Ep. 1285 Upgrading the Castle Part 2

All of that is simply cosmetic, but I think that Lin and Myria will like it a lot. Now I just need to figure out how to keep the energy that comes from the connection confined to the garden. After all, I don't want the plants spreading and taking over the castle.

I can probably do it by creating some kind of boundary around the garden. I will need to experiment once I have the connection built, but that will be later. With the design of the garden figured out, I hand it to Jarvis and let him order the golems around.

I turn my attention to the castle and try to figure out what would look the best. If I add smaller towers to the front corners, that would give it a more balanced look. I don't need the extra space currently, but I'm sure it will get used eventually.

In fact, the tower on the right side can be left open and become part of the playroom. It is about time I reworked the playroom anyway, the kids have gotten used to it. In fact, I wonder if I could enchant it into something like an ever changing maze.

Probably not, at least not for now, I would have to research the appropriate spells first. I already have a ton of research that I want to do, but I don't have the time. For now, I will just add it to the to-do list and worry about it when I have some free time.

Since I have decided how I want to modify the castle, I head to my workroom. I then open up the floor and move into the base of the rock the castle rests on. This is the best place that I could think of to open the connection to the plane of earth.

The trick to this is going to be that I need to make a slightly different connection. I want it to let mana through, but only let stone through on demand. I designed the castle to be able to absorb extra stone and just increase in density, but there is a limit.

I really don't want to know what would happen if the castle's stone went over that limit. So I want the connection to only bring stone through when I want to make changes. In the end, it takes multiple attempts before I manage to figure out how to do it.

Once the connection is done, I set it so that Jarvis can control it and have him make the modifications to the castle. By the time I am done with the earth connection the changes to the garden are done. So I head upstairs and add the two connections to the plane of water.

Next I add the connection to the plane of plant and start trying to figure out how to contain it. The main problem is that the garden isn't a standard shape, so I need to be able to draw a boundary. It doesn't have to be strong, it just needs to contain the life energy.

However, I don't want to destroy or remove the energy, I want it concentrated in the garden. This is both for the plants and so that Albion has a good training area. I have read about a few barrier spells, but those won't stop this type of energy.

This text was taken from Royal Road. Help the author by reading the original version there.

So, I have to take the forms from those spells and modify them to specifically contain energy. As I am working on it, all the plants in the garden are flourishing to the point I can see them growing. The problem is that they are already growing out of their beds and trying to spread.

Seeing it makes me realize that the barrier needs to stop plants as well as energy. It also means that the gardener golems are going to have a lot more work to do. Speaking of, it has been a long time since I last looked at their programming, another thing I need to find time to do.

However, now is not the time to get distracted so I go back to working on the barrier. I draw a line around the garden, this will be used to define the area of the barrier. The hard part is fine tuning the spell to do what I want it to and nothing else.

Eventually I manage to figure out how to make it work, but it is not a pretty spell. In the end, I just can't stand it and wipe out the spell so that I can start over. It takes several attempts, but I finally manage to make it into a decent spell.

Myria says "What is all of this?!"

"Oh, welcome back. I am just doing a little rearranging, nothing major."

Myria says "You call this nothing major? It looks nothing like it did before!"

"Well, there is a little more to it than just a redesign. I learned some new tricks recently. Anyway, do you like it?"

Myria says "It is beautiful! It is more like being in a jungle than a garden and the feeling of life here is intense!"

"I'm glad you like it. How are the preparations for your mission going?"

Myria says "Everything is just about ready and we will be leaving soon. I came to spend some time with you before we leave. If you have time?"

"Of course I do! This can wait till later."

Myria and I head inside to have a meal together and I do what I can to make it romantic. That isn't much considering I didn't have any warning, but Myria seems to appreciate the attempt. Once we are done eating we head to the bedroom and have some fun.

We are careful not to go overboard since Myria has a long journey ahead of her. After a couple of rounds of fun, we spend the rest of the time just cuddling and chatting. When it is time for her to leave, we say our goodbyes and I walk her out.

After Myria leaves, I head downstairs to create the two new training rooms. Once the rooms are built, I add the new barrier spell to help contain the power. Once that is done, I add a connection to each room, one to ice and one to fire.

I add the connections from outside the rooms to make sure I don't get any evolution points. However, I don't need to be inside the room to see that it worked as planned. As soon as the kids get back they can test out the rooms properly and see how well they work.

For now, I move on to working on the enchantments and integrating the connections. Even if the connections don't work out for the kids' training, they still benefit the castle. Having the castle be a mana rich area will make things much easier in the future.

It also means that I don't need to worry about having enough power for the enchantments. As the connections are tied into the enchantments, the available power skyrockets. With the power available I don't have to worry about the efficiency of the enchantments.

So, I focus on making the enchantments more effective even if it is inefficient. Thanks to the nearly unlimited power, I am able to make massive improvements to the enchantments. That and the fact that I have improved a lot since I originally made the castle.
