Chapter 24: A Calculated Encounter (2)

Tang Man patted her shoulder from behind, and she came back to herself, a little less dazed.

"Jiang Yan, going downstairs to eat?"

Tang Mans pair of fox-like eyes sparkled even brighter when she smiled.

Jiang Yan agreed and followed her down.

Although our family is low-key, the flower vases and paintings placed between floors are all high-quality, and the owner of this house is a person with great taste.

She leaned over the railing of the stairs, pretending to bend down casually, and took a stealthy glance at the man sitting on the sofa downstairs with an air of elegance.

Its been a year since they last met, and his appearance gradually overlapped with the image in her memory.

His peach blossom eyes, fine and provocative at times, make people unknowingly sink into them. His eyebrows and eyes always carry a few points of unruly and unrestrained public sons temperament, appearing frivolous.

But he has an air of nobility in his every move, and his demeanor makes people feel a little intimidated.

The mist in the teacup rose, and his outline became clearer.

He is accompanying the old man to taste tea, with a slight purse of his thin lips, occasionally giving out one or two sentences as opinions.

"Hes just pretending, normally he doesnt have any patience at all, completely fooling around with old master."

Tang Man saw Jiang Yan staring at Ruan Jianglin and said a sentence on the side.

Its not entirely deceiving him either; when hes in a good mood, hell actually patiently help Old Master appreciate tea.

His mouth is used to tasting, and with a little improvement in his opinion, the tea flavor naturally comes out.

So the old man didnt care whether he was being fooled or not, and always loved to drag him out for a drink.

It is another kind of joy in family life.

As they went downstairs, the old ladys gaze also shifted over and took a look, her eyes lingering on Jiangyan for a few seconds.

Then he said to Aunt Li: "Everyone is here, lets have dinner."

The old ladys legs have become increasingly inconvenient in recent years, and its almost impossible for her to walk without a cane.

As she stood up, Ruan Jiang immediately put down his teacup and reached out to support her. She had been strong for a lifetime, usually if Old Master was helping her, Old Mistress would certainly stretch out her hand to open Old Masters hand again, and clumsily go get her own cane.

Insisting on proving to others that Im still capable.

The old man let out a soft sigh, his aged eyebrows slightly less stern, and instead had a hint of helplessness: "Only you can persuade her, shell listen to you."

The old lady was helped into a chair and sat down before he did.

Ruan Jianglin raised his eyes at that moment and happened to run into Jiang Yans clear and cold eyes.

His surprise was slightly evident, but he didnt show it, probably because he hadnt expected Tang Mans friend to be her.

She had a calm expression and followed Tang Man to call out to the old lady and old gentleman.

The old man didnt respond, and instead helped himself to a bowl of nourishing soup for his wife.

The old lady let her sit down and eat without a word.

Tang Man sat down in a chair opposite Ruan Jianglin, shouting "Young uncle" before sitting down.

Jiang Yan didnt make a sound, and sat down beside Tang Man. She pretended to be calm, but her constant fidgeting with her fingernails betrayed her, revealing the tension beneath her composure.

She couldnt bear Ruan Jianglins sizing-up gaze and raised her eyes to meet his.

He had an expression of a few playful flavors, leaning on the chair without moving his chopsticks.

He stared at Jiang Yan like this, and it was inevitable that he would attract attention.

"How is it that you know this young lady?"

The old lady saw through it at a glance and asked carefully.

Tang Man also raised her head, and the shocked expression on her face was not concealed at all.

Everyone seemed to be waiting for his answer, and Jiang Yans heart also inexplicably felt a chill.

Looking at his playful expression, with a casual attitude, he hooked the corner of his mouth as if thinking about how to answer this question.

Jiang Yan was looking forward to his acknowledgment, but also feared his acknowledgment. She hadnt thought of a way to explain it to Tang Man yet.

He also seems reluctant to get to know his family in this way.

"You guess." He raised the corners of his mouth, and his tone was full of slyness.

He moved his chopsticks, and the old lady didnt bother with this issue anymore.

Although he didnt respond directly, it left a question in peoples minds and made Jiang Yan feel uncertain.

The meal ended with an awkward atmosphere in the air, except for the old lady and Ruan Jiang occasionally saying a word or two, there was nothing else.

Delicious dishes taste bland in the mouth.

After dinner, Tang Man pulled her up the stairs with a movement that didnt attract attention.

Ruan Jianglin suddenly remembered that there was still Jiang Yan, only to find that he was no longer downstairs.

Jiang Yan sat on the sofa in her bedroom, while Tang Man was removing her makeup in the bathroom. She gazed out of the window at the cars below alone.

The phone rang once and she opened it to look.

"Come down," he said in his usual tone, with a hint of condescension.

Jiang Yan didnt expect Ruan Jianglin to have his own phone number, which he had saved before going to Qing Su last time.

He casually asked a question, and she also said it.

He had never called her before, so there was no record of Ruan Jianglins phone call in her mobile phone.

She took her mobile phone and went downstairs. The old man and the old lady were no longer there, only Li Ayi was busy in the kitchen.

She looked around her surroundings in a circle, but still didnt see the mans figure.

Aunt Li seemed to know that she was looking for Ruan Jianglins figure, turned around and pointed to the direction of the courtyard.

Jiang Yan nodded slightly, expressing her gratitude.

She slowed down her pace on purpose, originally looking forward to seeing him, now that they were only a step away, she hesitated.

The storm came and went quickly, and the sky that was just densely clouded is now clear and sunny.

He stood beside the pool, with a straight figure and a handsome back, standing here from her angle, could see his smooth jawline very clearly.

He had one hand in his pocket, and the other was holding something that he later saw was fish feed. He made a slight movement, throwing it upwards into the water tank.

The fish in the pond rushed to grab food, and the species of fish seemed to be very strong. If they couldnt get food, they would fight, and water splashed out of the pool, wetting his sleeves.

He seemed to have ignored it and continued feeding.

Jiang Yan walked closer and found that the fish in the pool looked extremely frightening, with what seemed to be fangs visible when they competed for food.

Jiangyan is afraid, and even the distance from Linjiang River is a bit far.

She stopped in her tracks, and Ruan Jianglin finally turned his head to glance at her with a hint of teasing in his eyes: "Jiang Yan, arent you going to play that relentless pursuit game with me?"

The fish in the pool suddenly jumped up for some reason, and the pool that had just been filled with water after a heavy rain splashed out some water.

Jiang Yan furrowed her delicate eyebrows and unconsciously took a step back.

"Did I say it was a coincidence?" she raised an eyebrow and said with a probing tone.

The water in the pool splashed his pants legs wet too, he was standing too close and didnt have any intention of backing off, so naturally got him wet.

His thin lips pursed slightly, and the faint playfulness in his eyebrows and eyes dissipated, replaced by more impatience. This mans emotions changed extremely quickly.

He should have no mood to tease anymore, and threw all the fish feed in his hand into the pool. The fish in the pool suddenly jumped up and fought more fiercely.

"Do you think Im stupid?" He raised an eyebrow and countered.

Jiang Yan was somewhat unclear about his meaning, he always spoke ambiguously, making it impossible for people to guess his intention.

  Jiang Yan didnt say anything.

He gazed at the center of the pond, where the restless fish had just calmed down.

He suddenly thought of something fun and said with a sly tone, "Jiang Yan, do you know what our old man is feeding in here?"
