Lesson 1 (Part 1)

The summer temperature in Chemnitz is not high, relatively speaking, its still quite cool compared to domestic.

The second team is also a regular squad of Chemnitz, so every day they have to follow the clubs training plan. At the same time, they also participate in regular league and cup competitions organized by the German Football Association, although only amateur in nature.

Yang Chen arrived early at the training ground in Chemnitz, a very small training ground with simple facilities. The first team occupied most of it, and what was left was arranged for the second team and the youth training camp.

After searching through the Super Coach Assistant System, Yang Cheng found that Chemnitz II and Youth Team have a large number of people, but their potential is generally ordinary!

Since the East German era, Chemnitzs players have a good discipline, which is also a characteristic of communist countries. With good discipline, no one dares to be late and no one dares to be a troublemaker, especially in Germany, known for its strict order.

As soon as the training time arrived, Yang Cheng stood at the side of the field, and the team members lined up in three rows, each with a solemn face, closed mouth, and looked at this 23-year-old head coach.

Among the team members, the youngest was only 16 years old, with a tender and immature face. Some of the older ones were about the same age as Yang Cheng, but now they all stood in front of him, listening to him like obedient children, which gave Yang Cheng an indescribable sense of satisfaction.

What excited Yang Cheng even more was that he found a familiar figure in the crowd.

  "Hey, whos that kid?"

"So young, is he the new second team head coach?"

"Hey, hes been at the club for two months now, came in after last season ended and has been following Reinhardt around with the first team. Yesterday he offended Reinhardt and got beat up, look at his face its still swollen! Today he was demoted to the second team, probably to make an example out of him!"

"This kid is too young, standing for so long without even farting once, can he make it?"

The fans on the sidelines chattered and shouted, many of whom were parents of second-team players who were unemployed at home, relying on relief funds to get by, and had nothing better to do than come here to watch their kids play soccer, occasionally cheering them on.

But their way of encouragement was what Yang Cheng forbade and deeply detested!

"Ah, youre just in time, Tim! Do me a favor!" Yang Cheng said as he saw Tim Hanks walking over with a downcast face.

"Is this the first order Ive received since being demoted to the second team?" Tim asked with a wry smile.

Yang Cheng was taken aback, "Demoted to the second team? Could it be..."

Tim Hanks shrugged, "Yeah, thats right, damn Kuroba threw me into the second team!"

"Oh my god... He actually... Im sorry, its all my fault, if it wasnt for me..." Yang Cheng felt a strange discomfort in his heart, especially after hearing Tims words about his and his fathers feelings towards Chemnitz yesterday. It was imaginable how Tim must be feeling now.

"Dont mention sorry, its basically my bad luck that brought you down too!" Tim cut in on Yang Chengs words.

Yang Cheng took a deep breath and looked towards the training area of the first team not far away. A middle-aged German with a head of white hair, Reinhard Kühnert, was looking this way. He gritted his teeth, "Dont worry, Tim, believe me, he wont be arrogant for long, I must make him slink away from Chemnitz!"

Tim followed Yang Chengs line of sight and also saw Kluft Nahner. After hearing this, he gritted his teeth and nodded: "Right, give him a lesson, use practice to prove that his coaching era has passed, its no longer the East Germany era now, but the Federal Republic of Germany. Now football should keep up with the times!"

"Thats right!" Yang Cheng immediately laughed and patted Tims shoulder with force.

"Go on, Yang Cheng, what do you want me to do?" Tim also gained momentum.

Yang Cheng swept his gaze towards the sidelines, pointing at those chattering parents of the players, "Get them all out of the training field for me!"

Just now, Tim was still puffed out with pride, but as soon as he heard this, he almost shouted out loud, "Them? Theyre all the players parents, they just came here to cheer on their kids!"

"I knew it! If not, I wouldnt have driven them away!" Yang Cheng laughed.

  "Why?" Tim didnt understand.

Yang Cheng was getting impatient, training time was precious and he had already wasted a few minutes today. "Alright, Tim, Ill explain these to you later, just go do it now, okay?"

Looking deeply at Yang Cheng for a moment, Tim finally did as he was told and went to the side of the court to call up two or three staff members to follow and assist.

Not long after, a voice of scolding came from outside the training ground. It turned out that Tim was leading two staff members to politely "ask" the parents of those players to leave, but the parents were dissatisfied and scolded Yang Cheng, with some even making racist insults like "yellow monkey".

The commotion outside the training ground also attracted the attention of the players inside, who all turned their heads to look.

"Does it look good?" Yang Cheng asked with a casual smile.

Many players nodded in agreement immediately.

"If you like to watch, then you can go outside and watch. You dont have to come back again!" Yang Cheng said with a smile, but his tone was extremely serious, without a hint of joking.

Looking at this group of young German boys, Yang Cheng knew that he had to establish his authority on the first day and also establish his coaching philosophy, making it clear what the head coach wanted.

"This is a training ground, not a playground, its a battlefield!" Yang Cheng emphasized the two words "battlefield", "But its absolutely not a battlefield where you come and go, constantly breaking rules, because once you enter here, you must follow the rules of football. But look at what youve all been doing before? Are you even playing football?"

A cold laugh, Yang Chengs tone was full of disdain.

This is what Yang Cheng learned from his past memories. In the past, when he was in the first team, he knew that the young players had a very rough style of play and frequently committed fouls, but the coaches and parents not only didnt stop them, but instead encouraged it, which is absolutely not a way to help young players improve.

Tim Hanks stood by silently listening, and only then did he understand that the reason why Yang Cheng wanted to drive away those parents was right here, because he had discovered early on that the second teams playing style was rough, and the encouragement from the parents was also one of the reasons.

While Tim was lost in thought, Yang Chengs words continued.

"Ive seen your record, most of you have been through the youth league for the past two seasons, and Im sure youre aware of how you performed. I dont think theres anything to be proud of, on the contrary, I think its shameful that you didnt win a single game in the entire last season."

Seeing the player who looked the oldest in the front row, seemingly about to open his mouth, Yang Cheng suddenly waved his hand. "I know what excuse you want to make, there are many adult teams in the regional league, but is this an excuse? They are all just amateur teams, but what about you? Your goal is a professional team!"

These players were one by one criticized by Yang Cheng, and they didnt dare to say a word because they simply didnt have the achievements or strength to refute him.

"Today is my first formal training session in charge of the youth team, and the first thing I want to tell you is to forget about your previous small moves, forget about those fouls, because when your mind is always filled with these things, the opponent has already passed by you and scored a goal."

"My requirement for my team is to avoid unnecessary fouls, I want to win the game with fair and square means, everyone must be fully committed to the game within 90 minutes, I will not allow slack and undisciplined players to exist, this is my first command, you absolutely must remember!"
