issues that I can think of.”

Annya says “I can’t think of anything either.”

“Alright, I will take care of the rest.”

Pol says “Was there anything else that you wanted to ask me about?”

Unauthorized use of content: if you find this story on Amazon, report the violation.

“Um, there was one more thing, but I can’t remember what it was. It was something about the peninsula. Oh, right! Do you know anything about a nation called Osanaka??”

Pol says “I know of it, but I am not very familiar with it. It is an island off the western coast of the Free Union. They are isolationist and only trade with one specific family in the Free Union. As far as I know, they don’t have any contact with anyone else. Anyone who tries to visit their island is never heard from again. Why do you ask?”

“It is included in my quest to unify the peninsula. While I still haven’t decided if I am going to, I wanted to know where it was.”

Pol says “Unfortunately, that is all I know about it, but if you need to know more I can direct you to the family that they trade with.”

“Not right now, but I will talk to you if I do decide to unify the peninsula.”

Pol says “Understood. Is there anything else I can help with?”

  “Nope. I think that’s everything.”

Pol says “Alright. If you think of anything you need, you know where to find us.”

“Right. I appreciate all the work you are doing.”

Annya says “Thank you, but we are actually having fun, so you don’t need to worry about us.”

“Good to know. Well, if you need anything just let me know.”

Pol says “We will, but we both enjoy traveling and trading. This job is perfect for us. We can’t wait to see Demon Hunter City.”

“Understandable. Traveling is really fun and I would much prefer to travel more rather than stay here and rule.”

Annya says “Is that what you would do if you didn’t have to worry about the demons?”

“Yeah. I would turn Athena into a flying ship, gather my family, and then explore the entire world.”

Pol says “That sounds really fun. Honestly, I don’t blame you for being constantly tempted to run off to do other things. As much as I enjoy making money, traveling and seeing new places is a lot more fun.”

Annya says “It would undoubtedly be fun, but he has responsibilities and so do you!”

Pol says “I know. I wasn’t saying I would run off, just that I understood the temptation.”

Annya says “Yes, but talking about those kinds of temptations can make them worse.”

“No worries. Thanks to having people that I can depend on, I will still be able to explore occasionally. I just have to make sure things are in order and issue orders before I leave. As long as I don’t disappear for a long time, it should be okay.”

Pol says “Well, I hope that you get lots of chances to explore. I will do whatever I can to keep things running smoothly so that you can.”

  “Thanks, I appreciate that.”

We chat for a little while longer, but we don’t have anything else important to say. After leaving their cabin, I spend some time with Athena and make sure that she is happy. Or at least as happy as she is able to be, she is still somewhat limited when it comes to emotions.

At Athena’s request, I take the time to fix a few small issues that she has found. They aren’t anything major, just a couple of small mistakes that I made in the enchantments. Once they are fixed, I fly up to the platform and place the empty crystal on it so it can recharge.

Then I take the eleven fully charged crystals and place them all into my pouch. It feels a little weird knowing that I am now carrying enough mana to level a small continent. Sadly, knowing that I could do that makes me a little tempted to do it, but I control myself.

That is not something that I can do without the goddesses’ permission, not to mention Lin’s help. To be honest, I don’t think that I could actually control a spell that powerful on my own. Even Lin and I working together might not be able to do it, although we could probably come close.

At least close enough to do a massive amount of damage to a very large area of land. We could probably do enough damage to destroy the land bridge and turn the peninsula into an island. That would put an end to the threat of the demons and completely prevent the war.

However, it would not remove the demons completely and they would just turn their attention to the main continent. Since I have friends in Demon Hunter City and the southern empire, I don’t want that to happen. Well, maybe friends is too strong of a description, but acquaintances at least.
