It’s been 20 years, and the Purge has never happened for some reason. The Maestro didn’t follow through with his plan, not at all.
I believe I am the cause of the Maestro’s hesitancy.
After all, I was favored by him, and looking back on it, he may have had some romantic feelings towards me. I take a deep breath, trying to forget my life in heaven is hard.
I soon turn off the water of my outdoor shower, and I soon spread my wings and start flapping to dry myself off. Once I’m completely dry, I hide my wings and step out, covering myself with a towel, mainly my lower body. I then step out onto the scorching hot desert sand, and I take in the intense heat.
My friends and I have moved to a remote and abandoned farm out in the desert. We are working on restoring it so we can make it livable.
We still have our divinity, so we have no need for food or drink, but we want to contribute to this world, so we struggle on making our way back to the house, I see.
Amoi was working on restoring the roof when we first got here; it had several holes, but with a lot of work, we’ve managed to fix a majority of the holes. I soon looked up and said
Celestine: Hey there, Amoi, how goes it?
Amoi: Yeah, it’s fine. Celestine I’m almost finished.
Celestine: Great.
Stepping into the house, I would find Eton; he was working on a piece of paper at the table.
Eton: I’m working on a map of the area.
Celestine: Ah, I see. How is it going?
Eton: Well, since I gave up my sight, I’m relying solely on my hearing to discern the distance from us to them.
Celestine: May I take a look?
Eton: Go ahead.
I would soon walk over and look at the map Eton was making, and I was expecting something poorly prepared with scribbles, but what I saw was a perfectly detailed map that perfectly displayed our home, the road, the barn, and several other unique details that not even I could pick up on.
Celestine: How did you make a map this well?
Eton: It's been 20 years since coming to the earth realm. I have learned to comprehend and understand all the new sounds that come from this plane.
Celestine: Has coming here hurt you, Eton?
Eton: Not really. When we were in Heaven, I had to listen to the cacophony of angelic hearts every single day. Their melodies collided and formed discordant, crazed maladies that nearly drove me insane, but since leaving Heaven, I hear many new and refreshing sounds, and it all relaxes me, and the melodies of a mortal human heart are soft and gentle but still very expressive. It’s simpler here on earth, and I greatly enjoy it.
Eton would then smile as he turned to me.
Eton: Thank you.
I would then smile and continue to my room, and I would fully dry off and get dressed. I would then exit my room and help Amoi with the chores for today, which included getting 69% of the work done. Eton believes that we should get our chores done by the third week of the third month.
Having finished our work for the day, we retired to what will be our dining room and began to relax. We also discussed all the work we will need to do in the future.
Since we still have our angelhood, we still have our powers, and we have mainly been using a small amount of it mainly to use the ability mending touch. To instantly restore any deteriorated or broken materials.
Now we do possess the ability to fully repair any building or structure, but the reason why we are holding back is mainly to avoid the Maestro’s Gaze.
The author's tale has been misappropriated; report any instances of this story on Amazon.
Now the Maestro is omnipotent, but his sight is limited to key sections of the earth, and where we are now is not close to any of them, hence why we chose this place. If we were to use our full power, we would be setting off a lot of alarms. The amount of power we do use could be written off as angels who work with humans doing their job.
We soon rest and relax and continue our work as we all work on fixing the house. We continue to grow close. When we get the stove and gas working, we start cooking, mainly what we find. To resolve this, we go to the nearest town and trade work for vegetable and fruit seeds.
Now preparing the soil was the hardest, but once again we went back to the town and traded work for advice on how to grow crops.
The townsfolk were incredibly nice and even rewarded us with free hand-me-down clothing, all of which were so nice. As we interacted more with the townsfolk, we gained a good relationship, and in time they helped us finish restoring our farm.
We even got the hang of farming. Eton was a big help; with his divine hearing, he was able to tell when rain was coming so we could plan accordingly. We soon had thriving crops, and an elderly woman was kind enough to donate two hive bodies and even gave us two live honeycombs with a queen and a few hundred workers inside.
Eton was able to speak with the Queen Bees, and he was able to get them to help us with pollinating our crops. Our farm was now thriving, and we managed to make some money, which we knew nothing about at first, so we mainly gave it away at first, but after being educated on the worth of money, we began to save it.
With our farm restored, a young man named Nate would come over often to hang out and talk. Nate was really kind and warm, offering to prepare our meals and basically learn how to be a house husband.
Nate would go on and on about how he was in an arranged marriage with the son of the town mayor, and Nate was anxious since he came from a wealthy family that taught him nothing, and so wanting to change that, Nate offered his services around the town, but his incompetence—well, it basically caused a lot of issues.
Amoi Eton and I were more than willing to help Nate out, and since we gave him a chance, he greatly flourished. Nate would sometimes spend the night.
One day, however, Nate came over wearing glasses covering his eyes. I then took him to the side and said
Celestine: Nate, are you ok?
Nate: I’m fine….
From the porch, Eton shouted, saying
Eton: No, you're not.
Nate would turn his head away from me.
I would then remove the glasses, revealing Nate’s black eye.
I was incredibly furious about this, and I nearly clenched my fists in anger. Ready to display my full power
Eton then came over and placed his hand on my shoulder, bringing me back to my senses.
Celestine: Nate, who did this to you?
Nate would then cry Eton Amoi, and I soon brought him inside, and Nate explained everything. Apparently, Nate was attending a party with his fiancé. Things were good until Nate’s fiancé got drunk and wanted to engage in physical intimacy. Nate said no, and his fiancé punched him in the eye and stated that he can and will do much if he is denied.
So on top of being hit and threatened, Nate was also taken advantage of, and by this point I was ready to bring down pseudo divine judgment.
We allowed Nate to stay in our spare room; he then took a nap.
Eton and Amoi and I sat at the table wondering what we could do. It was at this point that Amoi revealed that Nate was pregnant with twins.
This caught me incredibly off guard, but Eton was able to confirm this by saying he heard two smaller melodies coming from Nate.
I was still incredibly confused, but Amoi explained that in recent years there was a massive change in human evolution, and now some human men can give birth.
And at this point I was wondering who in heaven approved of this, and Amoi stated that this was put into play so that humans could repopulate once the purge had cleansed the old world.
Celestine: That interesting tidbit aside, what are we going to do about Nate?
Eton: Well, I can say this: the mayor and Nate’s parents are incredibly livid, and Nate’s parents are on their way here now.
Amoi: Well, we honestly can’t let him return; anger spurred on by alcohol can lead to violence towards everyone, even children.
Celestine: Well, I'm all for letting him stay here, but what are we going to do about Nate’s parents?
Eton: Leave that to me.
Amoi and I would then turn to Eton, and Amoi would smirk, saying
Amoi: What did you hear?
Eton: Don’t worry about it.
Celestine: Should we also reveal ourselves as well?
Amoi: We should the best relationships are based on trust.
In truth the reason why the townsfolk haven’t been shocked by us is because we used the Angelic Perception spell from the Tome of Light.
The angelic perception spell basically hides divinity from those we want to hide from, so when humans look at us, they see normal humans, but if we let someone in on the secret, they will see us as we truly are.
Amoi would then hurry over to the kitchen and start cooking for Nate. I would then go out and tend to the crops and fields, and I would also start working on building irrigation pipes.
It was at this time that Nate’s parents would arrive in a luxurious limo. They looked around and loudly scoffed; these people were the very definition of luxury and privilege.
They looked at me, gave me a glare, and then Eton came outside. He approached Nate’s parents; the two met him and were about to rant, and then Eton said something that caused both of Nate’s parents to actively stiffen up and turn as white as ghosts.
They then said something and hurried back into their limo and drove off so fast they left skid marks. I then finished my work and came over to Eton, who was sitting on the porch swing.
Celestine: So what did you hear?
Eton: Well, let’s just say that Nate’s parents indulge in a taboo that will get them murdered by the public. The fact that I know this was enough to get them to agree to end the arranged marriage as well as provide their son with a healthy inheritance that will take care of him and his descendants for a long time.
Celestine: You're cruel, you know that.
Eton: You say cruel, I say business fluent.
We would soon meet Nate, who looked strangely starstruck and was looking at us like we had ten heads.
Celestine: You can see us, can’t you?
Nate silently nodded his head. I then came over to Nate and gave him a hug. Eton and I then explained what happened, and Nate was overjoyed. He was happy he got to stay with us, and we spent the rest of the week getting Nate’s room together.
When that was done, Nate became a happy member of our home.
