Chapter Sixteen: The Central Plains Continent
Joni started his devil training. May Odin bless him.
Now let's pull back and take a look at this continent.
First, it was the North. The God of War Odin, before becoming a god, was just an ordinary villager in a small unknown village in the northern part of the Velsa Empire. During the war of the gods, the Velsa Empire collapsed and countless villages and cities were destroyed by fire, and the brilliant civilization seemed to disappear overnight. The followers of various gods, for the honor of their own gods, for their unwavering faith, or for their desired interests, shed hot blood on this land and wrote glory in the annals of history.
Or be forever forgotten.
Countless gods fell, and many more were born. Odin eventually won the portfolio of war god and became the chief deity of the Northmen. His oath-brother Occlus became the new king of the North. On the corpse of the Empire of Vorsa, many kingdoms had been born, some strong, some weak, some cruel, some effete; but in the end, Occlus Spence and his descendants conquered all their foes, subjugating them body and soul, and founded the Kingdom of Osdin.
The people of the Asgard Kingdom believe in the legendary Odin, the supreme Odin, and the invincible Odin. The harsh climate has cultivated their tenacious quality, and their faith in Odin brings them passion for battle. And the barbarians living on the desolate plains surrounding the kingdom give them opportunities to write honor.
Those savage tribesmen, those savage idolaters of totems, those savage believers in beast gods.
No one remembers who started the grudge. By now, the Oserdin Kingdom and the Barbarians have become irreconcilable sworn enemies. Whether it's the Oserdins going north to clear out or the Barbarians coming south to plunder, it has all become a tradition, a habit.
The war is still going on, never changed.
Turn your gaze to the West. The Holy Alliance of Tanrias is located in the western part of the continent, south of Osedin. Among the member states of the Holy Alliance, there is only one religion, the Sun God Derinis. Many independent kingdoms and principalities are closely united around the Church of the Sun God, dedicating everything to the Supreme Lord. Without a doubt, those countries that refused to follow the Supreme Lord have been thoroughly erased, and only a few historians who have delved very deeply into history can infer their existence through scattered clues.
For the people of the Tanian Holy Alliance, there is only the supreme Derinis and the noble and extraordinary subordinates of Derinis and those from God. Apart from the all-powerful Derinis, there are no other gods, and those who usurp the throne of God are all jesters, pseudo-gods, and... Because of this, the Tanian Holy Alliance once fought a war with Austen, although the Kingdom of Austen maintained a certain degree of reverence for the Sun God and never prohibited the preaching of the Church of the Sun God. However, for the people of the North, Odin is their own god, the protector of the North. Therefore, the missionary work made almost no progress.
No progress is made, then a breakthrough is made. In any aspect, monotheism is full of expansibility.
Both sides fought on and off for over twenty years, although Tanias had elite cavalry, Austin's infantry phalanx and the ferocity of all soldiers were not to be underestimated. In the end, both sides signed a peace agreement, and the border returned to peace.
The signing of this treaty does not mean that the Tanian Sacred Alliance is timid or shrinking back. The only reason for the emergence of this treaty is that a terrible enemy has appeared in the west, in that forgotten desert.
Mussata Kingdom
These desert knights wielded curved blades as they crossed the dunes and invaded the sacred lands of Tanias.
With their divine will.
The Kingdom of Musata is also a fanatical monotheistic nation, their main deity being Sarhia, the god of flames and deserts and oases.
Two nations have been fiercely battling along the border for years, and whether they are ordinary soldiers or high-end strongmen, their lives will be left on this small-scale war of faith. The number of casualties is still increasing.
Let's take a look at the south again. The dense forests and rolling hills of the south make it the largest settlement of elves and dwarves on the entire continent. A unified elven kingdom and two opposing dwarven kingdoms are located here. Elves and dwarves despise each other, but have not risen to the level of war; elves want the forest, dwarves love the hills. However, wars between dwarves do occur from time to time. Perhaps there was a reason for the ancient wars, but no one can remember it anymore. Anyway, wars always provide new excuses, and these excuses often lead to more wars.
To the south, bordering inland, is the Kingdom of Chilizese. This country is notorious throughout the continent for its developed slave trade, with elven slaves satisfying carnal desires and dwarven slaves satisfying material desires.
At this time, the two kingdoms of dwarves put aside their old grudges and prejudices, not only ceasing hostilities and forming an alliance, but also drawing in the elves who loved peace. A united army had taken shape, and they would heavily strike the kingdom of Chiliasis; if possible, they wanted to completely drive humans out of the south.
Finally, it's Dongfang.
In name, the East is the great Second Empire of Vylsea, the most powerful nation on the entire continent. Of course, if one only did addition, that would indeed be true.
But addition does not apply here.
The empire in name, but the system implemented by Weirsa was feudalism. On the vast territory, except for the nearby capital, there were 35 grand duchies and over a hundred marquisates and earldoms. They paid homage to the emperor and offered tribute to him; apart from this, they would not heed any orders from the capital.
Tabriz was an earldom on the southern edge of the empire.
Apart from foreign invasions, the entire Second Empire of Valsa was usually immersed in inexplicable wars every day. Some were annexations, some were duels, some were for face, and some were for gold. As for faith, Valsa implemented a high degree of religious freedom - in fact, it could not restrict anything. The emperor's territory was not as good as that of a duke, and the military strength was not as good as that of an earl. The safety of the emperor was protected by his vassals, and sometimes when the vassals were happy, they would also decide on the selection of the emperor.
Tabriz enjoyed twenty years of peace and was considered a rare flower in the empire.
If we mark war as a flame, the entire continent has been scorched.
War, war has always been the main melody of the world, this point has never changed.
We turn our gaze underground. The basement is mysterious and dangerous, with all sorts of strange creatures lurking in the shadows, a perilous race. We look down at the ground, but can only see darkness; the ground looks back up at us, radiating an eerie glow.
So now we can't see anything at all.
If we didn't communicate with others, we would never give the land under our feet a name. What is this continent called? When the first person who stepped onto this land by boat asked excitedly, the residents on the shore were all stunned.
Middle-earth, this is Middle-earth. The answer of a certain lord, confirmed the name of the continent to the outside world.
The sea ships brought many fine goods and took away countless gold and silver. The people on the sea ships said they came from Kannada, crossing the ocean to do business.
Many years later, scholars in Middle-earth discovered that in the Khuzdul language, Khazad-d?m meant Middle-earth. It was also around the same time that scholars of Khazad-d?m found out that in the Middle-earth tongue, Middle-earth actually meant Khazad-d?m.
The goods of Kannana are highly sought after by the upper classes of various countries. Whether it is armor or weapons, fabrics or utensils, they all show a production level far higher than that of the Middle-earth continent. The sea ships do not come often, but the demand is always there, and owning a piece of Kannana's goods has become a pursuit for many nobles. Even the mages have discovered that the magic items from Kannana bring better magic, and the spells recorded on the scrolls seem to be much better than what they already know.
Some people said it was a bad omen, but his voice was soon dispersed by time, leaving only fragmented words on his notes.
If we pull our gaze a bit further, we can see that on the vast ocean, there is a massive fleet sailing towards Middle-earth. They move slowly, laboriously, but steadfastly in the direction of Middle-earth.
Isn't it a large merchant caravan?
No one knew, nor did anyone know of the existence of this fleet.
History is ultimately created by each ordinary person, so let's turn back and look at that ordinary little figure now.
