Chapter 41: She was going for this all along

"Can I go then?" Cynthia asked again.

She looked forward to this dance as if she were a bird longing to fly and feel the wind after being cooped up in a cage for too long.

Caius's hand holding the knife and fork paused, with a scrutinizing gaze at her, then firmly said: "You will regret it."

The party hadn't even started yet, but he had already told her the answer with great certainty, as if he had predicted what would happen.

Cynthia certainly knew that this invitation letter was not right, but she went for it anyway.

Kaius won't take the initiative to tell her something or pull her into a relationship, so she has to create all the conditions herself.

Who says girls chasing boys is a thin layer of gauze? This is simply a copper wall and iron wall with steel needles.

Cynthia's expression turned slightly disappointed, but she still took the letter and said seriously: "I've never been to DC, I want to take a look."

Kaius didn't respond to her, his expression clearly suppressed, and he even stopped eating the food on the table, throwing down his knife and fork.

Accompanied by the crisp sound of dishes colliding, he made a scathing comment, "It's inedible."

He was dissatisfied with her disobedience.

  He was obviously angry too.

"I wasn't very good at cooking before..." Cynthia pursed her lips and forced a smile, "But I'll try my best to make it delicious."

She didn't get angry at all, but a layer of grievance had already surged up in her moist blue eyes.

Kaiyas gazed at her for a moment, pursed his lips to suppress his emotions, and made an effort to make his tone more even. "There's still some distance from the feed."

  Is this consolation?

But she really wanted to pick up the fork on her plate and stab it into his chest so that he would never speak again!

Cynthia continued to bear it, silently putting away the letter and trying to warm up the cold room again. "Mr. Kayus, is the DC district's clergy specifically serving you?"

"Service?" He glanced at her with scarlet eyes, full of sarcasm and said thinly: "A bunch of greedy people, their brains are more stupid than pigs."

  This mouth is really poisonous...

Cynthia really wanted to laugh, but she had to pretend that you didn't go to the party and ridiculed my cooking skills, so I looked very sad.

"Do you often interact with them?" she asked in a low voice, "And those nobles, aren't they difficult to get along with."

She seems to have already started mentally preparing for tomorrow's banquet.

As for this point, Kael's expression became even more disdainful, "They are not worth me wasting too much energy."

In other words, he can't be bothered with those sycophants.

Cynthia asked curiously again, "Then have you ever attended a banquet? Can you dance? Any kind of dance is fine."

"How old do you think I am?" Kael asked in response, her question having nothing to do with the one she had been asked.

Cynthia hesitated for a moment, stretching out two fingers in confusion and guessing, "Hmm... 20 years old? You look very young."

"How long do you think I stayed at 20?"

"It's been a long time." Cynthia's expression became awkward, her hands came down and fidgeted together, "So you're all-powerful, how could a little dance be difficult for you?"

Caius's lips curled up slightly, and he now looked extremely pleased with himself.

"But you still don't want to go." Cynthia looked at him gloomily, "Or Anthony? I'd like to go, but I'm short of a dance partner. He can come with me too."

His smile froze on his face, and Kael's transition from a smile to anger took only one second.

"Who do you think you are!" He suddenly burst out in anger, and this sudden surge of fury was released without even passing through his brain.

Cynthia was startled by Caius's angry roar and leaned back, her beautiful pale face turned pale in an instant, and mist appeared in her eyes. "No one is."

She rubbed her eyes, trying to hold back tears, and apologized softly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Kyrios, it's my fault, I just...since coming here, I haven't even attended a proper gathering once, I'm so bored."

Cynthia rubbed her eyes and put down her hand, her fingers passing in front of Kael's face, the back of her hand slightly moist under the lamp light.

She picked up the food on the table that had hardly been eaten, stood up with her hair covering half of her face, and said in a light and suppressed tone: "I'll go wash the dishes first."

Cynthia walked quickly into the kitchen, her tears welling up in her eyes, and set the bowl down on the counter, her distress disappearing completely.

She didn't even need to observe Kairos' current expression to guess that he would definitely feel guilty.

After all, with 18% progress now, it means he's not completely indifferent to her. At least she has formally invaded his life and is no longer just a passerby.

The food in her hand was not poured away by Cynthia, but was stored instead.

After all, bread made from refined flour is expensive, and she, who was not wealthy, did not want to waste it.

That stingy and irascible stinker Kairos! Cynthia thought viciously.

The dinner plate was washed clean with water and put away, and the room had become quiet.

The sound of raindrops falling from the eaves of the house can be faintly heard.

Wiping her hands clean, Cynthia came out of the kitchen.

The cloak on the clothes rack is gone, and there's no one outside.

Caius left again without saying goodbye.

It can be said that this was an extremely terrible dinner.

But it's not really bad either.

  Cynthia did it on purpose.

She wanted him to go to the banquet.

But even if she didn't come, she would at most suffer some verbal insults, with the name of all Kael's possessions on her side, it was bad, but not that bad.

Cynthia felt she could handle the consequences of her failure.

She went into the bathroom to wash up and then made the fire in the fireplace a little bigger before going to bed early.

  ...

Tonight in the eternal forest, moonlight is covered by thick black clouds.

"Master." Anthony saw the icy-faced Kayus return with a body of steam, and immediately walked up with the golden-edged envelope in his hand, his eyes somewhat ambiguous. "The list of saint candidates from the Vatican has been delivered to the gate of the ancient castle."

"It seems they all agree that you now have the ability and need a woman."

The position of the Holy Maiden in Rhodania has always been an inviolable and noble existence, but placed in chaotic Tamriel, this position is somewhat mixed with inferior ideas.

The Vatican, under the guise of a holy maiden, openly wants to send women to his side.

Caius clenched his fingers, letting them fall to his sides in fists, his scarlet eyes cold and full of disgust. "I've spoiled their appetites too much."
