Chapter 20: After the Battle, Before Training
A good man should achieve great things!
But Jony's first battle was not very successful.
Considering that many poor devils died in their first battle, and some even died miserably or ridiculously, Johnny's first battle was still passable.
Thinking of those poor seniors, Joanie really let go.
In Audra's eyes, her attendant first stared at the chaotic battlefield for a while, then smiled, shrugged his shoulders, as if nothing had happened, wiped his weapon and put it back on his back, with an extremely relaxed expression.
That's not right.
Just like our teacher may worry that we will be disheartened and give up because of one failure, come to comfort us and guide us... but absolutely will not allow any classmate to take his first failure lightly.
In some ways, Odara is Joni's teacher.
"Hey, kid, how many ogres did you take down just now?" Odara asked with a pat on Jony's shoulder and a smile all over her face.
"Not a single one was killed..." Johnny replied, still somewhat hesitant.
"Oh, that's not your fault then. So how many did you chop down?" The smile grew even thicker.
"Not one of them hit..." Johnny had a bad feeling about this.
As expected, a large hand slapped Joni's head: "Not even one was cut off and you're still so relaxed? Ah? As a two-handed swordsman, you didn't even touch the enemy's hair on the battlefield. Don't you feel ashamed? Don't you feel humiliated? Ah?
What should I do then? Cut my own throat?
"I met a giant devil and I withstood many attacks," Johnny explained.
Audra took a step back, looking up and down at Johnny, sneering: "Oh? So you're that impressive? Looks like you've been practicing well!"
He didn't dare to speak up and could only lower his head in a gesture of listening to advice.
"Since you're so capable, I'll teach you how to attack starting tomorrow, so you won't lose face again!" Odara said, and turned to leave.
Joni was very interested in learning the attacking technique, but hearing Odara say it in this tone of voice made him feel a little scared. He shifted his gaze to the priest of the sun god, Gandova Ennis, who was currently treating the wounded warriors and praying for them with a warm smile on his face, comforting their hearts.
Audra's training and Gandova's treatment... Mom, when they first died, it was more straightforward than this!
To be honest, when I die, it seems like there's no feeling at all. Johnny started daydreaming.
Returning to the city with the troops, as usual, was a welcoming crowd of residents. Although still watching the excitement, this time there were some cheers - several gunners' weapons were carrying the giant's head, showing off the Earl's mighty military exploits.
The castle steward had the merchants and servants who reported the giant attack come early to identify some of the more special items found in the giant's camp, confirming that they were from the merchant group. One side was grateful, the other calmly accepted, and the audience applauded thunderously. The entire city of Tabri was filled with a harmonious atmosphere.
As for the military expenses for this expedition, let's discuss it privately later.
-------------
As Jorny returned to the castle with his troops, Astry had been waiting for half a day. She saw them coming in and her eyes sparkled as she grabbed Jorny's hand: "Quickly, let's go to the tavern."
Enduring the strange gazes around him, Johnny's forehead sweated: "You let go first, look at the surroundings..."
Astrid raised her eyes and scanned around, her face reddening slightly. She let go of Johnny's hand and patted his shoulder forcefully: "Hurry up and follow me."
His hands were really soft, and that one rough feeling was probably the callus from drawing a bow... Qiao Ni savored it, saying with his mouth: "Wait a minute, let's talk after the crowd outside disperses."
Astrid thought about it and realized that going out now would only lead to being surrounded by onlookers. So she threw down Johnny and went to find her father to complain. Eisatis stroked Astrid's head, still with a warm smile on his face, looked at Johnny and nodded slightly.
Jonyi saw this and also burst out laughing, nodding his head, but added some bowing actions. —— This might be the future father-in-law!
But then again, he wouldn't have a crush on her, would he? It seems like he's never seen Mrs. Hug's face before. He wouldn't come to me with an arrow just because I'm close to his daughter, would he? Johnny's brain didn't stop for a moment.
Two people came to the tavern, just in time for lunch. As usual, Astrid treated them to a meal, with each person getting a portion of roasted meat and a cup of ale. With their hunger sated, they continued to pester Johnny to tell more stories.
Jiang Yi felt no psychological pressure about freeloading for the past few days, thinking that it was like Xiao Yutou spending money on subscriptions and rewards. An author who updates N chapters a day like himself is worth it.
"If it weren't for the fact that she's a beauty, I'd think I'm being ripped off." Joanie's inner monologue.
Picking up where we left off, Bruyster arrived in the Dark Elf kingdom as a master of arms...
The sun was setting in the west, and Joni, who was parched with thirst, and Astrid, who still had something on her mind, walked out of the bar together, heading towards the castle.
"Taking a walk with a beautiful girl! Being an otaku was really a loss for me!" Johnny's heart was excited beyond measure, this was a pure and innocent virgin heart, stirring in his youthful body.
Astrid squeezed out a lot of plot progress along the way. Until they entered the castle, she reluctantly bid farewell to Joanie with a wave of her hand. This little girl was really anxious, and the story of Youcheng Moyin would have to be suspended here, who knows when Joanie's next holiday is.
Fortunately, there was Pastor Gandawa, otherwise her waiting story would have been too long.
Jony was washing his armor and weapons by the well in front of the house, then carefully wiped his great sword clean with a coarse cloth - velvet would be better, but velvet is expensive. Thinking that treatment is free now, Jony's mouth almost on fire, he gulped down a large amount of well water to relieve his thirst, and went back into the house to sleep.
--------------
A gigantic demon Mephistopheles appeared before Johnny, looking down at the human in front of him: "You found me, mortal, you went to such great lengths to find me, what do you want to do? Do you want to destroy me? I will crush you like a bug. Or do you want to surrender to me? Then you will enjoy all the wealth and glory of this world, you will be my spokesperson in the human world, you will be the only king of this world! What is it, mortal, what choice will you make?"
Joni wore a closed and solid plate armor, with a crazy light in his eyes: "I will annihilate you! Devil! And I, will take your place!"
Joanie, clad in a judicial robe and grasping a staff of office, exuded self-confidence from her eyes: "Annihilate me? Hahahaha, Mephisto, I command you by your true name, submit to me!"
Joni wrapped himself in a cloak, clenched his fists tightly, and purple flames danced in his eyes: "I will annihilate you, for my faith."
---------
Joni's eyes snapped open.
Then slowly closed.
"It must be that I told Astrid too many stories about the Phantom City these past two days, even my dreams are filled with this content. Sigh... what does it represent this time? The evil warriors ruling hell and the world, the rich mages buying the true name of Mephisto, the martial artist... what does the martial artist mean? Faith? Does No Winter's Night have a choice of faith? There isn't one. This is such a strange dream, why did I have this kind of dream again?"
Turn over and think again.
"But we're almost at the ending, which one should I tell Ais? This kind little girl, hmm, let's just say defeating the Demon King. If I said anything else, she'd definitely hit me..."
The door was pushed open with a bang, and Odara's body blocked the doorway in the darkness.
"Get up! The sun is already shining on your butt!"
Joni looked up at Odara, reluctantly got out of bed, and muttered to himself: "At least in Odin's teachings, the one that prohibits lying is definitely not there."
Then suddenly thought of it, he was so devout, perhaps I can...
"Sir, as a follower of Odin, I seem to have not yet fully understood the teachings of the All-Father," Jony said respectfully, emphasizing "follower of Odin".
"Is that so, Odin's teachings? I should tell you, how about you and me being the same, also Odin's people?" Odala nodded in satisfaction, Jony secretly delighted, it seems physical education can be changed to history class.
But immediately, Odara's eyebrows furrowed: "However, with your current skills, you not only bring shame to me, but also to the great god Odin. Come on, follow me out of the city, I'll train you properly."
Joni's facial muscles twitched, as if he saw Prometheus being pecked at his entrails by an eagle, turning back to smile at him. Looking up, Odara was also smiling at him.
This old man is too wicked!
