Chapter Fifteen Special Training
The air was cool and refreshing in the early morning, with a hint of chill. The Tabri Forest in the distance rustled with the sound of leaves rubbing against each other in the night breeze. Although it was still dim all around, appreciating the familiar scenery in this hazy atmosphere had a unique flavor to it.
But Johnny wasn't in the mood for it.
Jony felt his shoulders were aching, and his waist was also aching. He felt he couldn't hold on any longer. Even though he came from an ironworking background, he had never tried carrying 100 or 200 kilograms on his shoulders - at home they used to pull small carts.
So he decided to give up. Carrying such a heavy thing and walking so far, even he himself was impressed by himself.
The heavy timber crashed to the ground with a loud thud, kicking up a cloud of dust and creating a small crater.
"Nothing can be done?" Oudala turned back and asked upon hearing the noise.
Jony propped his hands on his knees, hunched over and panting heavily. He stretched out one hand and waved it in front of his lowered head.
"So useless? Turn around and take a look, you've only walked a few steps?"
Without looking back, Johnny also knew how many steps he had taken.
Twenty steps.
That pile of logs is still stacked up just behind you.
"Alas, the young people here are too pampered." Odara walked to Johnny's side, sighing and reminiscing about the past. "In our village back then, we had three teams of young people: one team went into the forest to chop down trees, another team carried the wood back to the village, and the third team used the wood to build walls and huts. The distance from the forest to the village was two miles, but we ran with entire large trees on our shoulders..."
Jony barely lifted his head and looked at Odala: "One... breath, one person, breath, one person one tree?"
"Shut up, you're out of breath. One person per tree trunk, dreaming, I suppose? About eight people per tree trunk, ah yeah, that's quite a spirit."
"This old thing is definitely playing a trick on me!" Johnny thought indignantly. Eight people for one tree, why am I the only one carrying it?
Noticing Johnny's resentful gaze, Odala smiled slyly at him: "Let it go for today, we'll take it one step at a time. Next time you dare to humiliate me in public again, hehehe."
Is this still a warrior? Is this still a thick and honest, kind-hearted, muscular-dominated brain warrior? How can you not only extort but also wear small shoes?
Empiricism is going to be the death of us!
Don't mess with this guy.
Fortunately, Ogata's activity is over. Just as he was about to let out a sigh of relief, Odara's next move also made Johnny realize his own insignificance.
Audrey hugged the wood and strolled to the edge of the woodpile, turned back and smiled eerily, then gently put the piece of wood back in its original position.
"Your road is still very long, ah, still very long." Johnny felt he saw that terrible professor from his university days.
After a small punishment, it was already time for breakfast. Johnny rubbed his waist, which had almost been flashed, and followed Odara to the castle. The surroundings began to be a bit noisy, with residents preparing their own breakfasts, and some shops opening their doors. There were people on the street, three or two at a time, some carrying water buckets, and some carrying baskets. The city of Tabri woke up from the silence of the night and started its busy day. However, for Johnny, this was not a good thing. This was a public occasion, and he couldn't afford to lose face in front of Odara. He put down his hand that had been supporting his waist, held his head high, and followed behind Odara with big strides, like a victorious general returning from battle.
Although his waist still hurts, he is even more unwilling to be fooled by Odala again.
Arriving at the castle, he still walked through the gate without any obstruction, and the guards were still looking straight ahead, which made Joanie start to wonder about the castle's defense. Was this person practicing the legendary art of sleeping with their eyes open?
Breakfast was ordinary, bread and plain water. Filling up the stomach, formal training began.
"Astrid said you're self-taught and use a two-handed sword? Alright." Odara took down another two-handed sword from the rack, "Try attacking me with either a two-handed sword or a longsword."
You're a two-handed swordsman, aren't you? How come you have so many two-handed swords? Joanie thought to herself.
He drew his great sword from behind his back and grasped the hilt with both hands: "Then I'll come."
Audrey waved her hand with the sword in it.
Qiao Ni made a straight cut, with great force and momentum, full of grievances accumulated since early morning.
Audra raises her sword to block, effortlessly and with a flourish.
Jony drew back his sword and swung it horizontally again. Odara held up her sword to block it.
Joni parried again, still being held up. But this time it wasn't a normal block, Odara led Joni's sword to one side and swung around to chop at Joni.
In Jony's astonished gaze, the sword blade hung at his neck, motionless, as if frozen.
"It's no use after all." Odara shook his head and sheathed his sword. "This kind of roughneck isn't even as good as a soldier."
"Am I a fifth-level warrior, not even comparable to a soldier?" Johnny was somewhat indignant. He remembered that fifth-level warriors were very powerful - in the game.
"Rank 5? Kid, don't you know what the Warrior's Guild is? You should still remember the content of those five assessments. Rank 5 is just the beginning, a strong farmer can easily pass it. This thing is just the Warrior's Guild scamming you kids out of money. Warriors? Ha ha, are there warriors who can't even use their own weapons?"
I should have known better, Johnny thought.
"The long sword isn't something that can't be used with both hands, but judging from the situation earlier, your long sword is also used in a similar way, right? You're just slashing around randomly, yet you were still able to hunt down eight monsters from a goblin tribe. That's not easy."
Jony felt like he heard "Wow, you're so smart that you can just barely pass, great job!" again.
And besides, that little girl Ais Wallenstein doesn't understand everything either. At the very least, she's wrong about how to use a long sword.
As they spoke, Odara put down his great sword and drew out a wooden staff from another rack: "Now I'll attack you, defend yourself, let's see your level."
Jiang Zemin is waiting in ambush.
Audra struck first with a slash, then swept and stabbed again, each attack separated by several seconds. Johnny blocked above, dodged to the side, and jumped back, perfectly resolving the attacks.
Then Odara hacked and slashed in rapid succession, Joni parrying the first three attacks before being poked in the belly, doubling over in pain, then struck on the shoulder, falling to his knees in agony.
"You're too weak, you've never actually learned anything. Odara tossed aside her staff and snorted, "Whatever, everyone has things they can't do. Although you can't do a lot of things, I'll teach you for Aisling's sake."
Audra taught Johnny hand in hand, which one was the upper gear and which one was the side gear. What to do when stabbed, how to prevent being chopped. Also, when to hold the sword handle with both hands, when to hold the sword handle with one hand, and when to hold the part above the sword handle and below the blade. After everything was taught, Audra went to the window and looked at the sun, it was still early for dinner. Then asked Johnny: "Do you remember everything?"
"Got it." Johnny felt greatly benefited.
"Alright, each action practice 500 times. If you can't finish, then don't eat dinner. Of course, lunch is up to you to eat on your own. Remember, people do things and gods watch. If you cheat or slack off, I won't bother with you, Odin will punish you himself. And if Odin doesn't punish you, I'll find out during the assessment anyway. Did you hear that clearly?"
That's too much, 500 times, didn't we just get over that thing yesterday? Just taught me eight moves a moment ago!
Jony hung his head in despair: "I heard it clearly."
"Didn't you eat enough breakfast?! Did you hear me clearly?!"
"Did you hear that?" Johnny bellowed.
Is this guy also a transmigrator? Why is he still doing that military training thing? Joanie cursed in her heart.
Then let's get started.
How heavy is a two-handed sword? Actually it's not that heavy. Although the sword is big and powerful, it only weighs about five kilograms.
But there are two shifting methods for up and down, left and right respectively...
Time flew by, and the sun was about to set.
With difficulty, he manipulated his almost numb arms to finish dinner, and Jony played the role of a zombie again, step by step, moving back to his room. His left foot helped his right foot, and his right foot helped his left foot, taking off his two boots and throwing himself on the bed. Jony let out a satisfied moan, then fell into a deep sleep.
Every day should be lived as if it were the last day of life!
These were Johnny's last thoughts before he fell into a coma.
