Ep. 1370 Preparing to Leave Part 5

I have never seen her so happy or carefree, it makes her even more attractive. I change my mind and set a wandering course for us since I am enjoying seeing Brightfire like this. We are still heading towards where Core is, we are just not taking a straight path.

In the end, we spend over an hour just wandering the streets of the capital together. I find myself having a really fun time and I find it very relaxing, which I didn’t even realize I needed. Brightfire also seems to be having a really good time, even though we are not doing anything special.

When we find Core, I first hand over the necklace and then explain everything to her. As I am talking, I notice Core keeps glancing at Brightfire, who is still clinging to my arm. However, I can’t tell if she is just curious or if she is jealous of Brightfire.

She doesn’t say anything about it and I am not about to either, but I am sure that Brightfire noticed. She doesn’t say anything either, I just hope that this doesn’t cause any issues between them. Or if it does, I hope that they can work it out without dragging me into it.

I already have enough to deal with, I don’t want to have to try and sort out their drama. I may be the reason behind it, if it is jealousy, but that doesn’t mean that I can fix it. In fact, me getting involved will probably just make things worse knowing my luck.

After I am done explaining the system, we chat a bit about the city, but I keep the conversation from getting personal. As soon as I run out of things to talk about, I say goodbye and then head back to the palace. When we get back, I get Brightfire to get Albion and Haku to take a break from training.

I give them their items and explain to them how to use them to access the system. We sit down to have dinner together as I explain the functions of the system. While I am at it, I give Brightfire her presents as well, then after dinner I let the kids go back to training.

Technically, it is training for the guards, but I am sure that Albion and Haku will benefit from it as well. The two of them happily run off, leaving just me and Brightfire and I suddenly start feeling nervous. However, I don’t get a chance to even think about changing my mind because Brightfire makes the first move.

As soon as the door closes behind the kids, she climbs into my lap and starts kissing me passionately. At that point my worries are meaningless, my mind just goes blank and I start kissing her back. Things quickly escalate from there, so we move to the king’s bedroom, which I have never used before.

Thanks to the enchantments it is perfectly clean, but I doubt we would have noticed if it wasn’t. Just like with Mercy, I have to be careful and gentle, which means I have to take my time. Not that I mind, but there is no time dilation here, which is probably something I should fix.

A case of literary theft: this tale is not rightfully on Amazon; if you see it, report the violation.

I didn’t think of this kind of situation when I was redoing the enchantments on the palace. I have been thinking of it as just another place, but I should probably treat it as a second home. I will be spending more time here in the future and my wives and kids will be as well.

However, I don’t want to put time dilation on the entire palace, that would cause too many issues. Then again, just putting it on the king’s suite of rooms probably won’t be enough either. As it is, there isn’t really enough room for me and four wives, let alone any that get added later.

The palace does not have any spatial enchantments on it either, so I could use those to add more room. The palace has guest bedrooms, but asking one of my wives to use them would be a good way to get killed. It looks like I have more work that I need to do before I can leave to go hunting.

I quickly plan out what I want to do to the palace, but it will have to wait until later. Brightfire is currently asleep in my arms and I don’t want to disturb her by moving. Luckily, I left room for more enchantments so the modifications to the palace shouldn’t be too hard.

I don’t need to come up with anything new, they will all be enchantments I already used on the castle. Of course, I don’t plan to go quite as far with them as I did with the castle. I spend some more time planning out exactly what I want to do and then sleep for a few hours.

Unfortunately, when I wake up Brightfire is still sound asleep and clinging to me like a koala. There is no way that I can move without waking her, so I start thinking about what else I need to do. I need to modify my crown and the palace, I also need to craft crowns for my wives.

Other than that, I can’t think of anything major that I need to do, but I might be forgetting something. Oh, I need to go back and teach Lin how to hide and lock an enchantment so she can make the item for me. I still need to set up the gate in the southern empire, but they still haven’t contacted me.

Come to think of it, I am not even sure how many days have passed, I lost track of time. Oh well, I am sure the emperor will notify me when they are ready for the gate to be set up. I also need to visit the dragon, but I want to wait until after I reach my next evolution.

Hopefully I will be able to get my next level while I am at it so that I can summon my angel. I also need to visit some more tribes to bring them over to my side, but I can do that on my way south. I also need to figure out what position in the new government I am going to give to the tribal chiefs.

It will need to be lower than the ministers, so probably about the same level as the governors. Eventually, I would prefer if there is no need for chiefs, but that kind of change won’t happen immediately. Speaking of the government, I need to ask Lin if she made any progress on the spell to check people’s potential.

I might be asking too much of Lin, she still has a lot to learn and she also still needs to take the mage tests in the tower. If I remember right, Myria was also planning to take the commander’s test, but she put it off. At this point she probably won’t even think about doing it until after the wedding.

Or was it the captain’s test that she needed to take? Honestly, I can’t remember, but if I tell her that she might get mad at me. I suppose that I could ask Yui, she probably knows who passed what test. I would still like to take the commander’s test myself, but I doubt I will have the time.
