"Awaken you wight."
All I could see was black. My senses were limited to just hearing, listening to the strange voice.
Suddenly, my sight was regained. Looking around, I was right where I was when I died. Looking down, I couldn't see my body.
Then I found it, smashed up on the ground.
My charming looks had been reduced to a mere puddle.
I looked around, it appeared time had frozen. My friend was staring, horrified about what had happened, his face contorted into an ugly grimace. He really was ugly.
The surrounding construction workers also seemed horrified, it made sense, it was an ugly scene.
Then, it appeared in front of me, the voice.
"You are dead if you were wondering." The owner of the voice emerged.
In my mind, I was expecting one of two things, either something related to one of the worlds religions, or something like a god that would send me to another world in an isekai.
What appeared in front of me was... my liver.
It was definitely my liver. Coming out of my puddle, it was a talking version of my liver.
"Huh." I said out loud. I was disembodied and could somehow speak.
"I'm dead right?" I said to confirm.
"Yup, I just said that, sorry about that." The liver said nonchalantly.
"So what happens now?" I asked, trying to figure out what would happen next.
"Since you died so stupidly, i'll send you to an afterlife of my choosing." The liver said.
"Can I suggest something?" This was going to be my one chance to live out my isekai fantasy. Even though I was sad about my life ending here, that didn't mean that I can't just move on and go into a cool isekai world.
"Yeah sure, what is it." The liver said moistly, dripping a tad bit.
"Can you send me to like, a fantasy isekai world? That would be pretty cool?" I suggested earnestly. The liver seemed to be cool.
"Um.... I don't see why not. Alright." The liver then opened a portal.
The portal was blue and swirling, very much a portal. It had faint electricity coming out of the edges of it, making it quite the enticing portal.
"Sweet, thanks man!" My dream was coming true, I was going to be able to live out my isekai dream.
You might be reading a pirated copy. Look for the official release to support the author.
"Wait, is this like a monkey's paw thing where the world is going to suck on the other end?" I wanted to check. Even though most isekai have the power fantasy experience that I want, there are the ones that induce suffering and punishment for the mc.
"Let me check real quick." The liver went into the portal quickly, and then came back out.
"Should be fine." The liver confirmed.
"Alright. Lets send it." I moved towards the portal in whatever strange form that I was in right now.
I touched the portal, and then was sucked into it. As I was sucked in, the puddle of my corpse was also sucked in the portal. It seemed that the entirety of my remains were being transported into the portal, including the liver.
I awoke in a grass field. It was peaceful, a calm wind was blowing, and the sky was blue with some clouds. Feeling the air around me, I approximated that it was early spring.
It seemed peaceful all around,
I stood up, it looked like there was a town in the distance.
Looking at my body, I made a couple observations.
Firstly, my body was that of my body in my previous world. Luckily I wasn't reincarnated as some kind of weird animal or beast. I was definitely human.
Secondly, I had my clothes as well, including my glasses.
Lastly, i felt a pulsing sensation coming from my liver, it felt like a heartbeat, but so prominent that I could notice it without directly feeling it. It was't painful. It was merely brining my attention towards it.
I lifted up my shirt. There was no obvious pulsing visibly, but I still felt it.
I moved my hands over the area, trying to feel it out.
I then poked it directly with my finger.
Thwoop
Before my eyes, a menu popped up.
"Sweeeet!!!! It's a video game type isekai!!!" I was super excited. Not only was I living out my dreams of being in a fun isekai world, I had a video game system. It was a surefire sign that I would be able to become overpowered in this world.
I looked at the menu. There were four sections.
Inbox
Character
Inventory
Achievements
I started by looking at the inbox. There was a red dot on it, so there was likely something in it. The pulsating in my liver was likely notifying me of the message in my inbox.
But that could be ignored. All could be ignored except for that final section. Achievements.
There is nothing I love more in life than achievements. Where in my previously life achievements were subjective things that provided little to nothing, achievements in the digital world were everything for me. Everything.
I excitedly tapped my finger on the menu midair.
A menu then popped up out of the old menu. It was a screen full of rectangles with achievement descriptions on them.
I tried to scroll to see how many there were, the more there were, the happier I would be.
I scrolled. Kept Scrolling. Kept Scrolling. Kept scrolling. I spent almost an hour just scrolling, and they were still coming.
I was about to explode. This was better than anything I could have ever imagined. A seemingly unlimited amount of achievements. Now this was the ideal isekai life.
I would complete them all. I would complete them all. I would have to.
Going back to the top, I looked at the first achievement.
"Kill a green slime"
It was a simple mission in most video games. Starting off the journey by starting a long line of killings.
I looked around, searching. Then I saw it, my first victim. I had no weapon, but it looked pitifully weak.
I walked over to it. The slime went about up to my knees. It was pure green slime, looking gooey and unintimidating.
I reached towards it, and punched it.
It started to bounce away, becoming fearful from even the slightest contact.
I walked after it, it wasn't very fast.
I reached out to tear it apart, but before I could, it desperately bounced on me.
"Mm"
It slightly tickled. It felt as if I got a medium-small sized paper cut. This felt like what I though losing 1 hp was.
I then reached towards the slime, pulling it apart. It came apart easily, dissolving completely.
My liver ringed again, and after I pressed it again, the achievement screen showed a red dot, signifying that I completed the achievement.
I opened the menu and sure enough, the first achievement that was previously grey now lit up green, showing that I had completed it.
The achievements would need to be completed.
