Book 2 Chapter 16

Lisa downed a healing potion as her hand stung from being shattered. This only lasted a few seconds as she was fully healed at that time.

“ Holy cow, you gave me a greater potion.”

The quartermaster chuckled at this before looking at the otherworlder.

“ I got the stuff just past the treeline. I will be back shortly with the others. I know a good deal about equipment, but it will be much better to have someone dedicated to it make the adjustments.”

  Jake chuckled to this.

“ No argument here. You know the plan was to camp here for the day anyways. Just try to get them here before noon.”

The dwarf merely nods before vanishing again. After that, it did not take long for them to find the proper noble wagon hidden in the brush and Lisa led the horses to the clearing where Jake smiled seeing a heavy lockbox strapped to it. Having some of his summons doing most of the heavy lifting, they soon found all the storage arrayed around them. Without missing a beat the otherworlder starts going through them and getting them separated into three piles. The first was completely ignored as the second was being loaded back onto the carriage. The last pile, including the heavily enchanted strongbox, was being opened one by one. One box contained a rather large tent that was highly decorated. Another had an assortment of weapons ranging from daggers to halberds.

“ Care to summon your team?”

Lisa did not realize she was watching rather slackjawed until Jeff addressed her and she cursed herself before getting the four cards she was given and activating them to be summoned. The drain on her mana became instantly apparent as the ursa, lycan, vorpa, and neko formed in front of her. Unlike Jeff’s summons, hers however were not impressive.

“ Have them pick out their kits. Make sure to explain why you want them to have what they are getting. Take note of equipment slot limitations. That is why all the armor is arranged as a full set instead of individual pieces.”

Lisa nods understanding this via her connection with her subclass. For the ursa, she directed it to have a heavy armor kit and a heavy shield and one handed mace taking over the other two equipment slots for it. The lycan got a short sword and a crossbow set with some medium light armor to make the most of it’s speed and variable range potential. The vorpa healer got a water pendant focus to go along with her healer garb and staff while the neko got a wand and buckler with some leather armor similar to the lycan’s but not reinforced with metal like theirs is. In addition, they each got a tool belt accessory that had a potion case and basic tool kit any adventurer might need. With them, as kitted as they could be something strange seemed to happen.

The tale has been stolen; if detected on Amazon, report the violation.

  Conditions met

Unnamed ursa, unnamed lycan, unnamed vorpa and unnamed neko have merged into [Adventurer team (beastkin, elite)]

Total stats and stats growth shall be combined and optimized for each member of the unit.

All summoning restrictions have been increased by 4x.

All gear shall be upgraded automatically to the appropriate tier upon entering a safe zone.

Higher tier’s require extra upkeep, but will not exceed half of class holder’s total mana regeneration...]

Lisa looked at the notice even more surprised as she continued to read it. What shook her however is that Jeff received a message as well.

“ Well that is surprising but not entirely unexpected.”

Lisa looked toward him confused and he saw this as well and laughed lightly.

“ I am a soldier-specialized summoner. My units are highly trained and disciplined with mass-produced gear topping out at uncommon. Only my own elites and officer units can be equipped better. You on the other hand seemed to be the opposite. Your units or rather team, is composed of inexperienced adventurers that will get better gear as they grow stronger, as long as you can manage it that is. At lower levels, I clearly have the advantage in numbers and training, but I suspect if your team gets as strong as you then I would have a hard time beating you at an equal level.”

Lisa blinked at this and considered it. She instantly saw the pattern that it was usually guild enforcers to stop high-ranking fights of it’s members instead of the guard. It made sense because no level twenty-something guard squad is going to stop a drunk level 50 adventurer who just got back from a bad run.

With that done Jake gestures to the strongbox that had several magic tomes in it. Which caused Lisa to gasp in surprise. Magic tombs were rare and these were top quality even though they were bottom-tiered.

“ Here, lets start with this one.”

Jake grabs a book and hands it to her. When she reads the cover, she found the word ‘GROOM’ in magic script. Opening it she found the spell’s descriptor a little confused.

“ Who would spend so much on a glorified hair cut?”

Jake could not help but laugh to that as she did not stop reading.

“ A good hair cut costs ten copper, and thats just for your head. Multiply that by a thousand each month.”

Lisa opened her mouth to counter but found the words stuck. For a regular person, such a spell would be a convenience for the rich. But for a general leading an army, something as simple as keeping their army's hair cut would cost a fortune.

“ Plus, it keeps your hair all over your body trimmed, on your head, under your arms, off of your legs... even down there.”

Lisa started to blush a deep red as she remembered what happened that morning. That however did not stop her from quickly learning the spell.
