Chapter 4

  4

With trembling fingers, the Enchantress reached

To hold the Prince's tearful expression

Cupping his face like a fortress besieged

Her voice ringing with a melancholic intonation:

"There is no power in all the Land and Seas

Or higher in the heavenly skies above

That could ever cause the longing of my soul to cease

Or ever fade the enduring devotion of our Love

No crueller Fate could have been bestowed upon me

Than to face the Eons of the world without your company

So if I'm to endure eternal life in Misery

I choose that time to be spent with you in Mortality"

Slowly the Enchantress falls down to her knees

Just so that she could brush a light touch

Through his incorporeal hair that swayed with a soft breeze

While the tremor in her voice held her lover's heart in a clutch:

  "I choose it, my heart

To never again be a part

Of this world that we were once happy in

Because only for this once, to die...is to win"

Just as tears marred deeply the Enchantress' visage

They marked the Prince's face like a bloodstain

As he softly pressed his forehead to hers in a sorrowful image

And weakly whispered, his baritone cracking with pain:

"My Lady...An easier task would it be for me

To pull down the moon from distant skies

Or to reach the most profound bottom of the sea

Than to take on this task that to your demise has cruel ties

And I want you to know that...as a ghostly figure

I'd roam these lands a thousand years tenfold

Waste away my eternal slumber, leave my soul without cure

If it meant keeping you safe, away from Lady Death's cold

And yet, if your life you are willing to bravely capitulate

My love, I'm left without choice or reason

I'll dutifully search every corner of this Land to fulfil my Fate

Ending your curse and life, even if to my breaking heart it is the worst treason"

As soon as the Prince's broken murmur comes to an end

His beloved's hands slowly reach to touch his

Holding onto his incorporeal body as if there was an invisible strand

Tying together the tragic lovers souls with expertise

"My beloved, we will make the wrong right

And challenge the forces that rule the universe

Starting by retrieving our people from the Sorcerer with a fight

And ending it in our eternal peace, by breaking your curse"

Those words exchanged, the lovers took swift flight

Running away unseen from the Sorcerer's freshly stolen territory

As all that intended to stop them were frozen at the ghostly sight

Of the fallen Prince and his Lady, forgetting to tell the story
