Besides, taking her the gear and the gate is a good excuse to see how she is taking things. By then, Lin and the others should have told her everything and I am curious as to what she will decide. She may have said she would want me even if she had to share, but saying and doing are two different things.

  While I do need an elven wife and would prefer her, I don’t want her to do it if she has even the slightest doubt. Silverleaf would be acceptable, but I always got an obsessed vibe from her that worries me a little. Besides, I have spent more time with Brightfire and know her better, so things would go smoother.

  However, the final decision has to be hers, I just want to know what she is going to choose. I am mainly curious if she really meant what she said, or was just saying what she thought she should. With all the gates I have already made, making another doesn’t take me long at all.

  However, I don’t immediately gate to the capital, instead I leave the castle and take off. As I am flying towards the military base I access the system and check the coverage map. The bigger obelisk in the city covers a bit more than half of the distance to the base.

  I think that if I create another big obelisk in the military base the two of them should overlap. That will mean that I don’t need to place any smaller obelisks between the two. I have plenty of them and can easily make more, but this is more in the nature of an experiment.

  So, I fly over to the base and land somewhere near the middle of it, then I start manipulating the stone. I bring it up from underground and form it into a big obelisk, then I start enchanting it. Leonarr isn’t at the base currently, so there isn’t anyone who will be using it right away.

  However, it will still start collecting data on the troops and their training even without anyone using it. It probably won’t be useful immediately, but eventually it will be, I hope. I quickly finish the enchantments, make sure it is connected, and then gate to the capital.

  As soon as I arrive I go looking for Brightfire and I get my answer when she spots me. She immediately runs up to me, throws her arms around my neck, and tries to kiss me. However, the kiss doesn’t go so well since I am in my normal form and don’t have a normal mouth.

  Before she can get mad at me I shapeshift into my human form and return the kiss. The kiss lasts for several minutes before she finally releases me to catch her breath. However, even as she is panting for breath, she has a huge smile on her face as she looks at me.

  Brightfire says “Finally, finally you are mine!”

  “That sounds a little creepy, especially with the way you are grinning!”

  Brightfire laughs and says “Sorry, I just haven’t gotten over the shock yet! I dreamed of this so many times, but I never thought it would happen! Especially after you met Lin and I saw how the two of you were together.”

  “The fact that you are this happy, even though you have to share me, is really confusing to me. It is even more confusing since you know that you are going to outlive me by many years.”

  Brightfire says “Say that you were going to live for five hundred years. Would you rather live those years regretting something that didn’t happen or would you rather have fond memories to look back on?”

  “Alright, point taken.”

  Brightfire says “Besides, this way I will have sisters to share my grief with and plenty of work to throw myself into. Trust me, I have thought things through thoroughly and am not making this decision rashly.”

  “Okay, I will stop asking. This is not going to be easy, but I will be doing my best to make all of you happy.”

  Brightfire says “I know you will, but don’t stress too much. We are going to be happy just being your wives. Although, it is too bad that you can’t be in two places at once! That would make things much simpler!”

  “Huh, that is a pretty good idea!”

  Brightfire says “Wait, what is?!”

  “Being in two places at once. When I get back I will start looking for cloning type spells and see if it is possible!”

  Brightfire says “Um, could you not let the others know that this was my idea?!”

  “What? Why?”

  Brightfire says “Because you cause enough trouble with just one of you! I don’t want the others blaming me for doubling the amount of trouble!”

  “Haha! That’s not what I plan to use it for, but sure, I will keep it a secret!”

  Brightfire says “It doesn’t matter what your plan is, that is how it will end up! In fact, it will probably end up worse if you have a plan!”

  Brightfire continues to tease me for the next few minutes until I shut her up by kissing her. Then, before she can start again, I take out the gate and the weapons and armor. I spend a bit more time with her before heading back to the castle and making two necklaces.

  Once they are done and enchanted, I gate back to the ship and give them to Pol and Annya. When I return to the castle again I find everyone eating breakfast, so I take the seat between Lin and Mercy. After getting something to eat, I tell Albion and Haku that Brightfire is ready for them to come train her people.

  They immediately agree to leave right away, so I open a gate to the palace for them. Then I ask Lin if everything got figured out and when she says yes I don’t ask anything else. I am just going to leave it to her to figure everything out and hope that she doesn’t go overboard.

  Then again, since she will be one of the ones having to share me, she should keep the number down as much as possible. As much as I hate to admit it, she is right about the empire and that taking a wife is the best solution. I will have to see what I can do about rescuing the emperor’s daughter from the eastern duke.

  However, if she has a bad personality, I will find someone else from the empire to marry. There should be plenty of surviving noble families to choose from, but that is a worry for later. For now, I simply enjoy having breakfast with Lin, Mercy, Bella, and the kids.

  Considering how Bella is teasing me, she has obviously been filled in on the situation. Her teasing doesn’t really bother me, but I notice Mercy blushing at some of her comments. After seeing that, I can’t help but join in and start teasing Mercy a little.
