35. The Tale Of Two Legends

Good morrow unto you dear reader, good morrow indeed...

It remains a beautiful morn, I may say...

  Why...

Tis of great fortune I must presume...

  Yes...

Life often finds itself with many a peril...

  And of that...

  Indeed...

I do count it as fortune...

  For, truly I say...

Tis a great thing for many a good thing to come to one's own...

  Yes...

  And thereof...

  Dare I say...

  Should one be thankful...

  Yes...

  And to you, dear reader...

How do you find yourself today?

  Cold?

  But sunny?

  Why...

  Tis as I said before...

  Yes...

Twould seem the very world is changing...

  And of that...

  Indeed...

Twould seem the very furrows deepen...

Even so as of a farmer's very land...

As the very being of nature prepares itself for what is to come...

  And of it, dear reader...

  Truly, I say...

  Tis best to be prepared...

  For...

  Indeed...

Even so as a man may prepare for the next season...

Even so as he may judge the very winds...

  Nay...

Even the very systems that govern the world...

  Indeed...

Must one judge the very world he lives...

  And of it, in wisdom...

Before one makes a great move...

  Yes...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

  Tis wise to prepare oneself...

  And of it...

  Indeed...

Tis wise to be wary of the very world around you...

  Yes...

  Why...

The very flowers speak of when they shall bloom...

The very rivers speak of their life and death...

Even so, does a wife speak of whence she shall have child...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

Tis so that every such thing in the world does speak...

  Yes...

  Truly, I say...

  Why...

The very tale of which I shall tell today shall tell even more of, I would say...

  Indeed...

  For...

  Well...

I suppose I may well continue now...

  Yes...

  And of it...

  Why...

  Indeed...

  I shall begin...

  Ahem...

Twas many a mile from Sir Terrence and Sir Mendel...

  Yes...

Twas of the district by the name of Galehornne...

  Yes...

  Well...

I suppose I may say quite a bit about this land...

  For...

  Indeed...

It does find itself to be named by the very hero by the name of Sir Hubert Galehornne...

  Yes...

  Why...

Twas named for the very man...

  For, indeed...

Twas of him that they were grateful...

And oh how grateful, I must say...

For, even so as they lived their lives...

And tarried as many humans find themselves doing...

  Why...

Did a mighty dragon attack the very district of Shimmerstein...

  And of it...

  Why...

Twas is said of the very district...

That even the very streets of it...

Were lain with many a beauteous stone...

  Yes...

  And thereof...

  Indeed...

Was it one of the many gorgeous...

  Yet...

  Even the most wealthy...

Of the districts of the outer walls...

  Yes...

  And of it...

  Why...

Was Sir Hubert born in such a place...

  And thereof...

  Indeed...

Did he grow to a mighty Knight...

  Nay...

  To a mighty warrior...

  Yes...

  And this mighty warrior...

  Indeed, twas he...

That did in mighty battle defeat the great dragon...

  Nay...

The legendary dragon by the name of Drachenking...

  Yes...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

Tis not many a beast of this world...

  Nay...

  Not even a dragon...

Whose very might exceeds that of the great Drachenking...

  Hmmm?

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

  Why...

Jake Phyr is simply yet to vanquish one...

  Hmmm?

  Oh, of course, dear reader...

  Indeed...

  Why...

It does occur in the very tale...

  Yes...

The very tale of the boy by the name of Jake Phyr...

  For, indeed...

  He did battle one...

  And of it...

Twas with the help of his allies...

  Yes...

  Hmmm?

  Why, of course...

For the legendary dragon finds itself to be among the well spoke of...

  And hardly...

  Nay...

  Even so simply told of...

  Dragons of the land...

  Yes...

  And of them...

  Truly, I say...

Does the legendary Drachenking find itself...

  To be the very largest...

  Yes...

  Hmmm?

  Why...

I suppose I may dabble a bit in the very nature of the beast...

  For...

  Indeed...

I did witness the very vanquishing of one...

  Hmmm?

  How so?

  Why...

I found myself there even so as Jake Phyr and his allies did indeed bring him down...

  Hmmm?

  How so?

  Why...

  Twould take far...

Far too long to speak of such...

  Yes...

  Hmmm?

  His allies...

  Why...

Twould do a great disservice to who they are...

  And even so...

To what they mean to Jake Phyr...

To merely speak of them as so and sos, do you not know?

  Why...

  The very idea...

Twould be an insult to them...

  Yes...

  Although, if I may...

The very two of them do find themselves to be the very things Jake required...

  Why...

  Twould be a million...

  Nay...

  A billion years...

  But even then...

  Indeed...

Twould fail me to come upon a better set of allies for the grand lad...

  Yes...

  Well...

I suppose some words are to be said for the others...

  Yes...

  Especially that strange old woman...

  Yes...

  However...

  Indeed...

  Twas the very two...

  Hmmm...

  Nay...

  The very four...

  Yes...

  Hmmm?

  Nay...

  Not so...

  The old woman was a...

  Well...

I suppose that tale shall find itself being told another day...

  Yes...

  Moving along...

  Indeed...

  Were the very four...

  Indeed...

  The very four...

  The very things...

  Nay...

  The very people...

  That Jake Phyr needed...

  Yes...

  The very people he needed...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

Even so in all my many years...

  Indeed...

Twould fail me to imagine someone better...

  Indeed...

  Well...

I suppose I could put upon the very list a fifth...

  However...

  Indeed...

Twould be a lack of humility for me to do so...

  Yes...

  Hmmm?

  Why...

  Indeed...

Should fail to be a surprise, I should say...

  For...

  Indeed...

  Tis I....

  Yes...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

  Twas I...

  However...

  Truly, I say...

Twould be a failure of me to merely...

  How you say...

Speak of Jake Phyr's very life as such...

  And of that...

  Indeed...

I do mean the very things that define what binds the very many of us together...

  Yes...

  Hmmm?

  Well...

Twould be a long tale, I say...

  Truly, I say...

Twould take many a day to fully explain the tale of the very two of us...

  Yes...

  Truly, I say...

  Well...

  Moving...

  Hmmm?

  A hint?

  Why...

  I suppose...

  Twould suffice to say...

  That...

  Indeed...

Had it not been my doing...

  Indeed...

  Well...

I suppose, in the grand scheme of things...

Did the very neither of us do nothing to cause it...

  Nay...

  Indeed...

Did the very two of us simply find ourselves...

  How you say...

  With our very destinies...

  Trapped alongside one another...

  Yes...

  Twas my master's doing...

  Indeed...

  For...

  Yes...

He did indeed consider the very two of us to be perfect companions...

  Yes...

  And of it...

  Indeed...

Did he cause me to follow him...

  Yes...

Even so from his very birth...

  Yes...

  Well...

I suppose the very tale in and of itself would take many a chapter to fully elucidate...

  Yes...

  And of it...

  Why...

  I suppose...

  Twould be the very best...

To simply tell it as so...

  Yes...

  For...

  Indeed...

It shall fail to be long...

Before I myself make my appearance...

  Yes...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

  It shan't be long...

  Yes...

  Well...

I suppose I may well merely continue my description...

  Of the legendary dragon...

  The Drachenking...

  For...

  Indeed...

Tis a true beast amongst beasts...

  Nay...

  Tis even so a legend...

  Yes...

  Do say, dear reader...

Has it ever upon you happened...

The very question of what makes a legend?

  Hmmm?

  Yes...

  Indeed...

  The very thing that...

  Why...

Even so as this very beast...

One said to even terraform the very land it walks upon...

  Truly, I say...

Tis a beast to which many a man...

  Nay...

  Even so a woman...

  Nay...

  Even so a mythical creature...

  Indeed...

  Be it a fairy...

  A mermaid...

Even so would a pixie soon grow to respect...

The very power of a beast as such of the legendary five...

  Yes...

  Why...

Tis said that the very sight of one...

Holds itself to be the very most beautiful...

  For...

  Indeed...

Tis the very last sight of many...

  Yes...

  Well...

I do suppose beauty finds itself so...

  How you say...

Oddly perceived by those of the living...

  Yes...

  And of that...

  Indeed...

Do the very eyes, ears and even so noses of the very ones who see the beast...

  Find themselves bowing...

  In fear...

  For...

  Even so is a legend...

  Yes...

Tis the very beauty of its power and might...

  For, indeed...

  Tis a terrifying beast...

  Yes...

  As large as...

  Nay...

Tis even larger than a hundred men...

  Yes...

  Wings so massive...

  That...

  Indeed...

  With even a wing beat...

It manages to tear trees from their very roots...

  And even of...

  A breath of fire...

  So devastating...

  That...

  Indeed...

Even upon the day of the legendary battle...

Between Sir Hubert Galehornne and the Drachenking...

  Indeed...

Did the very beast send its ferocious flames upon the land...

  And of it...

  Indeed...

Did the very stones that were once called precious...

Melted into an ugly gray grime...

The houses, even so of the wealthy and poor...

  Burnt asunder...

  Yes...

  Dare I say...

There exists hardly a beast among the living...

  With a fire more ferocious...

  Nay...

  Even so, more devastating...

Than the flaming breath of the Drachenking...

  Yes...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

Tis the very greatest of the dragons of legend...

  Yes...

  Why...

  Its very reputation precedes it...

  For...

  Indeed...

  Many a man...

  Nay...

  Many a warrior and battalion...

Have indeed done battle with it...

  However...

  Yes...

Are the very many of them taken down...

  With merely a mighty swipe...

  Yes...

  And of that...

  Indeed...

Does Sir Hubert Galehornne remain among the very few...

  Yes...

  The very few...

Even so as he had assisstance from his allies...

  Yes...

Did he remain aming the very few...

Who did indeed do battle with the beast...

  And of it...

  Tis as the legend says...

That his very blade did manage to cut a scar upon its very face...

  Yes...

For, even as the beast raged on...

Did the great man by the name of Sir Hubert Galehornne...

Stand up and alone to face the mighty beast head on...

  Yes...

  Dare I say...

Did the very beast breath its fire upon him...

As he put his shield to his body...

  And defended himself...

  Nay...

  Even pressed forward...

  Even so as his brothers...

  The archers...

  Found themselves upon the rooftops...

Far from the beasts very flames...

  Indeed...

Did the very man do battle...

Even as his brothers fired endlessly...

  Yes...

Twas a desperate battle of scourge and violence...

  Yes...

  However...

  Indeed...

Tis not the tale for which I came...

  Well...

I suppose I may tell it yet another day...

  For...

  Indeed...

Tis a greater tale that I must find myself telling...

  Yes...

  Why...

Tis the tale of the boy by the name of Jake Phyr...

  Indeed...

  However...

Tis not the very end of the question...

  For...

  As one may say...

  What is it...

  That makes a legend?

  For...

  Indeed...

Even so as the very Drachenking finds itself to be a devastating foe...

  Yes...

  Why...

Does it also find itself to be a legend...

  And so, dear reader...

Tis as i would always say...

  For...

  Indeed...

Tis for the very power of the beast...

  Yes...

  Well, I suppose...

  Twould be better to say...

Tis for the very power of the beast...

Its very power to devastate and destroy...

  Even so...

  Its very strength and might...

  Why...

  Even its ferocity...

  Yes...

  Tis of such...

That the very beast finds itself strong...

  For...

  Indeed...

Had it not found itself strong...

  Then...

  Indeed...

Would it fail upon the living...

To exercise such caution against it...

  For, truly, I say...

Does humanity judge by their very eyes...

  And of it...

  Indeed...

Tis for the very eyes of man...

Seeing the mighty beast as strong...

  Yes...

  Tis of such...

That it finds itself to be called a legend...

  Yes...

  Well...

I suppose there is more to the tale...

  The very question, really...

  Why...

Had the very beast been weak...

  Nay...

Had humanity not deemed it strong...

  Nay...

  Had humanity deemed it weak...

  Nay...

  Had humanity deemed it weak...

  Then...

  Indeed...

Would the very beast find itself so...

  Yes...

  Well...

  I suppose...

Tis a bit to be talked about...

  Yes...

  And of that...

  Indeed...

Tis the tale of the mighty Drachenking...

  Yes...

The very largest of the legendary dragons...

  Indeed...

  Well...

I suppose the very tale ends as so...

  Yes...

  And of that...

  Indeed...

  For Sir Hubert's mighty exploits...

Was he given a badge of honor...

  Yes...

For the very district was renamed in his honor...

  And of his name...

  Indeed...

Is it told in many a folk tale...

  Of the Knight...

  Who stood his very ground...

  And struck true...

  Injuring the legendary Drachenking...

  Yes...

Before proceeding to be the very man who drove it out of the land...

Even so as the very brethren with whom he stood...

  Fell to their demise...

  Yes...

  For his great conquest...

  Was he made a legend...

  Yes...

A very tale that men look to for hope...

That women look to for guidance...

That children look upon as a hero...

  That generation upon generation...

  Yes...

  For...

  Indeed...

Does a legend shape a society...

  Nay...

Does a legend save a society...

  Nay...

Does a legend teach a society...

  Nay...

  Even so...

Does a legend make a society...

  Yes...

  Well...

I suppose not in its entirety...

  However...

  Indeed...

Tis a legend that does bring a society to its very fruition...

  Hmmm?

  You don't believe in such?

  Oh?

  Why...

  Surely...

There must exist at the very least yet one legend upon your land...

  Yes...

  Why...

It could be one of a great warrior...

  Or even so...

  Of a great evil...

  Yes...

  Hmmm?

  Of course...

  Indeed...

Twould be a strange thing for a nation to even so exist without one...

  Yes...

  And of it...

  Why...

Does a nation fail to grow without one such thing...

  Yes...

For, as a man was made great that day...

  Dare I say...

Was he a great man even so before the very beast charged upon him...

  For...

  Indeed...

Whether or not he knew it...

Was the blood of a man...

Brave enough to stand against such horrible destruction...

  Flowing in his very veins...

  And of it...

  Indeed...

Did the very beast and the great Knight battle...

  Yes...

  Why...

  One may say...

That the very dragon made the man...

  Yes...

The very dragon made the legend...

  Indeed...

Twas the very way of the beast...

  For...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

Tis the very power of the beast...

  The very might...

That did inspire men to fear...

  And of it...

  Why...

Did a man rise from this fear...

  And strike...

  Yes...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

Twas not many a man that could...

  Nay...

  Even so...

As many a man have tried...

  Indeed...

  Have many a man failed...

  And of such...

  Should I say...

  Yes...

Tis the legend of the great dragon...

  The Drachenking...

  And even so...

The legend of the great man...

  Sir Hubert Galethornne...

  And the mighty battle....

  That changed many a man...

  Nay...

  Even so an entire society...

  Yes...

  Even so an entire land...

  Yes...

  Even so...

The entire perspective of the beast...

  Indeed...

  For...

As there now existed a mortal man who could...

  Yes...

  Did many a man perceive...

That the very deed was impossible...

Truly, I say unto you dear reader, truly...

  Twas then and there...

  In their very hearts...

  For and because...

Of the very man who wrote history...

  Nay...

Who wrote it in the hearts of men...

  Indeed...

  The very act...

  Is possible...

  Yes...

Tis a legend through and through...

Even so unto the lands of the shinobi, and of the wizards...

  Hmmm?

  Time?

  Yet again?

  Oh dear...

Twould appear I over spoke once more...

  And of it...

  Well...

  I suppose...

  Tis my fault once more...

  Yes...

  My apologies, dear reader...

I suppose the very tale merely fascinates me so...

  For...

  Indeed...

Tis the great tale of a man...

  Who proved it possible...

  Yes...

The man who opened the gate...

  Indeed...

  And of that...

  Dare I say...

  Was he a great man...

  Yes...

  Well...

I suppose I shall be moving along now...

  Yes...

  Do keep warm, dear reader...

The very colds of the winter are still yet to pass...

  Yes...

  And of that...

  Indeed...

Do simply enjoy the very things of life...

  Hmmm?

  Why...

If one fails to enjoy life...

  Then...

  What of it?

  Pish posh I say...

Do find yourself sometime to merely dillydally...

Tis good for the heart, I must say...

  Yes...

  And of that...

Good day to you, dear reader...

  A good day indeed...
