Chapter 3

  3

  Tenderly, their arms wrapped remained

Until a soft whisper from the Enchantress was heard:

  “My dearest Prince, Lady Death from taking your life has refrained;

How come you escaped your Fate as another one in her herd?”

Taking the Enchantress in his adoring gaze

The gentle Prince brushed just as gentle a hand

Across the face of the only one who made his love blaze

His whisper as soft as the sound of shifting sand:

This story has been stolen from Royal Road. If you read it on Amazon, please report it

“An easier task could never have been found

Than that to evade the chilling touch of Lady Death

If one by his eternal love for the Enchantress is bound

And when the prize is to once anew hear your breath

My Enchantress, you are my sole heart’s desire

You are the one who brings my soul delight

You are the one who does my mind inspire

The one for whom I find the strength to fight”

When those loving words out of the Prince’s lips poured

Pearly tears composed of sparkling starlight

Adorned fairly the Enchantress’ gaze as her spirit was floored

And her marble white arms held onto him tight:

“Oh Reigning Champion of my heart

My eyes lack the strength to look away from you

If without you, as an immortal I must live my part

I’d rather scour all lands for an ending clue”

A silent frown marred the Prince’s handsome visage

The quiet twist of a dagger in his translucid chest he felt

Dark and permanent, akin to an ink blot on a white page

And by the strength of his emotion brought down, he knelt:

“Unfair are the Fates that disgraced us so callously

That willed my soul to return, only to trap yours endlessly

What a cruel Destiny it is, that to set my beloved free

In a merciless quest to seek your demise, I’d have to be”
