Cupid was currently sitting in his office since his vassals started picking up the slack. Cupid found himself in a management role. He had started asking his vassals to start filling out survey reports, which he had been overlooking carefully. When the reports had been thoroughly examined, Cupid would then give the go-ahead to mend their love.
Cupid’s entire operation would slowly become more organized, and it meant more time spent with his family. Hedone would now get to spend more time with his parents than ever before because before, Cupid would often become incredibly overtaxed when he was working solo.
Now they could take family vacations to the Mortal World and see all it had to offer. As Cupid was walking out on his balcony, he took in the night sky and loved the chill.
As he was heading inside, he felt a sudden instinct take hold of him and soon stepped to the side, and no sooner would a blue arrow hit the ground where he would have been standing. Turning around, Cupid would cross his arms and look up, and there she was, perched atop the crescent moon, Artemis, the Moon Goddess and mistress of the hunt.
She would soon warp down in front of Cupid and would glare at him. Artemis had cyan-colored skin with silver hair. She wore a white and blue-colored army soldier-styled uniform with her hair tied up in a back bun.
Cupid: So I assume you know.
Artemis: Erebus can hide starlight, but when new stars form, they are usually in a unique pattern, and I noticed an addition in your pattern, but lucky for you, I’m probably the only god that would take notice.
Cupid: Noted. Now, what can I help you with, my dear? Have you come to rat me out?
Artemis: No, not at all. I want to join you.
Cupid: Oh, and may I ask why you're the abstinent Moon Goddess of the Hunt? I believed you were loyal to your father till the very end.
Artemis would then clutch her bow, her scowl forming into a look of frustration and rage.
Artemis: I want to take Apollo down.
Cupid: Your brother?
Artemis: Yes, we have the same powers: the ability to heal and bring disease control of a celestial body, expert prowess with a bow, but time after time Apollo gets more praise and recognition than I ever will.
Cupid: I see. Come inside so we can talk further.
Cupid would lead Artemis inside and take him over to Psyche, who was sitting in the den reading a book.
Cupid: Psyche, my love, I need your assistance.
Psyche: Of course.
Psyche would then close his book, looking completely shocked when Cupid came in with Artemis.
Psyche: Oh my, what do we have here?
Cupid: Artemis wishes to join our ranks, and I need you to confirm her intentions.
Psyche: You mean peer into her soul?
Cupid: Exactly.
Cupid would then turn to Artemis and say
Cupid: Sorry, my dear, but I need to confirm your claim; otherwise, you could be a spy for your father.
Artemis: Yes, I fully understand. Gaze away; I have nothing to hide.
Psyche would then take a breath as his went from green to a dark purple. In that instant, Psyche peered into Artemis’s soul, and he saw countless amounts of pain and broken memories that plagued Artemis. He also found a desire to be recognized and loved.
Psyche saw no sign of betrayal, not even the slightest spark of deceit; her claims were true. Psyche’s eyes would then return to normal as he quickly began to rub his eyes for a moment.
Psyche: Sorry. Artemis Peering into souls takes a lot out of me, especially when I’m peering into the soul of a god.
Artemis: I can imagine, but why would you need to peer into a soul anyway?
Cupid: The mind can lie, but for my husband, the soul is an open book, and he can read those books anytime he wants.
Artemis: I see, so may I join your ranks?
Psyche: I can confirm that Artemis is not a double agent; she actually might be a powerful ally. Her skill set could provide us with a great edge.
Cupid: Well, if my husband can vouch for you, then you may in fact join us.
Artemis: Thank you; I promise I won’t fail you.
Cupid: Now then, when you're done with your nightly duties, I ask that you report to my sister Nyx; she is more suited to your domain than I am.
Artemis: Understood.
Artemis would then take her leave, resting upon her perch in the moon. Artemis would survey the mortal world, and using her bow, she would shoot healing arrows at those who deserved it. She would also shoot arrows of sickness on those who needed to be humbled.
Artemis proceeded with her tasks, but soon she would be visited by Selene, the Moon Titan.
Selene: So what were you doing at Cupid’s palace?
Artemis: None of your business. Selene
Selene: Oh really? Does it have something to do with those hidden stars?
Artemis would then stand up and look to Selene, completely caught off guard.
Selene: Yes, I noticed, and before you ask, who do you think taught you how to survey the night sky before you took charge?
Artemis: Are you going to tell Zeus?
Selene: I don’t have to tell my nephew anything; I’m just asking, are you certain about this?
Artemis: Yes, I am. This could be the start of a whole new chapter for me and finally make my own story.
Selene: If you say so, but remember Hera tried something like this before and was humbled for it. You may be Zeus’s child, but if he finds out you're a part of this, he may not be as kind.
Artemis would then growl.
If you spot this narrative on Amazon, know that it has been stolen. Report the violation.
Artemis: Why do you even care? You only went to Zeus so he could lock your lover in an eternal sleep, and then you had 41 kids with him.
Selene: Hehe, everything you say is true, and it’s because of my children that I’m staying out of this, but please know this: while I am staying neutral in this matter, you have more freedom in this matter having no dependents to speak of.
Artemis: I know.
Artemis would then go back to perform her work.
Selene would then return to her cathedral.
By morning, Artemiss would yawn since the sun was up. Artemiss’s powers were weakened; she would soon teleport to Nyx’s palace. Now, this palace was completely black and was adorned with onyx gemstones.
When Artemiss got close, the doors would quickly open for her as if welcoming her inside. Artemis had only heard stories of Nyx, and from what she had learned, Nyx was a goddess to be feared. Once inside, the doors would close, and the silver braziers would create a black flame that gave off white light. This action greatly amazed Artemis, who proceeded down the hall. Artemis would then run into Nyx’s servants, a human with bat wings for arms, and on his face was a silver bat mask.
Nyx Servant: You are Lady Artemiss, correct??
Artemis: Yes, I am.
Nyx Servant: Good, my masters have been expecting you. Right this way.
Artemis would follow this servant who led the young moon goddess to a ballroom with an empty stage, and then she appeared from a pillar of darkness. Nyx with a guitar; she would then play a song, and her husband, Erebos, would then appear next, playing the drums. What followed was a seriously amazing concert performed by the two primordial gods. Artemis had to admit she was impressed; she had only ever heard her brother's music, so this completely blew her away.
Nyx would then jump from the stage and walk up to Artemis. Nyx was tall; she and her siblings easily towered over the gods on the lower stratum, so Artemis was slightly intimidated by Nyx.
Nyx: So you're the Moon Goddess of the Hunt, huh?
Artemis: Yes, I am, and you're the primordial goddess of the night.
Nyx: Yes, I have to say your darling little sphere is a lovely decoration for my lovely canvas.
Artemiss: thank you
Nyx: Now then, I hear you want to join our little plan.
Artemis: Yes, I do. I want to put an end to Zeus.
Nyx: Ok then, have whatever army sent to Tartarus, and when shit hits the fan, evacuate to Hades Palace. Understood?
Artemis: I will. Is there anything else?
Nyx: Nope, until the day comes, you’ll need to lay low and keep your mouth shut, hun. This is going to be big.
Nyx would then pet the moon goddess on the head and would soon walk over to her husband and start to kiss him. Artemis was relieved and soon made her way out, but after a few steps, she would quickly turn around and ask
Artemis: Excuse me.
Nyx and Erebus would then stop their make-out session and look to Artemis confused.
Erebus: Did you need something else??
Artemis: I was wondering if you could teach me how to play an instrument.
Erebus and Nyx were completely caught off guard but would smirk and agree that Artemis would smile soon, coming over and then trying out instruments. Artemis soon discovered that she was really good with bass guitar.
Nyx and Erebus were incredibly proud of Artemis’s growth. Soon Nyx would invite Artemiss to join their group, and so the band would grow even, changing from the Shadows to the Bats and the blue moon. The three would hold concerts, and they became incredibly popular among the gods. The news of Artemis’s musical prowess reached Apollo; he was greatly shocked. He soon confronted his sister and said
Apollo: So you're playing music now???
Artemiss: Yes, it took a while, but I’m getting better and better.
Apollo: Ah, well, you're pretty bad at it.
Artemis: Hehe, feeling threatened, are we?
Apollo: No, I’m just saying leave the music to the literal god of music and just stay in your own lane.
Artemis: No, it turns out I like playing bass, and both Nyx and Erebus are very accepting of me.
Apollo would begin to glare; it was obvious he felt threatened by his sister's newfound skill. Artemis would soon teleport to her perch and would proceed with her nocturnal duty.
Apollo couldn’t sleep that night; he was agitated that his sister, who he and everyone else had considered a filthy heathen, was encroaching on his domain, and what made it worse was that she actually had some skill with music. The Sun god was nearly driving himself insane with the realization that his sister had talent with music, one of his godly domains, and it was crushing him. It was like placing hot coals on his back. He even smashed his entire room apart. How could this have happened, he wondered?
By morning Apollo would raise the sun and then go into his music room and sit and start playing music.
Meanwhile in Cupid’s Palace, he was sitting with Tartarus before the current events would take place. Tartarus and Cupid didn’t really hang out all too often, but Tartarus has been showing up more and more to pick up the slack whenever Psyche is too busy.
Tartarus, though he didn’t show it a lot of the time, greatly cared for his siblings and would die to protect them. Tartarus was currently preparing a remedy for Cupid, who had been gravely ill for a few days. Tartarus had bottled up the remedy, teleported to Cupid’s palace, and walked to his brother’s bedroom.
Cupid: Hello, Brother.
Tartarus: I heard you weren’t feeling well, little brother. I made you this.
Tartarus would then pull out a round, white-colored glass vial. Cupid would then smile and take the vial in his hands and would undo the cap and smell it.
Cupid: Mmm, Day Lily, you remembered.
Tartarus: Of course that was the very first flower Gaia grew for you, and it was always your favorite.
Cupid would smile and take a sip of the remedy and smile, soon drinking the entire contents.
Cupid: Mmm, I’m feeling so much better now.
Tartarus: I thought that would help.
Cupid would then stretch but would soon feel kicking and would place his hand on his extended stomach.
Cupid: They’re kicking up a fuss again.
Tartarus: May I, um, feel
Cupid: Hehe, sure, go ahead. You know, if you want, you could also go through the same thing.
Tartarus would then place his hand on Cupid’s extended belly, and he then felt a full front-on kick, and he quickly jumped back towards the wall, shaking like a leaf. The oh-so-powerful embodiment of the Depths was completely shaken to the core.
Cupid couldn’t help but laugh wildly. Tartarus would then blush, glowing white, and say
Tartarus: Shut up, it was really alarming.
Cupid: Imagine how it feels for me. You got the outside experience; I get to feel the full inner workings of it.
Tartarus: Interesting; it honestly makes me want to try this pregnancy thing out for myself.
Cupid: Well, I am curious what my children will be like. I mean, Gaia gave birth to four sets of children: the Titans, the Hecatons, the Cyclopes, and humanity.
Tartarus: not to mention the Godzilla-like child and her brothers Ourea and Pontus.
Cupid: Yes, I know. I guess I’m just worried. I mean, I’m not sure what my children will be like, and that is alarming.
Tartarus: I know, but it’s going to be ok, Cupid. It’s not going to be easy. I’m sure that something will happen to tip the Lightning Flinging Jackass off, but we’ll be ready when it does happen.
Cupid: Thank you.
Tartarus and Cupid would then spend the rest of their days talking to one another. This would be the first time they spoke in a very long time. Tartarus has been writing stories and has taken lessons from a mortal named Edgar Allen Poe. Cupid was curious because he did wonder how Tartarus spent his days. His palace was located in the depths, not in the heavens.
Tartarus would soon leave and make his way back to his palace using the power of darkness. Tartarus would descend soon, arriving in his foyer and climbing his way up the stairs. Tartarus would then hear the song of his crows as well as the gleeful barking of his bat wolf chimera. Abandon Tartarus would then walk into his library and would see Edgar busy writing away. Tartarus would then smile, sneaking up on Edgar and then wrapping his arms around the writer, spooking him.
Edgar: Tartar, please stop doing that. I was in the zone.
Tartarus: But I so rarely get to touch you, Edgar. I’m only following your rule of one hug a day, and I haven’t hugged you yet.
Edgar: Well, you got it. Can we be done now?
Tartarus: You're such a stickler.
Tartarus would then let go and soon look over Edgar’s work. The story was as gripping as it always was and deeply horrifying. Tartarus loved all the works from Edgar; it’s what inspired the primordial god to write stories of his own, and it’s those stories that filled the primordial god’s library.
Tartarus: Edgar I can’t wait to read this latest work.
Edgar would then smile and roll his eyes.
Tartarus: You say that every time, Tartar. Honestly, writing is the only way to pass the time in this place.
Tartarus: I asked my sister, and she’s going to help us make a garden to make this place more comforting. I know how you mortals love nature.
Edgar: Hehe, yeah, that’s true. Honestly, my life was complete hell. Being here is a comfort, even with the ever-encroaching darkness.
Tartarus: You know things are only going to get more interesting.
Edgar: You mean with the future succession war about to happen??
Tartarus: Yes, no one will be spared. That is why I will ask you again: will you drink my ambrosia?
Edgar: As I have said, I don’t want to be a god Tartar; I’m happy with what I have now, an eternal undisturbed afterlife where I can write my stories for all eternity. That’s all I need.
Tartarus: I know, but at the same time, Edgar, you are important to me. Life in the shadows has been isolating, and your stories have filled me with so much amusement.
Edgar would then blush heavily; he knew of the Primordial God’s feelings for him, and he had those feelings himself. Edgar would soon stand up and turn towards Tartarus and would then give him another hug, and the two would walk to the Aviary, where they spent time with the many crows residing there and speaking with them and training them.
The two would have a great amount of time with each other.
Shifting back to the Heavens Eros was busy reading another book in Cupid’s library. Eros would then close another book and let out a sigh, looking out the window, and would then smile. Eros let out a small sigh, and then he heard something; it was the pitter-patter of a child. Eros turned his head to the side and saw Hedone, who, upon realizing he had been seen, would jump and try running off. Eros was curious and soon teleported in front of Hedone, causing the small godling to fall on his rump. Eros would then help Hedone to his feet and would giggle.
Hedone: You're really nice. Eros
The Vassal would then nod his head and would walk back to the library. Eros would then feel a tugging on his gauntlet and would stop. Turning around, he saw Hedone holding his hand.
Hedone: Wait, can you play with me, please?
Eros would then let out another sigh and then agreed, allowing Hedone to lead the way to his playroom. Hedone would then play many games with Eros, from tea parties to dress-up, to make believe Eros was being a good sport through it all and did his best to keep the little godling entertained. It was two hours before Psyche came into the room looking for Hedone. Psyche then saw Eros currently holding an exhausted Hedone while Eros himself was admiring the view from the window.
Psyche would then come over, and Eros turned to see him.
Psyche: I’m surprised. Normally my little one gives the servants a run for their money, but he’s the one that managed to get tuckered out. Very surprising. Eros would shrug and soon come over and hand Hedone to Psyche and hold him close.
Psyche: Thank you.
Eros would then return to the library and go back to reading.
It had been a good week for everyone.
