Chapter 23: I am his possession!

The sound of those boots went straight through the wall and stopped in front of her door.

Is she really possessed by bad luck?!

The footsteps stopped outside her door and then there was no more movement. The doorknob began to turn slowly.

Cynthia's pupils began to dilate with fear, and her heart started trembling.

  Who is it?

  Is it okay?!!

She has already washed away the taste of blood, but he still doesn't want to let her go?

Cynthia felt that she should prop up her soft legs, at least not like a lamb to be slaughtered by others, she had to do something, even if the strength was so small that it didn't work.

She quickly got up from the bed board and rushed to the door, blocking it with her body, and the gold coins in her hand were pinched into the tender flesh of her palm.

"Because of fear, Cynthia's voice was tinged with a tremble, 'Don't come in! Kyrios will kill you! I swear! If you dare to move me he won't let you go! I am his property!'"

The girl's fragile voice, on the verge of shattering, entered Kael's ears, and his hand, which had been rotating the handle, stopped moving, slowly retracting it. The suppressed gaze of death was again tangled up in an emotion that could be called torture.

Is she seeking help from the executioner outside the door? How contradictory.

The power on the handle disappeared, and Cynthia leaned against the door without hearing any movement outside.

Was it because her threat took effect?

She was uncertain and didn't even have the courage to leave this door that wasn't secure in the first place.

Cynthia leaned against the door and slowly slid down to the ground, curling up into a ball.

The kerosene lamp in the room was still burning, and the dim light that had seeped out from the gap under the door was cut off by a pair of boots.

Kairos's muffled voice came from outside the door.

  "Open the door."

The faint, flat tone was as cold as dead water, but to Cynthia, it had an absolute sense of security.

As long as it's him! She will find a way to survive.

She almost bounced off the ground, yanking open the door and dashing out, "Kairos!"

Cynthia buried her face in that hard yet warm chest, and her well-developed tear glands rolled out tears at the first moment.

She buried her face in his chest, rubbing against his expensive clothes and sobbed: "Where did you go! Why are you back so late, I thought the vampire came for me again."

She was defenseless under his gaze, revealing her slender neck, with her shallow golden long hair disheveled and stuck to her face.

The seemingly weak and pitiful lamb still has no idea of the severity of the problem.

Caius stood still and straight, as if he had fallen into some sort of contemplation due to Cynthia's excessive dependence on him.

He couldn't understand why someone who valued brightness would show him complete trust.

"Give me a reason not to kill you." Kael's voice was low as he threw the unusually knotted question at Cynthia.

She desecrated an avatar of a dark deity and kissed him.

Her brother even sent someone to assassinate him, no matter how she thought about it, Cynthia couldn't come up with a reason not to be killed.

She knew that crying couldn't solve the problem, so she stopped her tears, lifted her head and choked out: "Maybe you didn't need help at the tavern, but I did give you my only medicine bottle, doesn't that count as me helping you too?"

  Caius nodded hesitantly.

"You helped me block Lays, and didn't abandon me just because I'm Logia's sister. I appreciate that, and I'm not afraid of your identity as the Dark God's incarnation. To me, it's just an identity, nothing more."

Cynthia took a few steps back, biting her lip and said: "It was your brother who provoked you first, it's only normal that you want to use me to get revenge."

"So at least let me live until my brother comes, okay?" Cynthia gathered her courage, "If you're still resentful about what I did to offend you last night, you can come back for me personally, and I absolutely won't resist."

"Do you think to have Lycus kill me and thus escape?" Kael's voice rose in anger, his red eyes flashing with ire as he stepped closer to Cynthia.

No matter how she answered the questions, it seemed to be a fuse that enraged Kael, and she couldn't understand what dark things were in his mind, always misinterpreting her meaning.

He was like a lion on the verge of going mad at any moment, and Cynthia couldn't get a clue.

"It's not to kill you." Cynthia instead moved closer to him, almost sticking her body on his to bear with his anger, "A matter between men always needs a head-on confrontation, right? I'm just a witness."

She never told a lie, so Caius had no idea that she was lying.

Her gaze was firm, looking up at his eyes without fear, the sapphire-like pupils were so clear and bright.

Caius stepped back, the flames dying down as she gradually calmed, his expression once again turning into a chiseled, cold hardness.

"What you said is right, I would unhesitatingly break his neck."

How did Lu Zhi die in history?

Cynthia suddenly thought of this serious problem.

Was it shortly after he ascended to the throne? The royal family seemed to have a huge problem at that time, but she didn't finish watching the history books and TV dramas, what happened to lead to the palace coup...

  Damn memory.

Cynthia looked a bit down, she temporarily put the issue aside and lowered her eyebrows, saying: "Then have you had dinner? I wasn't sure if you'd be coming tonight, so I brought some for you."

"Dinner?" Kael's voice softened, tinged with incredulity.

"Did you bring me dinner?" he repeated again, as if he couldn't believe she had really done it.

Cynthia nodded, and after narrowly escaping again, she turned around and walked to the edge of the table, tossing the remaining Blessing Gold Coin in her hand onto the table. She pointed at the bamboo basket in front of her, "I went to Dawn's restaurant to eat, and brought some back for you."

"Do you want to try some?" Cynthia ventured, "You don't have to eat it if you don't want to."

Kairos' attention fell on that simple bamboo basket, and he unconsciously lifted his feet to enter the dimly lit room.

The door was closed again by an invisible force. Cynthia looked at the automatically closed door, not too surprised, and took out the food one by one.

"Onion pancake and pickled meat, the milk might have gone cold, can I use the stove? I'll help you heat it up before drinking."

"Stove?" Kael's gaze shifted slowly to the small kitchen, the only one in the house, where there was no longer any coal and a layer of spider webs had formed, looking very shabby.

Cynthia followed his gaze and naturally found the problem too, she hurriedly said:

"I exchanged a lot of money for Lucky Coins today, so I'll go buy some furniture tomorrow. The milk can also be drunk tomorrow."
