TBE Chapter 24
Ezekiel and his two brothers were still deep inside the forest and he estimated that it would probably take them two more hours before they reached home. He was glad at the results of their exploration since at that moment his experience points were 45 percent to level 3.
He hoped that they encounter more aggressive animals on the way home and his wish was answered since a couple of medium-sized boars attacked them. Ezekiel stored the boars’ corpses in his 4th tab space which was almost full since it now contained 3 boars, 2 small alligators, and 1 huge snake. The 2 boars gave him 2 percent experience points each so his total points were now 49 percent to reach level 3.
Soon they arrived home and when Ezekiel checked the time, it said that it was already 5 p.m. He asked Robert to go to the village market to call on the butcher and tell the man that they had killed two alligators and 1 snake. He thought that Robert should have the energy to go to the village market since Robert and Luke didn’t actually walk but were riding the Tenser’s Floating Disk all day.
Robert immediately ran towards the village so Ezekiel and Luke went to the place where they could dump the alligators and the snake corpses.
After a short time, he could hear loud noises and Robert appeared and the kid looked worried. Suddenly the butcher and several men appeared carrying weapons.
“Zeke! You’re brother said that you’re being attack by alligators and a huge snake,” Butcher said while panting.
“I’m sorry for the misunderstanding. It was just meant to inform you that I killed 2 alligators and a huge snake and would like to know if you want to buy them.”
The men laughed when they heard what Ezekiel had said and they began examining the animals that were on the ground.
They saw that the heads of the alligators and the head of the snake were gone and some of the men had questioning looks on their faces.
“Boy, how are you destroying their heads?” One of the men who asked before tried asking again but Ezekiel just smiled again.
“My brother uses powerful magic! Glowing sticks come out of his hands and they will hit the heads of the animals and the heads would then explode!” Robert shouted and even Luke uttered some noises “Boom! Boom!”.
The men laughed, clearly not believing a word Robert had said which made Ezekiel both nervous and relieved.
“I’ll give you a gold coin for all three!” the butcher said.
“Stingy! The leatherworker would probably pay the kid more,” One of the men said laughingly but Ezekiel didn’t want to create any problems so he immediately accepted what the butcher offered.
The butcher immediately gave Ezekiel a gold coin and then commanded two of the men to get back to the market to get the cart. They didn’t bring it since they thought Ezekiel needed help to fight off some animals.
Soon the butcher’s cart arrived and they immediately loaded the two alligators and the snake in the cart.
“If they’re valuable, why don’t people hunt them? I saw a lot of them in the river deep inside the forest,” Ezekiel asked the butcher.
The burly man stared at him and he could almost imagine the butcher’s jaw dropping.
“It’s not easy to hunt alligators. There’s always a risk that somebody would get injured,” The man said.

Ezekiel just shrugged. The only animals left in his 4th space tab were the 3 boars but he planned to deliver those animals at a later date to avoid suspicions. He was a bit happy at his total current coins which were 3 gold, 26 silver, and 90 plus copper coins.
While the men were leaving, he overheard them saying to the butcher that they should celebrate, and with a wry smile the butcher invited everyone to the village tavern for a drink.
When they all left, Ezekiel and his two brothers went to their shack.
“Sorry about that, brother. When I arrived at the butcher’s I blurted that there were 2 alligators and 1 snake and everyone assumed that we were attacked by the animals.”
“It’s fine. Let’s go ahead and eat.”
Ezekiel prepared food for the three of them and chose one of the dishes that he cooked and based on his sibling’s faces they were satisfied with the taste. After dinner, Luke suddenly asked him something.
“Can I have the long yellow fruit?”
“Are you talking about the banana? Sure here you are. Do you want one as well or something else? I have other fruits.” Ezekiel then gave his brothers a bunch of grapes. When they tasted the grapes, they kept saying that they were delicious.
After dinner, his brothers were still full of energy and started playing with each other but soon it was dark so he called them inside their shack.
Ezekiel cleaned his brothers and their clothes using the Prestidigitation spell and did the same thing with himself and his clothes. He also didn’t forget to cast the Mending spell on their clothes to make sure that they were in tip-top shape. They played some board games beneath the bright lantern for an hour then he decisively told his brothers that it was time to sleep and turned off the light.
He then cast the Mage Armor spell on all of them just to be safe then cast the Alarm spell towards the front of their shack. Then Ezekiel arranged his spells for optimum offense in case they attacked during the night. He then continued telling Robert and Luke the same fairy tale story that he had been telling them and after a few minutes, the kids were asleep.
Before sleeping, Ezekiel reviewed the list of spells in the 3rd level that he would purchase once he reached it. Galder’s Tower and Fly was of course his priority but he would like to purchase several ones as well like Blink, since a way to teleport however short was a good way to escape dangerous situations, or Major Image which was a spell that he could use against people to avoid hurting them, Phantom Steed, for traveling purposes, Sending, so he could send a message to his brothers, Glyph of Warding, for protecting their house or any place that they would stay, and lastly, Fire Ball, since even though it’s a dangerous spell, it was still the most iconic Area of Effect Spell of a wizard.
To be honest, compared to the 2nd level, there were a lot of spells that he could use that were listed on the 3rd level spells list so he would need a lot of coins to purchase them since 3rd level spells would cost him 20 silver coins each.
At first, Ezekiel planned to go to the village the next day to learn his letters from Mr. Duvon but he decided to roam the forest again. He wanted to reach the next level as soon as possible since it would almost guarantee their safety. He planned to go to another route tomorrow so he would encounter more aggressive animals that they could kill. He was just glad that the journey wasn’t too tiring for Robert and Luke due to the fact that they were riding Tenser’s Floating Disk and that they could eat and drink anytime they wanted. He reckoned that if they wanted to, they could even stay in the forest for a few days without issues since he could purchase tents that he could use for the three of them to stay and his Alarm spell would be able to alert him of any danger that might approach them during their rest.
Ezekiel wouldn’t do that though since traveling deep into the forest for a whole day was enough for now and it was still comfortable for them to sleep in their shack.
The next day arrived and Ezekiel and his two brothers woke up at the same time. They ate one of the dishes that he cooked while Robert asked what was their plan for the day. Luke then suddenly shouted, “I want to eat magic pills!”. Ezekiel, who forgot about the vitamins, gave each one to his brother to drink and he drank one as well but he decided that once the bottle of vitamins was consumed, he would then stop.
“I still planned to enter the forest. I’m so close to upgrading my magic and once I’ve reached my goal, I will be able to provide us with a much better house made of magic!” Ezekiel told his brother.
“What kind of house?” Robert asked.
“There’s going to be 2 floors. The 1st floor would contain a kitchen, a magical fireplace, and things that I can use to cook food. I will conjure us a nice bed inside the room so we can sleep comfortably. The 2nd floor would be the bathroom and it would have a toilet, bathtub, water, and sauna!”
“That’s a rich person’s house! We’ll be rich?”
Ezekiel smiled at his brother and nodded so after they ate, it was Robert who prodded Ezekiel that they should start their journey inside the forest so they could have the magical house as soon as possible.
