Chapter 36: Not Really Lacking Brains

She looked at him for a while, making sure he really didn't mean to leave, before closing her eyes contentedly.

On a windowless night, Cynthia didn't sleep well. The cold wind kept pouring into the quilt from the foot of the bed.

She didn't even want her head exposed outside the quilt, wrapping herself up like a baby and shrinking into the not-so-thick down comforter.

She should get up to light the fire in the fireplace, then roll around on the floor wrapped in a blanket to warm up, Cynthia thought drowsily, but her extremely exhausted body didn't want to move at all.

A noise came from the bathroom.

He probably disliked her getting his clothes dirty, so Kaid Rukh changed into a black shirt that was different from the one before, the gloomy color matching well with his complexion.

He walked to the bedside and looked down at the lump in the middle of the quilt, wondering how someone could sleep so soundly, and he was very suspicious that she might have suffocated herself.

  Cynthia.

  Kairos frowned and called her.

Although the quilt was filled with coldness and darkness, Cynthia was really too tired to respond to him.

She's really sleepy and tired, so just let her sleep like this, she needs to keep her energy up in order to have enough brains to deal with him.

The figure under the blanket remained motionless, which solidified Kaylus's conviction that she was determined to suffocate herself.

He stood by the bed, dissatisfied, bent down and lifted the quilt, exposing more than half of Cynthia's body to the cold air.

She felt herself almost numb with cold, especially after the quilt was lifted open.

Kai'erus finally noticed that her complexion wasn't quite right, he stretched out his hand to touch her cheek, and with a suppressed tone, looking like he was about to suffocate, said: "Are you mute?! You're frozen stiff and still haven't reacted."

The fireplace in the bedroom suddenly burst into flames, and the window with shattered glass shards was completely repaired by Kael's wave of his hand.

He pulled the blanket over Cynthia's neck again, and stuffed it into her neck on both sides.

Cynthia's eyes opened a slit, and she saw his approaching movement pull out a sweet smile.

He's still okay, he knows how to give people some leeway, he's not really brainless.

The temperature in the room rose rapidly, and the comfortable temperature completely put her to sleep.

Caius stared at her for a long time, watching as the flush of health returned to her cheeks with a faint smile, before finally swallowing his temper and walking back over to sit down in his chair.

The gas lamp on the table went out, and the room was plunged into complete darkness.

At the intersection of East XC district, Anthony flapped his wings and led a group of birds to hang corpse after corpse on the wall.

Lys stood beneath the wall, a somber light flickering in his rose-colored irises. "The night is ours, and Kael has broken the rules he set."

"Not at all." Anthony flashed a fixed smile, his eyes gleaming with malice as he turned back to him after pinning down the vampire's body. "Your newborn broke Lord Kael's law, invading human dwellings and killing, for the second time tonight."

"You have enraged him, of course you must prepare to be punished, Lord Lays."

Lai stretched out his finger and pressed the wrinkled eyebrow, a warm smile hanging on his cold face, "You're right, I'll investigate this matter clearly."

"Enough, put aside your thoughts of Princess Rydania. If Lord Kael hadn't arrived when he did, she'd be dead by now." Anton swooped down from the wall to his side, folding his wings and narrowing his red eyes in warning:

"That is a matter for adults, life and death are not decided by vampires, Lord Lestat."

Lais put down his hand, still maintaining a gentleman's smile on his face. "Of course I understand, it's just that these children are disobedient."

As he gazed at the corpses hanging almost full on the city wall, his hand in the fur coat pierced through the palm with sharp fingernails, and cold blood flowed out slowly.

  ...

It had been a warm night and only a few hours had passed when the blanket that was covering Cynthia was ruthlessly pulled off as the sky slowly turned from dark blue to bright.

It was warm in the room, she was so sleepy that she didn't want to open her eyes or move at all, and simply relying on instinct, she turned over and buried her face in the mattress, mumbling: "What's going on."

Her clean back was exposed outside, and those dirty tattered clothes were still hanging on her body.

Kairos looked down at her with disdain, expressing his full disgust at her unattractive sleeping posture, and said impatiently: "Before sunrise, you still have a chance to see."

"Huh?..." Cynthia was perplexed, covering her ears with her hands, but the person by the bed wouldn't let her pretend she hadn't heard and continue her lazy behavior.

Not only was the child thrown to one side, but the flames in the fireplace nearby also went out.

The temperature in the room was dropping rapidly, a chill creeping over her, and Cynthia had to open her eyes.

She turned her head to look at the long legs by the bed, and her mind slowly recalled that Kael seemed to have said something about going out yesterday.

It seems like a vampire's corpse...

Ah, why do I have to look at the corpse...

She already knew about his great heroic deeds for her, so there's no need to deliberately let her go and watch him emit admiring sighs.

Cynthia slowly sat up in bed, thinking that there must be a very deep black eye circle under her eyes.

"Kayus." She tried to persuade him, "Can I..."

"No." Kairos wasn't even interested in hearing her out and bluntly refused.

"Alright..." Cynthia reluctantly got out of bed and shuffled into the bathroom.

She thought of something and covered her chest, poking her head out to say: "Your angel brought me a nightgown, but it's broken. I want one that's exactly the same."

In Zone XC, Cynthia thought it would cost a lot of money to buy such a comfortable nightgown, and she didn't want to waste her limited gold coins.

Caius thought she was a nuisance, but he took out the parchment and scribbled a few words on it before throwing it out of the window.

Toolbird Anthony saw the familiar and beautiful font, his eyes already had a suspicious attitude, "Ten women's nightgowns?"

  ...

Another long dress as black as ink without a bit of bright color.

Cynthia really wants to vomit, her entire closet is this color, it's nauseating.

Maybe she should find a tailor and secretly make two more vibrant ones for herself.

Adjusted the lace ruffled collar under her clavicle, put on a pair of black grid gloves, and tied up her light golden curly hair with a black silk ribbon, which was wrapped around the back to form a large bow tie, creating a fresh and fluffy high ponytail.

Cynthia looked at herself in the mirror, and the faint blue circle around her eyes was like a pure eye shadow, which didn't look bad on her overly pale skin.
