A YEAR HAS PASSED, TEST#101 (III)

"As this story stands, it is yet to be known to the public... at least, until now. I entrust you two that you should keep this information between the three of us."

"You have our word, Selena." - Woodfield replied to her.

"It all started way back... These buildings. You know, they didn't actually start with their working phase in 1998? I am one of the few, maybe even the only one, who still remains as a worker here since the actual beginning. I got hired here all the way back in 96', three years ago; and my work here started as a small contribution. It was here that I was met with her, Lucy."

Shan heard these news and took them to heart with a rather intriguing intent inside of him. Shan arrived and started his work at the facility only a couple of months ago. A year before, though, he was a Tester.

  "Please, do continue."

"Lucy and I quickly became really close in terms or our friendship. She was a genius when it came to medicine, when it came to the human body and overall she could name every bone you had inside of your body.

What I am trying to say, is, she was smarter than me, way above my intellect, and still she treated me like a sister. All the things she taught me helped me to take this position, working in a lab, while also doing the INTERVIEWs, with no problems."

"I remember now a certain thing, it was funny, and I always chuckled at the thought of it. One particular day we were in the lab (now that I'll say it out loud I realize that it isn't that funny) and we had a talk about our work efforts...

I asked her: "So, do you plan on showing me how to disinfect completely while working?" and her reply was: "Completely? Hey, Selena, disinfectant can't cleanse your soul! So, completely, no, but I can show you how to keep your hands and workplace clean..."

"You know what I meant!" - I replied to her. We both started laughing manically, and even now when I remember that moment, it's as if it was the last time I saw her truly happy.

"Since that day, things changed for the worst... She never told me about her problems, and within, her demons were eating her every piece of flesh and soul. Only through word of mouth did I find out that someone was making her feel uncomfortable while at work."

"Lucy was the sweetest soul I had ever met, yet that also meant that she was an easy target for bullying and things of that sort. She dealt with her problems on her own, she never asked for help and she never showed an ounce of worry about herself. All you could see was a happy woman, a smart and optimistic girl full of knowledge. Suddenly, one random night, or as it seems random at first glance, she decided to take her own life. That was a while ago, and the way this PROJECT shows itself, there was no chance anyone should have ever known about it."

"He tried to erase my memory of it, but I didn't let him. I still remember it... Since me and her resided in TEST#303, it wasn't weird to go and take a walk out at night while all the Testers were asleep."

"Mind you, this happened not too long ago... I mean, sure, it isn't recent, but... as I walked down our usual path I was thinking about many things, mostly the Mutants I was to be experimenting with and about in the next fore coming period of time. Before going on the walk myself though, I went to the room she usually slept in, knocking and calling her name, but to no avail." - her voice stuttered at bit at this last sentence.

"She must've been tired and fell asleep" - I thought to myself. And since I wasn't going to let a nice night go by, instead of leaving it completely wasted by going to sleep early I just proceeded with our usual night walk.

"Not going to lie though, I immediately felt that something was off. Nonetheless I walked and walked, thinking things over and over in my head. Trying to remember how exactly I wound up at this job, and asking myself why everyone just accepts it like they belong here forever. Then again, you can't remember your family or real life friends, so to you it seems that outside of this FACILITY there is nothing to do..."

"It took me some time, but eventually I was close to finishing off a lap around the perimeter. It was then when I was faced with the single-most tragic event in my life. In front of me, only a few meters away, lay Lucy, presumably dead. I, of course, freaked out instantly."

"I rushed over to her and to my surprise somehow she was still breathing. It came to me, upon further inspection of the attempted suicide, that the reason the room in which she slept was locked because she was to attempt her suicide.

But she was breathing, she couldn't talk and she looked at me with such a scary look, and you should know that all of the signs of death were there, but by some miracle, after analyzing her fully, I realized that she was very much still alive; probably in such a pain you couldn't even fathom."

"How come you've never told us about this..? Was this hidden from every one here? Meaning, no one knows?"

"No one knows... Only I and him. Come to think of it, I've been creating a plan. A plan against him. But let me finish my story off first..."

Selena continued to recall these horrifying events with as much strength as she could.

"Naturally, I called for help, and soon enough, help came. It was a random worker, a rank underneath mine, so I didn't even recognize him (he was probably a work man, janitor or something of the sorts). What matters though is that he helped me carry her body off to the TESTs building. Inside I could try and help her, inside I could try to save my best friend's life. Come to think of it, maybe it would've been better to ease her of the pain which surrounded her each and every day. Oh, my Lucy... I wish you never attempted such a thing."
