Chapter 60: You should wait for me in the room

After dinner, Cynthia wandered aimlessly in her bedroom.

Eating too much and feeling bloated, I don't even want to sleep. The feeling of not being allowed out of the bedroom door is really uncomfortable.

She walked around the bed four or five times, sat down on the edge of the bed to think for a while, and decided to go out to the study to find some books to read.

Of course, it's also possible that she did it on purpose.

If Austin wants to discuss something with Karius, it's likely that the two of them will be in the study.

She put on her shoes and got out of bed, lightly opening the somewhat heavy bedroom door.

The stone corridor with a red carpet was empty, and Cynthia walked upstairs quietly.

As expected, only the study on the fourth floor was lit up. Anthony came out of it with an empty tray and bumped into her head-on.

  "The adults are discussing something."

"Can't sleep, I thought I'd go find a book to read." Cynthia said with a calm face, "I won't disturb him."

Anthony looked at her for a while, neither agreeing nor disagreeing, but simply stepped aside and said with a smile full of meaning, "I'm also quite curious to know how many bottom lines you need to cross before the adults will kill you."

"Maybe this will never happen." Cynthia said with confidence.

"Very well, clever Cynthia." Anthony's smile became a little more genuine, clearly he thought there was some sense in it.

Cynthia arrived at the door of the study, although only separated by a door, but she couldn't hear any conversation.

She tapped lightly on the door and said softly: "Kayus, I couldn't sleep."

Austin swirled his glass in the study, a pleased smile on his face. "Your little pet has come to find you."

He pushed open the door, and Kaid Rylan was sitting behind his desk in a black shirt that wasn't wrinkled at all. He first gave Austin a cold look, then turned his face to frown and said, "You should be waiting for me in your room."

"I'll just take this book back and read it." Cynthia muttered.

Sitting on the sofa, Austin's silver hair was almost falling to the ground as he held a cup of green liquid in his hand. He took a elegant sip and said: "At the autumn feast half a month later, you can bring your pet along, it's always more fun with someone."

His tone was always gentle and smiling, looking like he wasn't seriously injured at all.

Cynthia walked around Kael's back and pulled out a book, asking him in confusion, "Mei said you were injured and missing, how do you look fine?"

"She's always so dramatic." Austin said with a charming smile, not mentioning the giant at all, but instead raised an eyebrow and pointed to the book in her hand, "Elvish? I'd be happy to teach you myself."

Kairos turned his head and took a look at the book in Cynthia's hand, his tone even more dissatisfied than before, bluntly ordering: "Change to another one."

"Oh..." Cynthia didn't want to read that kind of book either, and swapped it for a divine tribe's historical atlas, "How about this one."

Kairos' attitude had improved somewhat, but his face was still stern and his tone remained cold and hard. "Return to your bedroom, I will come check on your progress later."

"Oh..." It seemed like she wouldn't be bothering them anymore, Cynthia went back to her bedroom with her book.

But she just heard about the Autumn Banquet.

What kind of banquet is it that even the Elf King and Kaylus are attending?

It's definitely not like Lord Gill's dinner party.

  It must be unprecedentedly grand.

Thinking about it, Cynthia is actually quite looking forward to it, but she doesn't know if Kyrios will bring her along.

Of course, if she doesn't have one, she will create an opportunity for herself.

She took off her shoes and leaned against the headboard, covering herself with the quilt, then opened that album she had picked up at random.

I don't know who the master is, but although it's a black and white charcoal drawing, the facial expressions of the characters are depicted very meticulously.

It is about the history of gods.

Not just the entanglement between the God of Light and the God of Darkness, but also descriptions of various small gods.

But unfortunately, most of these pictures are bloody and violent, with winged gods constantly fighting each other. She can't understand what this violent scene represents at all.

Do they prove their status by fighting?

It's so boring, the more I watch, the sleepier I get...

The bedroom quickly fell silent, the sound of pages turning disappearing halfway through, leaving only Cynthia's long breathing and the crackling of charcoal in the fireplace.

After an unknown period of time, the door was opened.

A gust of cool wind carrying the scent of the tide blew in from outside, startling Cynthia awake as she had fallen asleep with a book covering her face. She quickly sat up and the book slid down to her lower abdomen.

Kairos closed the door and his boots made a soft crunching sound on the carpet.

He walked to the bedside, lowered his head and looked at her silly appearance, raised an eyebrow and said: "It seems that you have already understood the contents inside very thoroughly."

"Hmm...about time." Cynthia hastily sat down with her book, her fingers unnaturally curling up the loose locks of hair on her chest, her dazed expression turning awkward. "I thought you weren't coming."

A small sofa in front of the fireplace automatically moved behind Kayus, he knelt down beside her bed with his eyes fixed on her, and casually pulled out the album from her arms. He hummed a sound through his nose, "What did you find? It's been three hours since you came to see me."

You still know that three hours have passed, don't you know it's midnight now? It will be dawn soon! Don't come so late!

Cynthia really wanted to shout out all the words in her heart loudly and then let her continue sleeping.

Kaier's red eyes stared at her, and she weakly put down the hand that was holding up her hair, softly saying: "Hmm...Master's painting skills are not bad."

The room fell silent, and Kael's face had already sunk down, but he still patiently asked, "And then?"

"Hmm..." Cynthia stole a glance at his facial expression, and this feeling was as if he wanted her to discover something, but unfortunately, it didn't work out.

The former princess Cynthia might have been a talented and intelligent person, but she wasn't. At most, she was just an average student, often dozing off in class when she was young, let alone quietly appreciating art, it's simply soporific to her.

Cynthia was silent for a while before lowering her head and saying honestly: "I don't know, I also can't understand why they have to fight and kill each other."

Caius turned the book to the page she had just covered her face with, intending to check her progress, only to see a streak of saliva that had seeped through the paper and blurred the lines of the drawing.

His hand on the page footer suddenly tightened, and the white back of his hand was about to burst with blue veins.

  The atmosphere is extremely depressing...

Cynthia noticed the marks she had left on the book and shrank back in fright, "I'm sorry..."

Caius finally raised his hand and threw the album directly into the fireplace.

He put his hands back on the sofa, his gloomy red eyes staring at her tense little face, his words full of sarcasm. "There's one thing you barely got right, they did indeed rely on their strength to seize territory."
