They were given many names by many people, not just Charlotte. They accepted them without compint.
Because to the Records of Beast, names are meaningless. Especially with how the current one operates - a hivemind of the animal kingdom.
Like Charlotte Silvi, who is the Anchor separating the Past and Future, representing the long history of Humanity. Avalon inherits the memories of all the Records of Beast before them.
They remember, they watched as humanity began to drift away from being an animal— gaining sapience. They witnessed this happening once before with a particur species of dinosaur... until the meteor hit.
Animals are curious in nature, if they see something strange they would watch it and learn. After all, it is logical.
They did not see through to the end the first time. So they must see it this time.
What came was not something they would expected. The hairless apes, over many cycles, became the masters of the world.
They remember, the first time they encountered the first Records of Mankind. In the memories they inherited, that Akasha was weak, yet determined. It was that first Akasha who gave the Records of Beast a name - Pan.
It has always been like that after the first encounter. Akasha was always the one giving Pan a name in each round of the Great Game.
They remember the first time Akasha won. Gilgamesh was the man who killed them with the help of Enkidu, the Records of Nature. They were named Humbaba at that time.
Then Remus, who called them Typhon.
Now Charlotte gave them the name Charles.
But...
Charlotte gave them the option to name themselves. That had never happened before.
So they call themselves Avalon, after the Lost Isle of Avalon. There were no thoughts given in naming themselves that, it was a pce they found and their current ir.
After killing and consuming all the residents of this pce, Avalon pced their most valuable bodies inside. Now, as they and Charlotte had discussed.
They just need to wait for the Records of Nature and the Records of Cosmos to kill each other. Charlotte and Avalon will finish off the survivor.
And as long as their most valuable bodies are still here... they still have a fighting chance. Even if it has to become a cat-and-mouse chase, they will run and hide to the bitter end.
Charlotte is not the only one who has Survive, after all. Though Avalon's version is a little different...
Oh...
The cat body is with Charlotte, being cuddled in her p while she was working on... something.
"Charlotte.", they called her name out.
"Hm? What is it, Avalon?", she put down a silver pte to cradle the cat in her arms.
"What are you doing?"
"Just making a new weapon, because I was bored.", she sighed, "I was banned from ever competing in any tournament, seeing how arrogant I was and the fact that nobody can beat me. It's a real bore~"
"Then why don't you break the rules.", they suggested.
Charlotte just ughed, "That's a good idea, but I won't do it. Tinkering and making stuff is way more fun."
"Way are you making.", Avalon stares at the parts id on the table.
"You know the Gems I asked you to collect, right? Turns out they aren't compatible with Fae Magic. I got all the parts as Kawl abandoned the project for something else."
She picked up a glowing green orb the size of a marble, and presented it to Avalon, "This is a Fae Core, it can help perform magic without using any of the Edicts. Though I won't be needing it."
They remember, that in the past, even before humanity was a thing, they witnessed the power of the Ancient Fae. How destructive it can be...
And how to use it.
"Charlotte.", Avalon spoke up, "Can we have the Faeric Core?"
Charlotte leaned her head, thinking about it for a bit. With her poker face always on, there is nothing Avalon can get out of her, even her heartbeats are too fast to have an accurate read.
"Sure.", she smiled deviously, pcing the little orb on the table, "You can take it whenever you want."
Avalon purred in satisfaction. They teleported a crow into the room, flying towards the table and picked up the orb with its beak.
Then it flew off— and hit the window gss. The cat just stares at the crow, and the crow stares back.
"I'll open it for you.", she chuckled with amusement.
She went over to open the window for the bird to fly out. They took the chance and went.
"Well, I need some fresh air anyway.", Charlotte watched the bird fly higher into the sky. Her fingers tapped the frame in a rhythm.
"You know, Avalon. I don't have a viable melee weapon. You know why?", she leaned to the side, her azure gaze swirls. That gaze alone activates the fight or flight instinct of the Records of Beast.
Charlotte is dangerous.
They did not answer, prompting Charlotte to create a knife with her Justice Mist.
"Because range attacks are simply... more effective. However, there is no thrill in combat when I just shoot from afar. Sure, the recoil when I pull the trigger or an explosion might give me a jolt. But even then, that cannot repce the feeling of actually fighting up close."
She let out a manic ugh, creeping Avalon out. "HEHAHAHAHAHA!! Fighting Selen made me realize something! I love getting up close and personal! I want to see my opponent's face warped from the pain I cause them!! There are just so... so MANY expressions behind a pained creature!!"
They remember, that all the previous Akasha were calm and collected, even if some were depraved and only followed their instinct. Charlotte was a whole different monster, the glowing azure eyes dispying her madness are the absolute proof.
Excited to show Avalon, she rushed over to her workshop, opening a drawer to get out a booklet, "So! I intended to make this!"
She showed Avalon a gauntlet with armored fingers that also have cw tips, three harpoons that look as if they can be shot out, and two mini-chainsaws under her arm. It looks way too edgy and overkill.
"I'm thinking of a name for this baby... Thunder Cw! Simple yet effective!!", she ughed by herself. Holding her left arm out, she spread her fingers...
"Imagine me holding Romulus' heart, his beating heart gushing out blood... Hehahahaha!! I can't wait to fight him...", more silver sparks escaped from her eyes.
They remember that lightning... best not to reveal that now.
"By the way, can you help me locate Romulus for me?", she leaned her head down, looking at the cat.
Avalon purred in agreement, using eight hundred billion of their bodies across the world began to search. From the deepest trenches to mysterious jungles, far and wide none can escape their eyes. Even in the free sky, they have eyes watching...
And they found him. Together with forty other beings... the Patchwork Gods...
"Romulus is in a nd full of oil and sand.", they purred.
"So Saudi Arabia... Do you know what they are doing?", Charlotte asked, her tone soft and whispy... carrying an undertone of malice.
Avalon continues to observe. They saw through the eyes of fennec and camels... before their eyes, a temple rose from the sand— Grand and Majestic... glittering in the light of the Sun.
A glorious temple... or a grand mausoleum... Avalon cannot decide what it is.
"He just raised a temple out of the sand.", they reported.
"Oh? Is he making his own grave?", she cracked a sadistic smile.
As if hearing her words, Romulus spoke.
"Charlotte Silvi, Silver Princess of Humanity. I am Romulus, the Progenitor of Civilization, hereby decre war on you."
Avalon conveyed those words. And they made Charlotte widen her eyes.
Romulus continued, "I deemed you unfit as the Protector of Humanity. So I will be the one who will save it in your stead, just like I had in my brother's pce when he sought out the gods for blood. If you deny my cim, seek me out... Charlotte Silvi."
Again, Avalon conveyed his speech to Charlotte. She fell silent, but her smile still spread wide across her face, "If he challenges me... then I will gdly accept it."
At the same time, Romulus finished his speech.
"I await your presence, with my Artificial Gods. Come and face me, for your st aspect of Akasha. I have waited for more than two thousand years, and I can wait more..."
And he entered the grand temple, closing its doors.. waiting for Charlotte to come and open them. Avalon stares at Charlotte.
"He awaits you, Charlotte.", the cat tilted its head, purring with a smile.
"Then he will have to wait then...", her eyes snapped over to the pieces on her table, "I will finish this and then face him."
She sat down, and continued to work on her gauntlet. Avalon took the chance to jump onto her p, curling and resting.
Though in truth, Avalon sees someone else.
In the desote nd of India, Avalon walked up to a man made of dirt and gemstones in the form of a serpent. It was looking over at a mass burial site— built by its own hands.
The Records of Nature, Kalpas was its name.
"Why are you burying the dead?", Avalon whispered.
"You would never be able to understand, Beast.", he growled, "To bury the dead, returning them to the nd that once fed them, is a sacred ritual."
Avalon looked around at the barren wastend after hundreds of years being the warzone for countless Gem Holders, mythical creatures, and aliens... weed could barely ground here, food being scarce here is an understatement.
Which only confirmed Kalpas' words. They did not understand what the Aspect of the World meant.
A beast cannot have illogical thoughts, as it is the product of sapience. Avalon is barely sapience, driven only by instincts developed and inherited over millions of years...
After all, it is the basic rule of this world, to discard others for one's own sake. Just as what they do now with their billions of bodies.
A fox being trampled by a bear, tore apart with wild viciousness.
A cow is being eaten by wolves.
Vultures tearing the flesh off a freshly dead zebra.
On and on. Endlessly gather strength for the whole collective.
The circle of violence instated by the world itself. All in order to survive and thrive under the rules of this cruel world.
It is only logical.
