Ep. 1291 Soul City Part 1

This way I won't have to waste time walking all the way down the hallway. I will only need to walk back if I need to revisit one of the explored worlds. Luckily, it turns out to be easy enough to change my arrival point, so once that is set I open the door.

This is all that I had actually planned to do, but now that I am here I can't stop. So, I walk through the door and instantly I find myself standing before the gates of the city. There was no pause to collect energy or anything, I just came through in soul form.

That explains why combat is forbidden here, it would mean true soul death if you died here. There are beings appearing around me constantly, but they don't even look around before entering the city. There are also beings leaving the city, but when they get near me they disappear.

It looks like this world only contains the city, leaving the city means you leave the world too. However, the city's wall is blocking my view of the city and my curiosity quickly drives me forward. As soon as I walk through the gate, I stop again in shock and stare at the city.

Just from here, I can see hundreds of buildings in all sorts of different styles. There are some that look like styles from ancient earth and many, many more that look completely alien. The only thing the buildings have in common is that they are all made from the same material.

The buildings are all made from a strange, glowing translucent crystal. The glow from the crystal gives every building a holy look, no matter what shape they are. Now this is what I expected a god's domain to look like, well maybe a little less chaotic.

It looks like everyone built their own buildings without considering what the surrounding buildings look like. It gives the city a chaotic vibe that clashes with the holy glow of the buildings. However, the look is also absolutely unique, I've never seen anything like it.

The best part is that just a few steps in any direction changes the view. As the angle changes, some buildings are hidden while others are revealed. I get the feeling that I could walk around just looking at the buildings for days.

However, as much fun as that sounds, I don't want to freak out Lin by being comatose. So, for now I just walk around a little, staring at everything like a country bumpkin. The people in the city are just as interesting as the buildings and just as varied.

There are members of every race I have ever seen and imagined and many, many more. There are beings of beautiful races and ugly races and everything in between. That isn't even the end of it as there are just as many beasts as there are people.

The story has been taken without consent; if you see it on Amazon, report the incident.

Some beasts are walking on their own while others are mounts or pets. Then I spot a larger beast that has a humanoid pet sitting on its shoulder. It seems that everything across all of creation can come here and I love it.

Before I realize it, I have been wandering around the edge of the city for hours. I really want to keep going, but I am sure that Lin will be awake by now. So I reluctantly head back to the city gate and walk back into the hallway.

When I exit my meditation and open my eyes, I find that Lin is awake and watching me. She immediately asks why she couldn't wake me, so I tell her about the hallway. I tell her how to access it and the rules of the place as well as the dangers involved.

I don't really want her risking herself in the hallway, but I won't stop her if that is what she wants. Besides, as a mage, strengthening her soul could be quite useful to her. Still, I will leave that up to her, I trust her not to be reckless, unlike me.

Besides, I make sure to tell her everything I know so that she won't have to stumble around. She will have a much safer start than I did, plus she isn't dealing with a wounded soul. I will wait and tell her about the soul palace and other things if she levels up her soul.

If she chooses not to, then there is no point in telling her the rest of it now. She will probably go just to see if she can, but I don't know if she will go further. I guess that I will just have to wait and see what she will do, for now we head to breakfast.

Bella joins us for breakfast and to my surprise she doesn't seem upset at all. As we are eating, I make sure to compliment her on Lin's new tattoos. At this rate, Lin is going to end up covered in tattoos, not that I mind it in the least.

Of course, I noticed Lin's new tattoos last night, but I was a little distracted at the time. They are just normal tattoos, but I don't have a problem with that, they still look good. Besides, if it makes her happy then I will support her one hundred percent.

Although, all these new tattoos are made with magic ink, so I wonder if I can enchant Lin now. The mana capacity isn't high, but it is still there so it should be possible. Her physique is beyond that of a human, but I should be able to enhance it further.

Then again, I should probably wait until she has all the tattoos that she wants. Wait, I could probably enchant them so that she can change them at will. She could be covered in whatever tattoos she wants and change them when she gets bored.

However, that might upset Bella since it would be taking something away from her. I think that I will wait and talk about it with Lin later, she can decide what she wants. However, putting some thought into the enchantment now wouldn't be a problem.

Even if Lin doesn't want to use it, I am betting that there will be others who will. For now, it is just a random thought, but I work on the idea while I eat. I will try to remember to discuss it with Lin later, but I plan to leave after breakfast.

I don't want to be away for too long just in case Muyaun actually finds the demon leader. Although, if it has managed to hide for this long, I doubt that she will find it. Of course, circumstances may just force it out considering how things are going.

If it attached itself to the emperor, it might be forced out of hiding when the emperor falls. Or I suppose I could go fly over the capital of the empire and see if I can detect it. If I can find and kill it, then I won't need to worry as much about the empire for a while.
