Chapter 26: The Legendary Vampire

[Note: Using a template for transmigration allows free choice of time and location.]

[Note: Template characters possess a degree of autonomy and often exhibit unexpected behavior.]

[You are considering the time and location of your transmigration.]

[You have selected New York City, Brooklyn, 1940.]

[You have transmigrated to New York in 1940. From this moment on, the wheels of history begin to turn.]

  ...

[March 19, 1940. You stand on a New York street. The city is already a concrete jungle, choked with traffic and teeming with skyscrapers, showing early signs of the global metropolis it will become. A wave of boredom, a familiar companion, washes over you. But then, a spark. Maybe it's time to stir things up a bit. You're an extraordinary being, sure, but your real power lies in your endless lifespan. Physically, you figure you're probably weaker than a juiced-up Captain America. A flicker of nostalgia crosses your mind as you think of your old pal, Dio Brando. You can't help but wonder just how far humans can push their limits.]

[March 20, 1940. It's confirmed. You're in Brooklyn, on the southeastern edge of Manhattan Island, a predominantly Black neighborhood. By nightfall, you've witnessed seven brawls, and some gangbangers even tried to jump you. Seriously? These guys have lost it. You could have turned them into dust, but really, you've mellowed out over the centuries. Instead, you simply relieved them of their cash and turned them into vampires. A little parting gift.]

[March 21, 1940. After spending the last 40 years chilling in the Californian countryside, you've pretty much mastered the art of being a lazy bum. Money? You're not exactly hurting for it, but you need a cash flow to coast through this extended vacation called life. You decide to pay a visit to Stark Industries, figuring you might as well offer your services. But Howard Stark, in all his wisdom, can't be bothered to meet with a Chinese guy. Apparently, he doesn't believe a member of your race could be a genius in the making. You leave with a smile. This world is full of surprises. You can't even be a proper slacker in peace.]

[Late March 1940. You establish a tech company called "Stargazer," a nod to Oscar Wilde's famous quote: "We are all in the gutter, but some of us are looking at the stars." The location? Right across the street from Stark Industries. Petty? Maybe. Satisfying? Absolutely.]

[April 1940. Your research skills are, to put it mildly, god-tier. As a fledgling company, you quickly make a breakthrough, although it's technically a re-breakthrough since you already achieved it in your past life. You invent and improve upon the transistor, a device later hailed as one of the greatest inventions of the 20th century.]

[May 1940. You introduce the transistor radio and transistor television, marking the first commercial application of the transistor. The invention starts to rake in serious dough. This is hailed as a landmark event in the electronics revolution.]

[November 1940. After more than half a year of dedicated effort, you build the world's first supercomputer. Unlike the ENIAC, which wouldn't be built until 1946, a behemoth that occupies 1800 square feet (167 square meters), consumes 150kW of power, and can only perform 5,000 additions or subtractions per second, your supercomputer can perform nine million logical operations per second, all while consuming less than 100 watts of power.]

You could be reading stolen content. Head to Royal Road for the genuine story.

[December 1940. You hold a massive press conference to announce your invention. The whole nation is stunned. Scientists, including Albert Einstein himself, flock to Stargazer to witness this electronic marvel. Einstein even declares that this invention will fundamentally alter the way people work and think.]

[January 1941. As expected, the US government starts placing orders for your supercomputer. Your company begins to expand rapidly. Your warm, Nike-like smile charms the pants off everyone, and you become buddies with Einstein, Abraham Erskine, and a bunch of other eggheads. Your team successfully recruits John Bardeen and Walter Brattain, who will later win the Nobel Prize in Physics and become presidents of the American Physical Society.]

[February 1941. You and your team invent and refine the silicon integrated circuit, pioneering the history of world microelectronics.]

[March 1941. You invent the electronic eye camera and the integrated circuit television.]

[June 1941. You announce that computers will soon be available for commercial use. In just over half a year, your company has quadrupled in size.]

[June 1941 - November 1941. You secure 37 patents, mostly stuff you brought over from your past life. Under your leadership, your company expands like wildfire, not just in electronics but also in the military and aerospace industries. You're not the biggest player yet, but your reputation as a scientist already surpasses Howard Stark's.]

[December 1941. Japan bombs Pearl Harbor. The US joins the Allies and declares war on the Axis powers. World War II kicks into high gear. For you, it's just another Tuesday.]

[January 1942. You start planning something big. Using your arcane skills, you perfectly recreate a Stone Mask, just in case.]

[February 1942. Phase one of your plan is a success. You secretly travel to Norway and beat Red Skull to the punch, snatching the Tesseract from a church in T?nsberg. So, this is what the legendary container of the Space Stone looks like? (You have obtained the legendary item: The Tesseract)]

[May 1942. As the former "Father of Aircraft," your designed jet aircraft successfully completes its test flight. In late May, your buddy Dr. Abraham Erskine invites you to join Project Rebirth, which he is leading. You discover that the supercomputer being used in this project is, in fact, your own creation. You win this round.]

[June 1942. You're intrigued by Project Rebirth, especially the Super Soldier Serum. According to Erskine, it can enhance a user's metabolic function and all bodily functions, allowing them to use 100% of their brain capacity, reaching the peak of human potential. You can't help but wonder what would happen if a vampire took this serum.]

[December 1942. Thanks to your supercomputer, the project progresses rapidly. The Super Soldier Serum is completed three months ahead of schedule. You use a pre-installed backdoor in the computer to intercept and record all data related to the serum.]

[February 1943. You successfully replicate the Super Soldier Serum in your lab. For testing, you have a monkey don the Stone Mask, turning it into a vampire monkey, and then inject it with the serum. The result is disappointing. The monkey becomes incredibly strong, but its body quickly breaks down, and it dies.]

[April 1943. You and your team try to improve the Super Soldier Serum. This time, the test monkey survives for an extra day. Its terrifying strength and agility leave you shaken.]

[May 1943. Howard Stark hosts the "World Exposition of Tomorrow" in New York. You're on the guest list. When you chat with Howard, he has no recollection of rejecting you years ago. You chuckle, unfazed. After living for over a century, nothing can get to you anymore. But you still tell him the truth, and the look of embarrassment and shock on his face is priceless. At the expo, you also meet up with your friend Abraham Erskine, as well as the future Captain America and Winter Soldier. You notice that, just like in the original timeline, Erskine is quite fond of Steve Rogers and helps him enlist in the Strategic Scientific Reserve.]

[June 1943. After a month of training, Steve Rogers, just like in the original timeline, is injected with the Super Soldier Serum and successfully enhanced! By monitoring the supercomputer's progress, you suspect that it might be because Steve Rogers was exposed to radiation during the enhancement, specifically vita-rays, but this needs further testing.]
