Chapter Fifty-two: Xuan Ye

Originally, Zhao Zhu thought he had plunged himself into a zombie den. Although this was indeed the case, Zhao Zhu soon discovered that these zombies did not move and did not rush towards him with bared teeth to devour his flesh. They stood quietly, solemnly and neatly, just as they had done when attending court together a hundred years ago, looking very still.

At the same time, Zhao Zhu also discovered that on each zombie's forehead was a talisman, which at first glance was much higher than the low-level talismans he had exchanged before. Even after hundreds of years, these talismans still shone brightly and retained their spiritual power, continuing to suppress the zombies that had accumulated over the years.

If Zhao Zhu didn't clearly understand the consequences of tearing them down, he would have torn all these talismans down and taken them away. Of course, now tearing these things is almost like suicide, with hundreds of Qing dynasty old zombies stirring up together, just thinking about it makes one feel desperate and terrified.

The surrounding zombies gave off an eerie and terrifying atmosphere, but fortunately, Zhao Zhu had encountered such things many times on his way here, so he had developed a kind of "immunity" psychologically. Although he was still tense, he didn't panic too much. He quietly walked through the group of motionless zombies towards the dragon chair in the center of the main hall.

The throne is adorned with nine golden dragons, and on either side of the throne are six giant pillars with a diameter of 1m, featuring cloud dragon patterns inlaid with gold. In front of the throne, there are four pairs of decorations: the auspicious elephant, the qilin, the crane, and the fragrance pavilion. The auspicious elephant symbolizes national stability and consolidation of power; the qilin is a mythical auspicious animal; the crane represents longevity; and the fragrance pavilion implies a stable country. Above the throne, in the center of the ceiling, is a dome-shaped caisson that rises upwards like an umbrella. In the center of the caisson is carved a giant coiled dragon, with its head lowered and mouth holding a precious pearl.

On the dragon throne, a majestic man with a white beard and hair sat wearing a dragon robe. Despite having a purple talisman on his forehead, he still exuded an aura of supreme authority. Centuries ago, he had sat in this very same throne, commanding the vast Qing empire. Even in death, he had arranged for a special mausoleum to be built for himself within the imperial ancestral tomb complex, taking with him all the symbols of his literary and moral achievements to boast to his ancestors about the merits of his descendants.

Zao Zhu stepped up the stairs, one step at a time, and arrived in front of the dragon throne. As he drew closer, he saw that the man wearing the dragon robe was an old man with white hair, probably nearly seventy years old. There were also several pockmarks on his face. It was normal for Emperor Kangxi to have some pockmark scars on his face since he had contracted smallpox in his youth.

  "Really... is it Xuan Yan?"

Zhao Zhu took a deep breath, unconsciously calming the turmoil in his heart, and instead firmly stretched out his hand, one hand grasping Xuan Ye's chin, the other pinching Xuan Ye's jaw.

If there is dragon vein essence, where is it most suitable to hide?

As a ninety-five year old, he must have been accompanied by his own side, so, for a dead person, the most suitable place to hide things is where?

  Shut up!

This was the first location that emerged in Zhao Zhu's mind, so he decided to go and take a look for himself. Even if it wasn't the essence of the dragon vein, it should be some other treasure.

Of course, if there is no mouth, then it can only be ****. The old lady Cixi was not dug out from **** with a piece of ancient jade worth the city.

But just then, a loud shout came from the gate of the great hall:

"Stop it, stop it at once!"

Zhao Zhu stopped his actions and looked at Yan Xing and Xiao Ge, who were standing at the gate. Shi Chong had gone somewhere, and it was unknown where he had gone. Either he was seriously injured and stayed in a certain place or he had already died. In fact, if Zhao Zhu hadn't been lucky, he wouldn't have known how many times he had already died.

"You can't desecrate him, or there will be punishment. He was the supreme ruler in life, and was suppressed in the Taiji Temple with over a hundred corpses for a century to suppress his resentment. If you show disrespect to his body, when the resentment is released, even the Purple Huafu spell won't be able to suppress him! If he breaks free from suppression, everything in this great hall will come back to life along with him!"

Yan Xing spoke quickly, revealing his anxious mood at the moment.

However, Zhao Zhu just shook his head after listening, then pinched the tip of his finger with force, and Xuan Yan's mouth opened wide, shouting out a piece that looked like amber, emitting a soft glow, vaguely visible, there was a shadow of a dragon swimming inside.

It's really the essence of dragon vein, it's really inside!

Zhao Zhu's heart was filled with great joy, and he inserted his fingers into the mouth of Emperor Kangxi, wanting to dig out the essence of the dragon pulse. If he succeeded, it would mean that he had completed the main task himself and could return directly.

However, a change occurred at this time, and Xuan Yan's mouth, which was originally pried open by Zhao Zhu, suddenly closed.

  "Ah..."

Zhao Zhu let out a miserable cry, and then the whole person fell from the stairs. His right hand index finger, ring finger, and middle finger were all bitten off by Xuan Yan, and the wound began to turn black and quickly became festering, obviously showing signs of being poisoned by corpse poison.

  "You're paralyzed! You're harming people!"

Yan Xing immediately burst into a loud scolding, but he soon couldn't scold anymore. The reason was that the bodies of over a hundred Qing dynasty zombies in the entire Taiji Temple began to shake. Xuan Yan, who had bitten off three of Zhao Zhu's fingers and was originally sitting on the dragon chair, slowly stood up. The purple talisman on his forehead started to fade at a speed visible to the naked eye.

"With the blood from my heart's core, I beseech the true heavenly symbol to descend!"

Yan Xing stepped on the Seven Star Step, and then pinched his fingers together with both hands. A mouthful of blood spurted out, and it actually condensed into a blood-colored talisman by itself.

"Stick it on, stick it onto the Purple Slab Seal!" Yan Xing shouted at Xiao Ge beside him.

Xiao Ge didn't hesitate, his wrist flipped and two silk threads flew out, wrapping around the blood talisman before directly piercing through the distance of over a hundred zombies, sticking to Xuan Ye's forehead.

  "Hum!"

A low hum sounded, and the Emperor returned to his throne. The over a hundred zombies in the Taiji Temple also stopped shaking and returned to calmness, stabilizing the situation.

Zhao Zhuang drew his sword and chopped down on his own right arm, severing the discolored limb from his body. Ignoring the pain, he charged back up the stairs like a madman.

"Stop him, stop him! He doesn't care if we live or die!"

After casting a blood spell, Yan Xing's face turned pale and his body was empty. At this time, he could only hope that Xiao Ge would be able to stop Zhao Zhu, the madman, because he had seen through Zhao Zhu's intentions. He wanted to get the dragon vein essence out at all costs, complete the task, and leave the task world first. Later, even if all the zombies here went berserk, it wouldn't be his problem anymore. Yan Xing and Xiao Ge could only go to other places in the ancient tomb to find new dragon vein essence to hand over the task, which was equivalent to pushing Xiao Ge and Yan Xing onto a dead-end road!

That's right, Zhao Zhu now has this plan, this idea. Although previously his fingers were bitten off by Xuan Ye and he was forced to cut off his own arm due to the poison entering his body, that was just his carelessness. If he had been more careful, more decisive, there would still be hope for him to take out the Dragon Vein Essence from Xuan Ye's mouth!

Moreover, most importantly, Zhao Zhu has no way out now. When Yan Xing and others also walked into the middle passage to the tomb of Xuan Ye and arrived at the entrance of Taiji Temple, it meant that Zhao Zhu had lost all his way out. Now he can only go to dig out the dragon's pulse in Kangxi Emperor's mouth to complete the task and return to the real world, otherwise there is only one true dead end!

Either be killed by zombies or be killed by Yan Xing and Xiao Ge, Zhao Zhu has no choice but to fight!
