Chapter 27: Visiting the Execution Grounds

"No one can kill you." Kyrios replied quickly, "Only I can."

"So, I'll always be by your side?" Cynthia asked him blankly.

"You can stay here before Loka arrives." Kyrios said suddenly with full confidence: "After I kill him, I can give you a chance to return to Rydania."

Cynthia twitched at the corner of her mouth, "That was a special favor."

She didn't want to go back, he was the key to her real homecoming.

Caius gave her a benevolent gaze that was almost like a reward and said faintly, "Now, put on your cloak and come out with me."

Cynthia obediently put on the windbreaker, she wanted to put the hood back on her head, her hands stretched up to her shoulders and hesitated for a moment before finally putting them down.

"Alright, Mr. Kyrios, I'm willing to give you all my trust, and naturally believe that you won't get me into trouble."

She didn't like her golden hair turning into dull blackness either. She liked herself to be shining and beautiful at all times.

Caius didn't respond to her words, although his eyes softened a bit, but the icy expression like a sculpture crushed that softness in an instant.

He took the initiative to open the door and stepped out first.

The scorching sunlight outside remained unchanged, and when the two appeared on the street, they almost caused a stir throughout the entire neighborhood.

  "Lord Kayrus."

In front of Cynthia, all the people passing by bowed down and greeted Kairós with excitement and respect. Compared to this shining body, she was not bad either, receiving many eager and curious eyes.

  "Golden hair."

"He is a noble of Rhedania!"

  "She's really beautiful!"

The mark of Kairos' possession had already been branded onto Cynthia, but when everyone saw her face under the hood, they finally understood why the cold-as-stone adult would like this girl.

It's a completely irresistible and charming face that anyone can't refuse, with golden hair like flowing starry rivers, and the sunshine on it is so dazzling.

Cynthia walked quietly beside Caius, her two blue eyes like glass balls turning slightly, "Mr. Caius, they are all looking at us."

Kairos gave her a cold glance, his breath suddenly turning icy like the snow in midwinter, and his voice was like flames burning fiercely in the fireplace. "Put on that damned hood of yours!"

  Cynthia: ...

She had told him to change the color for her, but he didn't allow it! What a temper he would show her!

She pouted and put on her hood, saying discontentedly: "That's why I told you to change the color for me."

"You have no right to make demands of me!" Kael's harsh reply came as he quickened his pace, forcing Cynthia to lift her skirts and run to keep up.

She doesn't even understand that even his servants have wings and can fly around, why can't Caius? Is it because he is still a human being now?

She followed Kais to a store that sold alchemy materials, and before she could even figure out what he was doing, he had already bought everything and was being escorted out by the staff.

Cynthia found it strange that he was arranging things on the ground, those peculiarly shaped stones and plants were not in the same position as before, but after completely enveloping the two of them, a six-pointed star magic array unfolded under their feet.

Cynthia guessed it was a teleportation array.

"You'll still make this." She said with a tone of envy, then tried to say: "I always fail at making transmission arrays."

"The journey to get there is long, and taking you directly will consume too much of my power." Kael raised his chin slightly, calm mockery, "You always fail because you're too stupid."

  Hehe.

Cynthia's face lifted with a smile, "You're right, Mr. Kaelus, I wonder if you have any good insights on the divine technique? Can you help me restore my original power?"

"No," he said curtly, refusing her.

Even though she had already cursed him thousands of times in her heart, Cynthia had to tell herself to hold back. The sheep's fur wasn't even dry yet and she was relying on it to increase her progress bar after all.

A dazzling halo of law enveloped the two in a holy white light and quickly disappeared into the alley.

This sacred aura doesn't resemble Khaos at all.

His body was always filled with darkness, so why did the light of the law array bring Cynthia such a strong sense of intimacy?

She was still reeling from the sensation when she arrived at her destination, until the faint scent of peppermint gradually faded away and a foul odor began to envelop her, her gaze finally focusing as she caught up with Kael's already distant footsteps.

Before my eyes is a scene similar to the eternal night forest, with a cedar forest, all green, the ground is filled with ferns, and the tree trunks are covered in green moss, everything is so fresh and natural.

If she ignored the faint stench of rot that hung in the air, Cynthia would have thought this was a beautiful place too.

Her hand, hidden in her cloak, tightened into a fist as she knew that to find out if Joyce was really dead, she had to get past this thing, whatever it was that reeked of rot and corruption.

Kairos' footsteps didn't stop, walking very lightly, the so-called execution ground seemed to be a joyful sightseeing trip for him.

She closely followed his footsteps, but her heart had already begun to beat out of control.

Cynthia swallowed hard, her eyes fixed intently on the dwindling ironwood trees in front of her, she was almost out.

Caius's footsteps quickened, his scarlet eyes completely absorbed in the scenery before him, a mad emotion spreading at the bottom of his eyes. He suddenly stopped in his tracks, his low voice becoming exceptionally gentle as he called out, "Xin Si Ya."

This was his first time calling out her name, showing her his great masterpiece.

What is in front of your eyes?

A vast expanse of green grass, sloping downward in a gentle incline, was studded with dozens of wooden stakes, their tips sharpened to a point, and on these the knights of Rhodania were mostly impaled.

Cynthia's mind went blank for a moment, she had seen many bloody killings and blood-soaked scenes on set, but she knew they were fake, done to satisfy the masses.

But the real corpses crawling with flies in front of her made her freeze from head to toe.

Caius, dissatisfied with Cynthia's emotionless face, walked up to her, bent down and looked at her levelly, smiling as he said: "Are you satisfied with the punishment I meted out to them?"

Cynthia stared blankly at his face, now she could only shift her gaze to his face.

Her skin was as white as porcelain, without a single blemish. Cynthia forcibly shifted her thoughts, erasing that terrible scene from her mind.
