Ep. 1326 To-Do List Part 2

Once I have a couple of guns made, I switch to using Divided Mind to craft and enchant at the same time. I run out of materials after making fifteen tattoo guns, but that should be plenty for now. Shortly after I finish enchanting the guns Jarvis informs me that the kids have finished training.

I head upstairs to have a meal with the kids and tell them that I will be moving the castle. They have been helping the army still, but they decide to stay with the castle. They happily tell me about how much the training areas have been helping them while we eat.

Seeing most of them so excited makes me feel a little bad for Ekard and Haku. They don’t have training areas so they have been going into the shadow plane while the others train. It means that they are getting more experience, but it is hard to say which method works better.

I keep the kids from running off once they are done eating so that I can test something out. I go grab some of the new guns and some demonic beast leather and hand them out to the kids. I tell them to use the guns to draw something and explain how they work, then let them try it out.

Of course, they have all seen the guns in use by Lin and Bella so they are happy to try it out. Through this I want to see who has some natural talent and who has the desire to be an artist. Even if they don’t want to do tattoos, it wouldn’t be hard to get them other art supplies.

In fact, I might just set up a room for the arts so that they can try out everything and see if there is something they like. After all, they should all live for a long time so having a hobby is a good idea. If nothing else, they should have fun trying things out even if they don’t pick up a hobby.

Even if nothing comes of it, it isn’t like the money I spend really means anything to me. I don’t even bother to track how much money I have anymore and it isn’t like it is worth anything if I don’t spend it. Using some gold for the kids to have even a few minutes of fun seems worth it to me.

Leaving the kids to play, I head outside and find Leonarr to warn him that I am moving the castle. I feel kind of bad because he is sleeping when I summon him, after all the sun isn’t up yet. Despite that, he shows up quickly and doesn’t even look grumpy, much better than I would do in that situation.

Leonarr says “You call, My King?”

“Yes, sorry to wake you. I will be moving the castle to the trade city and didn’t want you to worry when it disappeared. Before I leave, is there anything that needs my attention? Or anything you need help with?”

Leonarr says “No, nothing. Everything is still going mostly according to plan.”

A case of content theft: this narrative is not rightfully on Amazon; if you spot it, report the violation.

“Alright. In that case you can contact me at any time with the medallion if anything comes up.”

  Leonarr says “Understood!”

After that, I tell Leonarr to go back to sleep and I head outside to put the castle away. Then I gate to the palace in the trade city, head outside, and place the castle in the empty plot. I had them leave this area empty specifically so that I would have a place for the castle.

The castle actually looks really good sitting next to the palace, maybe a little dark, but still good. Once it is placed, I head inside to see how the kids are doing with the art project. However, I find that only Mulan and Asuna are still playing with the tattoo guns, the others are watching anime.

When I take a look, both seem to be doing quite well, so I talk to them about learning tattooing. Both have enjoyed it so far and express interest in learning more, the others got bored fairly quickly. However, when I take a look at their attempts I would say that all of them have some artistic talent.

That just convinces me that I had the right idea earlier, so I tell the kids the castle is moved already. That way they can go out and explore the city if they want, which of course they all do. I am not too worried about them, everyone in the city should know who they are by now.

Even if someone tries something, the soldiers around the city will rush to their aid. Not that many people could even pose much of a threat to them at this point. They have all made good progress in increasing their strength and levels, especially lately.

There really isn’t much for me to worry about now, at least inside my territory that is. If they were heading to a battlefield it would be a different story, but the city should be safe. Thinking of that, I wonder if Myria has made it to the land bridge yet and if she is okay?

Lizzy is with her, so she should be alright and she has a way to contact me if something happens. Still, I think I will check in with her using the medallion, but a little later once the sun is up. Waking her up would not be a good start to the conversation, even if she does forgive me.

Since I am sure someone will be awake, I head to the merchant district and enter Pol’s building. The guy in charge isn’t here, but there are others awake and working so I leave a message. The message explains the delay in opening the gate, but it will just give them more time to prepare.

I also leave the example coins and the list of merchandise that the emperor gave me at dinner. This way, everything should be set up and fully prepared by the time I set the other end of the gate up. Unfortunately, that doesn’t use up much time, so I head over to Sarah’s inn.

There are no customers yet, but the tavern is open and there are a bunch of people up and about. They are all Sarah’s staff and they are working on getting the place ready for the morning. When I ask, I find out that Sarah isn’t awake yet, but her husband is already in the kitchen.

That makes sense, he probably has to get the day’s bread ready and in the oven. When I walk into the kitchen, as expected I find Aaron working with dough and the smell of baking bread. I stay off to the side so that I don’t interrupt him and wait for him to notice me.

Aaron says “What can I do for you, Ash? Sarah won’t be up for another hour or so.”

“Actually, I came to see you. Do you have someone who can take over for you? The emperor agreed to you studying under his chefs.”

Aaron says “Yeah, Mary can take over for me. Are we leaving soon? If so I will need to wake Sarah up and tell her before I go.”
