Lesson 1 (Part 2)

"Secondly, my tactics are very focused on details. I will reorganize the team because there are too many players now. My ideal number is 23 to 25 people, which means at least 10 people need to be cut off. And I dont rule out the possibility of introducing new players from outside, so its possible that even more people will be cut."

"What I must tell you here is, dont think about finding connections or trying to put pressure on me from above. I have an agreement with Hei Furen, and when it comes to the youth team, what I say goes. If I say someone can stay, they can stay; if I say leave, even if God himself came, they would still have to roll out!"

Yang Cheng said this sentence with unparalleled determination, without any room for compromise, and also made these young people feel the severity and persistence in his heart.

"As for the method of selecting players, its very simple. I like players with excellent technique and awareness. I dislike those who only know how to commit fouls but dont know how to play football. So, anyone who wants to stay must impress me in these two aspects: technique and awareness!"

"Lastly, my third point is rewards and penalties. This is my rule: after every match, whether its a warm-up or an official league match, I will evaluate the players on the field based on their performance in their respective positions. The top three performing players can receive a reward of 5 marks each, while the bottom three performing players will be punished. My punishment standard is simple: at best, they will have to double their training load; at worst, they will be expelled from the team!"

As soon as Yang Chengs words were spoken, the players on the scene suddenly burst into an uproar.

5 marks, for these players who dont even have a salary, is a considerable reward, enough to equal an adults daily income. How can this not move their hearts?

But Tim, who was listening on the side, was very anxious. He had never known that Chemnitz had such a tradition. Not even the first-team players showed outstanding rewards, and they could only receive meager salaries every month without any extra income, let alone the youth team.

"This isnt right, Yang Cheng!" Tim whispered, turning his back on the players and reminding him quietly.

"Rules are made by people, and now Im the head coach of the youth team. The rules for the youth team are up to me! Dont worry, Tim, I know the club wont pay this money, Ill take it out of my own salary!" Yang Cheng said with a smile, he only cares about results, his previous salary in Chemnitz was not important to him.

Its hard to describe this situation with a single sentence, but it can be said that you cant put wolf skin on a child!

Although Tim found it unbelievable, Yang Cheng thought it was a matter of course. To make these little devils behave, simply intimidating them wouldnt work; a combination of carrot and stick would always be the most effective method.

Besides, according to Yang Chengs idea, his monthly salary deducted this part of the reward can fully satisfy his living needs. Spending so much money, if he can buy excellent results, then his reputation will also rise with it. At that time, will he still care about the initial investment of this little money?

"But... the club side... " Tims face was filled with difficulty, East German teams were notorious for their conservatism and stubbornness, so people like Schwarz would unconditionally reject foreign football knowledge, regardless of whether it made sense or not.

"This still requires your presence, haha......" Yang Cheng certainly knew that Chemnitz still had many problems left over from the East German era, especially when it came to tempting with benefits, they would feel it was a bad atmosphere!

Seeing Yang Chengs persistence, Tim also had no way to deal with him. Now he is the head coach of the youth team. I guess even if Kluivert came, he would have no choice but to follow him. As for the clubs board of directors, they have long been ignoring the youth team.

"Finally, I want to announce the discipline of the youth team from now on. First, during training sessions, it is not allowed to be late. Training classes will start on time, and those who are late will not be allowed to participate in the whole teams training and can only go to the gym for self-training. Those who are severely late will be expelled from the team!"

Yang Chengs words caused the young people present to burst into an uproar, but when his eyes swept over them, they immediately fell silent, and some even dared not breathe, apparently having been frightened too much today.

"Secondly, the subsequent training sessions will adopt a standard training time, that is, each training session will last for 90 minutes, not one minute more or less. However, the intensity of each training session will be very high, basically all with ball training, so you must warm up in advance and start training on time."

"Third, the starting lineup for the match is determined based on performance in training sessions. Whoever performs well in training gets to start in the match; otherwise, they can only be a substitute or even stay with the team!"

Three military orders were issued, and all the players on the scene were stunned, none of them dared to believe that Yang Cheng would adopt such a militarized management approach, among whom several over twenty years old were not very convinced.

Yang Cheng naturally saw everyones reaction and continued to intimidate after finishing his explanation of discipline.

"I know many of you are unhappy, but I wont care because you dont have the qualifications to be unhappy in front of me. Now Im your head coach and your future is decided by me, so you must listen to me. This is a world where the weak are preyed upon by the strong, if youre unhappy with me, then bring out a stronger power than mine!"

After a pause, Yang Cheng saw that the young people around his age had all shown fear, and then continued to say: "You dont have to doubt how long my discipline can last. I can say here that as long as I am still in this place, these disciplines will continue to be implemented, because I believe that without iron-like discipline, it is impossible to create an iron-like team!"

"Maybe among you, there are people who are stars of hope, mainstays of the past team, and those with connections in the club. But to me, thats not important. I coach a team, what I value most is attitude. In my team, no one is indispensable. My job is to turn all of you from scattered sand into a single rope, build an integrated whole, and present this wholeness on the field, defeating our opponents!"

"Physical ability, attitude, technique, tactics and awareness are all organic components of football, just like the hands and feet of a person, they are inseparable. So I wont separate them, I hope to integrate them through training and bring improvement to each one of you."

"My football philosophy is attack, constant attack, using attack to break down the opponents defense, using attack to destroy the opponents will, and winning the final victory with more goals. So I hope that every player under my command must have the kind of courage to move forward, never giving up until the last moment of the game!"

"Youve gone a whole season without winning, I dont know what youre thinking in your hearts, but I believe that anyone with goals and ambition will not easily accept this fact, they will make a comeback, strive to prove themselves, rather than being a coward who accepts reality."

"I wont allow cowards to stay on my team, anyone who doesnt have the conviction to win can leave now, whoever it is, I wont stop them. But let me warn those men who choose to stay and prove themselves: what awaits you will be hellish training, but I can guarantee that in the end, youll reap a rich harvest!"

Yang Cheng lay in bed last night, thinking about this for a long time. This is the first time he has coached an official team in his life, so he naturally attaches great importance to it and doesnt want to mess it up.

After Yang Cheng finished speaking, for about a few minutes, the players below were discussing and debating, but none of them left the training ground, which made Yang Cheng and Tim exchange a glance, both of whom were quite satisfied.

But staying now doesnt mean they can all withstand Yang Chengs devil training.

Yang Chengs training schedule for the morning was mainly pre-season physical reserve training, Tim Hank learned the training method at Leipzig Sports Academy, and has been in Chemnitz for a year. He is already familiar with some of the physical training for professional teams, so its great that hes in charge of training.

In the afternoon, Yang Cheng first arranged some ball training and group confrontation training. The last 30 minutes were divided into two groups for a full-court match training.

In the eyes of these second-team players, Yang Cheng is different from other coaches who came before. He arranges all training projects tightly and compactly, with sufficient rest time in each training session, and the total training time adds up to exactly 90 minutes, obviously having done thorough preparation work beforehand.

Although its only 90 minutes, the training intensity is very high.

During training, Yang Cheng kept shouting the names of some not-so-hardworking players on the sidelines. Its really unbelievable that he had memorized all the players names overnight.

Every minute was spent training with all ones might, and after 90 minutes, each and every one of them were exhausted to the point of almost collapsing on the spot.

It was only the first day, and already three or four players were shouting "cant take it" in the locker room. This was just the beginning. No one dared to imagine what would happen if every days training continued like this. Who could endure it?
